Shah Rukh Khan has hinted that Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment’s Raees, could be pushed to a later date if Yash Raj Films’ Sultan is ready for a Eid release next year.
DNA India, which carried an article earlier this week that Sultan was postponed, have quoted Shah Rukh as saying “I guess we (Raees) could shift. But I don’t know the readiness of Sultan. Raees will be ready in January, in like 20 days. Plus, they all are friends – Adi (Aditya Chopra), Salman, Ali (Abbas Zafar), I know them all”
A source at YRF had informed us on Wednesday that their film would be ready in time for Eid. Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar had also spoken about requiring only 90 more days to complete the film.
From a trade point of view, the big clash between Raees and Sultan does not make any sense whatsoever. Both makers will lose money and no one stands to gain. The battle will only be about egos, much like the clash between Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale.
Even averting clashes has now become a ego game, because it was Excel Entertainment who first finalised their film for Eid 2016.
For Shah Rukh, it’s also about spacing out his films. FAN releases mid-April and releasing Raees less than 3 months after the film, wouldn’t be a great idea.

I honestly believe Sultan would collect more during the opening weekend, but Raees would eventually win the lifetime battle due to its WOM if the clash were to happen.

If Raees is ready by January and will only take a couple of months for post production so I don’t see any reason pushing it to a later date..Also when last time SRK released his film in Eid it became the highest grosser ever so he should stick to that date…Also,SRK himself said that Raees is perfect for Eid so it should release because the teaser is simply outstanding so it just needs an equally well accepted trailer and good promotional strategies coupled with good content and then the film will surely do very well.

Honestly speaking i want Raees to prevent Sultan from crossing 200cr like BM did to Dilwale. And no matter which film is better they will have to divide 320cr between them like 165cr to the better movie and 155cr to the other one.
The problem here is that it’s Sutan which is going to get hurt by a clash, and Raees just like BM will collect the same (around 160cr) with clash or without clash. Sultan and Dilwale are kind of films that need to release solo to cash on huge oppenings but with a clash they suffer a lot. So if YRF avert the clash with any other big film not only a SRK film will gain a lot!

Dilwale 7th Day Collection (Thursday):
Dilwale has shown good growth on Thursday. Going by early trends Dilwale 7th day box office collection will be in the range of 9.5-10 crore depending upon night shows.
Shahrukh Khan starrer Dilwale has a good occupancy in the morning shows. The single screens were rock solid while multiplexes sustained well. The overall occupancy was 15-20%. West Bengal is still going super strong having the best hold. While South India has done decent business as well
Dilwale 7th day collection was boosted in the evening shows as tomorrow is a holiday. The Hollywood film Star Wars The Force Awakens released today which is quite popular in metro cities. But it did not affect Dilwale collection much as SRK starrer is mainly collecting in single screens.
Dilwale box office collection in 7 days will be around 102.89 crore. Dilwale first week collection box office will be third highest of 2015. It is behind only Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

It’s good that the makers of Raees have postponed their release. The Eid spot is for Salman and he created the period as lucarative with Wanted.
If the films were clashing in Diwali, I would have said Salman should prepone/postpone Sultan because Diwali spot is known for releasing SRK films.
Hence Raees might now be released on Independence day. And we’ll support Raees if it is true.
