At 1:52AM on Saturday morning, when the news was out that his latest release Bajrangi Bhaijaan had recorded historic collections at the box office, Salman Khan took to Twitter to talk about 1993 Mumbai bomb blast convict Yakub Menon.

Salman’s tweets were immediately criticised on Twitter. Politicians too said he should retract his statement as it is against the Supreme Court’s decision.
The first reaction to Salman’s tweet came from his father Salim Khan, who called it meaningless “My son’s tweets regarding Yakub Memon are meaningless. I do not support his statements. His tweets are wrong.”
A few other reactions to Salman’s tweets:
Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam “His statement directly amount to contempt to court. The impression created amongst his followers is that Yakub is innocent. What proof does Salman Khan have? In the first set of tweets, he appealed Pakistan to hand over Tiger. While I welcome his appeal, this also means that he is aware of his location. The country is known for its belief on judiciary and Khan’s statement has questioned it.”
Abha Singh (lawyer): Salman himself is a convict who has been given a punishment of 5 yrs, still he has audacity to say Yakub is innocent. Is he trying to question judicial system of country? His statement is very improper and against rule of law.
Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena): Is he trying to question the judicial system of the nation? One shouldn’t pay attention to such things, it should be ignored.
Raza Murad (Actor): That’s Salman’s personal opinion, he has a right to express opinion as a citizen of democratic nation.

Salman Khan should issue an apology hastily, there was no need for such a ridiculous comment from him.
I understand that he is a free-speaker and someone who has created a loyal fan following based on such a characteristic.
I would also appeal to the many of his fans who are defending his actions, have a read of the Yakub Menon case, Yakub was a terrorist who was in league with his brother and was reponsible for the death of many innocent citizens, any punishment he receives is a just punishment, when a person takes anothers life willingly, he loses all human rights he had access to.
Salman Khan, as a citizen of India (whether guilty or not in his own court case) should know that with his stardom comes with ALOT of social responsibility. His views and actions are copied and implemented by his fans worldwide, he therefore should exercise restraint in his actions.
I’ve always believe that Bollywood and Politics should be kept far apart. Actors should stick to enetertaining their audience and leave criminality to the judiciary system in India.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion. All of you god damn know that you have been passing judgement on everyone else left right and centre! So what is the difference in salman’s case? According to him, he says that a person should not be hanged for the acts of his brother. Is this wrong to say? If he is mistaken and doesn’t know the whole story , they should enlighten him instead of saying that he should not go against the court decisions. And if tiger’s brother did not have anything to do with the crime, you all would be guilty for his death as well as you wanted him to be hanged!!!
