At 1:52AM on Saturday morning, when the news was out that his latest release Bajrangi Bhaijaan had recorded historic collections at the box office, Salman Khan took to Twitter to talk about 1993 Mumbai bomb blast convict Yakub Menon.

“Yakub Abdul Razak Memon is an Indian terrorist and chartered accountant, who was convicted over his involvement in the 1993 Bombay bombings by Special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities court on 27 July 2007. Yakub Memon is the brother of one of the prime suspects in the bombings, Tiger Memon. Following a series of appeals, the Supreme Court of India rejected his final appeal on 21 July 2015. He is currently scheduled to be executed by hanging on 30 July 2015.”

Salman’s tweets were immediately criticised on Twitter. Politicians too said he should retract his statement as it is against the Supreme Court’s decision.
The first reaction to Salman’s tweet came from his father Salim Khan, who called it meaningless “My son’s tweets regarding Yakub Memon are meaningless. I do not support his statements. His tweets are wrong.”

Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam “His statement directly amount to contempt to court. The impression created amongst his followers is that Yakub is innocent. What proof does Salman Khan have? In the first set of tweets, he appealed Pakistan to hand over Tiger. While I welcome his appeal, this also means that he is aware of his location. The country is known for its belief on judiciary and Khan’s statement has questioned it.”
Abha Singh (lawyer): Salman himself is a convict who has been given a punishment of 5 yrs, still he has audacity to say Yakub is innocent. Is he trying to question judicial system of country? His statement is very improper and against rule of law.
Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena): Is he trying to question the judicial system of the nation? One shouldn’t pay attention to such things, it should be ignored.
Raza Murad (Actor): That’s Salman’s personal opinion, he has a right to express opinion as a citizen of democratic nation.
Salman tries to make India a terrorist country.where in night he’ll run his cruzer over roadside peoples and in the morning he’ll release and will make people fools.still I can’t believe a criminal actor who already verdicted with 5 year sentence still how freely can roam outside due to money power this is what incredible India.don’t know about anyone but after reading this comment @indicine will definitely will feel angry and will not publish my comment because I’m saying THE TRUTH.

Yes freedom of speech but you crossed some limits. U couldv skipped aspect of bringing in Pakistan prime minister or they d people of Pakistan in general. It tends to spur questions from international bodies which am sure if a paki celeb was referung to your president you wldnt find it funny.

when i was child my uncle was involved in a quarrel. other party went to police station my father also went for compromise but police arrested my father and they didnt release him until my uncle went there. later both did compromise after 5 year but my father pass his 2 days without any crime in police custody.
