Sultan has just completed a record-breaking first week at the box office – smashing records of all previous films including the first week business of all-time-blockbusters like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dhoom 3 and PK.
The film has also surpassed the lifetime business of films like 3 Idiots, Happy New Year and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Hindi) in just one week.
While the first week business is record-breaking, the trend over the weekdays hasn’t been great for the film. Bigger than expected drops were witnessed on both Monday and Tuesday, after a huge extended weekend.
Two things are certain now; one, the film has no chance of surpassing the business of PK (we had mentioned in one of our earlier reports, that the only record that has eluded Salman Khan since 2010 has been the highest grosser of all time), two, the trend isn’t as good as both PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The first extended week collections will finish at around the 230 crore mark. Dhoom 3 added 70 crore after 9 days with plenty of holiday and a free run. Sultan will be competing with Great Grand Masti, Friday onwards, so it remains to be seen what sort of impact the sex comedy will have on the Salman Khan starrer.

As i said earlier movie is not great even it is just one time watch.Record breking first week because three holidays in first weekend and salman star power but salman starer should have been recoreded highest single day collection becuase present standing of salaman but it fail to break his own PRDP first day 40cr record forget HNY.Looking at current trend and realise of GGM this week even D3 record looking difficult or it will get close or just break D3 Record.BB and PK record will beat by eighther SRK or Amir.Srk given HGOAT with OSO,RNBJ,CE but that was shortest peried after that broken by Amir.Amir Given HGAT with Gajani,PK,D3 and PK and Salman given with HAHK that to 20years ago.Salman in his prime form not given Highest weekend and highest single day or highest grosser of all time.Even with movie like BB he fails..shame on that stardum…..

the occupancy rate droped more then 70% , i dont think it will collect 300 cr. , max i would say 270 , as GGM relesaing on 15th will eat all sultan business.

So the biggest megastar in the history of Bollywood enjoying the best phase of his career with good word of mouth,largest release that too solo still failed to beat the opening day collection of Hny and lifetime collection of Pk both having released more than 1.5 years ago.Surprising!!
Personally didn’t find the movie as good as many others had mentioned.
Two things are certain till Dec 2016:
1. PK will remain HG of all time.
2. BB will remain 2nd HG of all time.
Two things that are unlikely:
1. Sultan crossing 300 crore.
2. Sultan crossing Dhoom 3 worldwide.
Now, fight for HGOTY will intensify after Sultan ending its run around 270 crore and Dangal releasing in December.
If content clicks, Dangal would easily sail past Sultan in 2 weeks straight.
Drop in collections of Sultan..Now Dangal will beat lifetime of PK ?
Obviously salman himself sais this many times “Aamir ka record todne ki bahut koshish ki par tutta hi nahi” Indicine u mentioned D3 had holidays .didn’t Sultan had 5 days extended weekend…2 days of Eid .2nd Saturday, basi Eid..? Sultan had the highest ticket price rate ever.. Film had 70% drop on Monday itself do u think it will hold even if get free run? 3i had competition with Avatar. We didn’t say anything..but sallu fans always cry..coz they know they can never beat an Aamir Khan film.
It will be Salman’s Second 300cr movie the only Actor !

I think all the khans are capabale to cross 100cr in the opening weekend….so that movie should be released before EDX holidays…….that helps the movie to get momentum and finally will get healthy total

So PK will remain the Highest Grosser of All Time . In this decade Salman has given Back to Blockbusters, 200 CR Grossers but this record has always eluded Salman . ETT in 2012, BB in 2015 and now Sultan in 2016 . ETT had the best chance to beat 3 Idiots but it felled short by 4 CR . Dangal will have a tough competition to be the HGOTY in Dec . I always knew Sultan will not a solid run in the weekdays . The 2nd weekend will give a clear idea what kind of impact GGM can do to Sultan . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This also proves one thing. 5 day weekend benefitted the film abundantly. If Sultan had released on Friday, 230 would’ve been difficult.
