Singh Is King released world wide today and the Akshay Kumar movie is off to a historic opening at the box-office. The preview shows across the country were houseful. Shows for the entire weekend are sold out. In North India, its tough to get tickets for the movie at single screens or Multiplexes.
A few multiplexes are showing only Singh is King across all screens. The movie which releases on more than 1000 prints in India looks set to beat the opening week records set by Shahrukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Hrithik Roshan’s Dhoom 2.
With a budget of 50 crores and more spent on marketing, Singh is King needs atleast 58 crores+ to be a hit. The craze and hype will ensure 40+ crores in Week 1, how the movie performs in the second week will be the key. Most movies released on such huge number of prints crash in the second week, but with Singh is King even a 50% – 55% crash shouldnt affect its box-office outcome.

The craze in Pakistan is unbelievable. Most shows are sold out, it will most certainly go on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.
In UK, the preview shows were sold out.. The craze for the film has to be seen to be believed. Akshay Kumar is a big star in UK and the movie is set to beat some serious box-office records. The numbers will be out by Tuesday morning (IST). So stay tuned.
Going by the initial reports our Box office Collections Prediction for Singh is King in India
Week 1 – 46 crores
Week 2 – 21 crores
Week 3 – 11 crores
Rest of the weeks – 10 crores
Total : Around 88 – 90 crores. (Superhit – Blockbuster)
So the question is, can Singh Is King beat the overall Nett Gross of blockbusters like Dhoom 2 and Om Shanti Om? If Singh Is King goes on to exceed the intial prediction, does it mean he has beaten SRK in the numbers game?

Surely,Akshay is a big star in India also after the UK stary list.He has been always one of the best in action(along with Ajay Devgan) then in comedy and now he has grown as complete actor.
Please note & judge that Shahrukh has only given hits with big banner(yash raj,karan johar,subhash ghai etc.) but akshay has sarvived & grown with the low-intensity directors/banners.
He has always made his presence felt now-n-then – as he is from ofcourse punjabi.
Keep moving up akshay always”Jai Mata Di” & you were also correct that There is only one king in Bollywood-Amitabh Bachan.

Hey! People Akshay is a very very very very good actor as my opinion. Sanjay dutt has given a lots of hit and Blockbuster movies like Naam, Sadak , Thanedarni, Sajan, Khalnayak and so on early in 1986 -1992. But his case of Mumbai he had to go in the jail 1993. I think he has done nothing, because he was caught a weapon that īs does not mean he has done in mumbai bomb blast something. In USA everybody can have a pistole in the age of 16!!!
If Sanjay dutt has not gone in the 1993 in the jail, he would be the KING OF BOLLYWOOD after AMITABH BACHCHAN not the Shahrukh Khan. You got it people.

sanjay dutt would have been no.1 way back in the early 90’s, before shah rukh khan. i was a teenager during that era, and i clearly remember sanjay dutts superstardom and charisma, not forgetting his chemistry and superhot pairing with madhuri dixit.
if sanjay dutt was not sent to jail, he would have most definately been no.1 for at least a few years.
who can forget his awesome performance in the classic ‘saajan’ which elevated him to superstar status. those songs in that film were real gems too. i still listen to those songs today. with saajan, sadak and khal nayak, sanjay dutt was the hottest property in bollywood. was on the brink of being no.1 with a couple more films, but then all his projects were shelved as he was sent to jail. that ruined his career and life. really sad, considering what could have been. beleive it or not i was looking forward to sanjay dutt being no.1, at the time. there was no question he would have been no.1 we were all dissapointed when he was sent to jail. huge blow for us all. then shah rukh khan came along, jumped on the yash raj bandwagon, and a couple of years later becomes no.1.
people also forget that before sanjay dutt, anil kapoor was no.1 and the king of bollywood !! yes, anil kapoor !! not amitabh bhachan. dont people remember that ? anil kapoor was no.1 for about 5-6 years and was an awesome actor at the time. his pairing with madhuri dixit was hot.
but i consider sanjay dutts pairing with madhuri dixit to be the best, although they didn’t make many films together. but thier pairing was pure majic and the chemistry between the two was mind blowing. just watch thier films and when both of them come together on screen, see how you feel. they were awesome together.
ok. so, before shah rukh khan, who was no.1.? here is how it goes, and is the truth, the actors that were no.1 (or close to being no.1) following on from amitabh bhachan, until now. this is the correct, true list:
1. amitabh bhachan (was no.1 for about 14 years)
2. mithun chakraborty (was no.1 or close to being no.1 for about 4 years, close to displacing amitabh from the no.1 position)
3. anil kapoor (was no.1 for about 5 years)
4. sanjay dutt (close to no.1 for about 3 years)
5. shah rukh khan (no.1 for about 12 years)
6. akshay kumar (new no.1 ? definately on top for the past 4 years, and may have displaced shah rukh khan this year for the no.1 slot, and becoming the new king of bollywood)
the other two actors : aamir khan and salman khan were never no.1. – they always occupied the no. 2-3 positions. but they were considered superstars on thier own right.
i think akshay kumar is the new king of bollywood though.

Raj: I think u have forgotten Hrithik Roshan who really deserves to be no. one for some good movies which changed Bollywood and took it to a (higher & brighter stage), but Akshay didn’t do any thing special yet! Akshay is a good actor, I like him too, but he’s doing only some comedy which satisfy u all and nothing else.
Comparing Hrithik, Shahrukh, Akshay, Aamir ( for me) Shahrukh & Hrithik only, these r the 2 actors who did some changes in Bollywood, Shahrukh as he did many good movies and he won everyone’s heart, and maybe just one out of 10 was a flop, and Hrithik with his (look & performance). Koi Mel Gaya, then Krrish, then Dhoom2, very deserving movies, and no one knows, now he’s working on Krrish2 and another movie called Kite.
If we’ll go by numbers, Hrithik & Shahrukh, both must be at number (1)
Akshay & Aamir at Number (2)

I have seen SINGH IS KING . It is a very very very very good movie. I think this movie will be the all time Blockbuster in period of 2000-2008. I have heard AKKi get now 72 crore for only one film after the success of SINGH IS KINNG. Maybe AKKi will get in the near future 100 crore Rupees for only one film. Akshay is the KING, BADSHAH and Emperor of the Bollywood after AMITABH BACHCHAN and SHAH RUKH KHAN. I think AKKI will rock the Bollywood next 15 years. I love you AKKI.

Raj: And ( Jodhaa Akbar) which was a brilliant movie for Hrithik ( which I 4got to mention earlier) and did almost 75crore or more, I’m not sure.. So.. I think he really deserves to be number (1) with Shahrukh.
Hrithik got everything and doesn’t lack anything except that he can’t do some funny scenes as he’s not a comedian, doesn’t go for him. When Akshay Kumar started doing comedy movies, I couldn’t accept him in those roles he did and didn’t find him funny at all because (funny people) must look funny, must behave as comedian, and when Akshay tried so, was just like wearing a wrong pair of shoes!!
Now, I got used to his roles in comedy movies and no one knows, Hrithik might follow the same path in future!
