Sultan has just completed a record-breaking first week at the box office – smashing records of all previous films including the first week business of all-time-blockbusters like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dhoom 3 and PK.
The film has also surpassed the lifetime business of films like 3 Idiots, Happy New Year and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Hindi) in just one week.
While the first week business is record-breaking, the trend over the weekdays hasn’t been great for the film. Bigger than expected drops were witnessed on both Monday and Tuesday, after a huge extended weekend.
Two things are certain now; one, the film has no chance of surpassing the business of PK (we had mentioned in one of our earlier reports, that the only record that has eluded Salman Khan since 2010 has been the highest grosser of all time), two, the trend isn’t as good as both PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The first extended week collections will finish at around the 230 crore mark. Dhoom 3 added 70 crore after 9 days with plenty of holiday and a free run. Sultan will be competing with Great Grand Masti, Friday onwards, so it remains to be seen what sort of impact the sex comedy will have on the Salman Khan starrer.

Sultan has xceedd all xpectations…its getting more than wat it deservd
So its clear that movie got benefit from the Solo release in Eid Holiday Period. People who boast about the collections should consider some facts. Ever since Dabangg released in 2010 , Salman always gets holiday advantage. When he released Jai ho in January we saw his performance. This applies to Aamir as well . Let them release in Non holiday and Let them face a clash with a big movie then everyone will understand the actual picture. The only time SRK got the real benefit of Holiday is 2013 Eid for Ce and he broke all existing records that too with just 6 open days and mixed response to the film. Requesting Indicine to consider these facts while writing articles about Stardom.
Now one can imagine the kind of stardom that salman Is currently holding from the fact that now ppl r not happy even though sultan is going 2 touch 300cr mark and saying rubbish like it will crash,not break pk record etc…guys why r u not talking about the unimaginable 1st wk collection that sultan set?
Mathematically, sultan is sure to cross 300cr barrier, why not.

Watched sultan today and must say I was duped and my money wasted ,it was a standard salman masala film with glaring loopholes and nothing more ,many people I know who have watched it felt the same.The film made lots of money on the first extended eid weekend coupled by salman’s star power from Mon onwards the collections have fallen drastically showing that it has received mixed response.Today I watched the movie in a near empty cinema hall in the afternoon.Its an average movie ,I will give it 2 on 5,I don’t know why indicine and other reviewers rated the movie so highly ,I doubt these were paid reviews lesson I learnt is never trust reviews and critics coz they have their own agenda,right now salman is on top so that’s why majority of critics and reviewers don’t want to angry him to remain in his good backs and give good reviews for this totally bakwas movie,watch sultan at ur own risk ,its a wastage of time.money and resources and it is made only for hardcore blind salman fans and no one else ,I guess the makers forgot that there are neutral audiences also

Though PK and BB seem out of reach, the records that sultan has collected is too high to be broken by anyone else but salman himself. More importantly, salman has given a much needed hope to the industry against Hollywood threat that’s growing with considerable pace.
On a sad note, war between SRK and Salman fans only seem to intensify with gap between their so called stardom getting bigger each passing year. There also seems a possibility that SRK fans might promote/watch Dangal to make sure SULTAN doesn’t become this year’s highest grosser.
Hopefully fan wars will end someday and industry personnels will so work together that big films with huge budget don’t clash. Bollywood seriousky needs to stand united.
