Singham Returns has recorded the highest first day collections for films released in 2014. The film has collected around 20% more than Salman Khan’s Kick which released on a non-holiday during the Ramadan period.
Holiday releases usually tend to collect about 50% more than non-holiday releases. However, the average ticket prices of Singham Returns was lower than Kick and the number of screens was also about 10% lesser.
The hugely popular Singham brand, director Rohit Shetty and the presence of Ajay Devgn has ensured that Singham Returns has posted opening day records in several circuits including Mumbai, C.P Berar, C.I and Rajasthan. Other territories like West Bengal and Mysore, where such films don’t usually perform well, have also scored big on Day 1.

I spent 330rs on sr ticket(most expensive ticket I hv ever brought) bcz I trusted shetty but felt extremely let down while leaving the theatre.the movie has some gd screnes and 20mins bfr the climax were top class that made me blv that I will term the film atleast gd but the anti climax ruined the entire film
weekend will be lower than kick despite non holiday ramzan period it was collected 27cr and people say salman is dependent on eid tell your star to release his movie on same condition then you will know what is the power of your star or salman.

do you know the math dude? even in worst case scenario it will do around 150 cr, as the opening has ensured it will have a weekend collection of atleast 70 crs.
Then again it has a holiday on Monday, ie., Janmashtami, so expect good collections on that day too.
Just because you didn’t like the movie, doesn’t mean it will not do good business.
It looks all set to be a good profitable movie for producers and entertainment to movie goers.

@Vikram, stop quoting wrong numbers. The screen count is clearly mentioned in the article. Higher screen count is not a negative, but actually shows that an actor has the star power to bring in audience even at smaller towns.
