One of the most awaited films of 2014, a film that reunites the ‘Main Hoon Naa’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’ actor-director duo of Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan will not release on 23rd October. The film which was earlier scheduled to hit screens on Diwali day, has been postponed by a day. The multi-starrer will now release on 24th October. An official announcement on the same will be made on 14th August.
A source close to the film has also revealed that it was SRK’s decision to release the film on 24th. While most of his blockbusters have released on Diwali, the idea to release the film a day after Diwali is simple – to break opening day box office records.
“Farah wanted to release on Diwali day. It was Shah Rukh’s call to hold back by a day. We were all surprised considering his big blockbusters including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge were released on Diwali. But I think Shah Rukh feels audiences don’t want to step out of their homes on Diwali day.He feels they like to do Laxmi puja on that day at home.” a source was quoted as saying.
While there are reports that the makers could organise ‘preview shows’ after 6PM on Diwali, Happy New Year has every chance of going on to be the first film to collect more than 40 crore on its opening day.
SRK’s 2011 release Ra One was one of his most poorly received films ever, yet the film easily broke the record for the highest single day collections on its second day. Ra One released on Diwali, Happy New Year will release a day after.
Directed by Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan, Happy New Year stars Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah.

It was simply a safest bet,releasing movie on diwali is safe bet and releasing on Next day of Diwali is safest. So srk is eying for breaking records. And he said i don’t believe in nos. Lol. If movie is good than this is a setback decision as they will easily loose 20-25cr which they can get if it release on Diwali, next day will definitely biggest whether it will release earlier or later, but if wom is not good than it will take hny to hit/superhit zone comfortably. But honestly speaking its a coward decision. Last year when ce broke the record still Aamir released his film on 20th i.e. Non holiday still it crashed ce from first day but srk is eying to break d3 weekend but he forget D3 95cr hindi (102cr all language) came on non-holiday but hny 100-110 will come on 3 day holiday weekend same like ce. So still srk will break his record of ce 87cr not D3.hahaha. @sss complan effect this decision looks great for this kid,srk showing world how to break record on diwali. Pre Eid only 14 % muslims stay away from theaters though not all.
While in pre diwali and since afternoon in diwali day 86% of hindus stays at home enjoyning dhanteras and other festives.
So pre diwali and diwali is a huge loss for films.
For ex — K3 and Boss.

Now a days openning day record is very crucial, for a example ce broke ett oppening by manipulation but due to huge hype by creating opening record after average wom, ce broke lifetime records, same if hny do 45cr 1st day then it instantly create huge buzz despite average wom n will break all existing record.

@charlie yes Aamir is shifting his films 6 month ahead and clashing with bombay velwet & wb but Aamir doesn’t need to went to them to prepone or postpone films to avoid clash. But Srk ce which earlier was to release in july, waiting for Salman’s statement whether he come on Eid 2013 or not. Than decided to release on Eid and clashing with OUATIMD than he visited to jitendra to postpone their film. This is called the real Himmatwala mr. Charlie. While Aamir just decided his film release to cristmas, Srk did 3 step. Waiting for Salman’s statement,than lock the released date than visited to Balaji. Genius nevertheless and also back stabber.

Off the Topic. Singham Return is going to release 4200+ screen worldwide. Biggest of Ajay Devgn. Within that around 550 screen open in overseas theater and 3700 screen in India. 15th august is a national holiday so i am expecting 22/23 cr. opening. Which would be biggest for Ajay Devgn.

and haters like @sss khan and @Lauki Jockey, even though Aamir Sir postponed it to Christmas, he never begged Anurag Kashyap or Anees Bazmee to postpone their movies..also he has scheduled it for 19th whereas BV and WB scheduled to 25th..and if they don’t have the spine to clash with Aamir, then it isn’t AK’s problem..wherein even Randeep Hooda or Himesh isn’t afraid to clash with our King..infact AK has the best success rate in clashes as evident in the past..Also actors like AK, Bhai and even Duggu dared to release their movies during pre Eid, Christmas or Diwali and have gained..
