The Jungle Book in its second week has beaten Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN at the India box office. The Maneesh Sharma directed film, on its 5th day, has once again failed to sustain as it couldn’t take advantage of the holiday for Mahavir Jayanti.
For FAN, this is a clear indication of negative word-of-mouth because even films that receive mixed response show growth of 10-15% on a holiday. FAN seemed to be holding up better on Tuesday morning and noon (like we reported in the evening yesterday), but business at multiplexes came down in the night.
The Tuesday collections of FAN are likely to be at around the same level or little lower than Monday. On the other hand, The Jungle Book, which is carrying excellent word-of-mouth, has shown a big jump of more than 25%.
Only the Hindi collections of The Jungle Book (not including the English version, which is also doing well) will go on to become the 2nd highest grosser of the year – beating Kapoor & Sons, Neerja and could challenge the lifetime total of FAN if The Jungle Book crosses the 150 crore mark at the India box office.
It’s content and content alone that is winning at the box office this year. For the big superstars of our industry, it’s their script sense that will be put to a bigger test than their stardom.

If the producers keep on manipulating the collections of The Jungle Book, then it might beat PK after 3-5 months or if not, then it might become the Highest Grosser of 2016 in India.

Fan is one of the best critically acclaimed movie of 2016 and it has breathtaking performance by SRK so what went wrong on BO. Take a look
1. Critics appreciated FAN but people rejected it completely.
2. Even SRK’s diehard fans r not satisfied with the movie.
3. SRK is no more well connected with Indian audience.
4. SRK has been more concerned abt overseas BO than Indian BO.
5. SRK lost his rhythm due to heavy competition from his contemporaries.
6. SRK tried masala action flicks failed coz no one can digest SRK in a ruthless action hero. Memory reminder : dilwale shutter scene.
7. SRK disrespected his contemporaries in the past when he said amir a half hero n never appreciated salman’s performance, these things are now generating negativity in people’s mind.
8. SRK needs to accept that his golden period is over and he must stick to content rich movies n must not compete with salman n amir.
9. I’m the greatest actor of all time attitude please for god sake keep it in ur pocket n see other’s performances.

1) The director of 2 recent good but flop films- Highway and Tamasha(even deepika couldn’t save it).
