I fear losing stardom, that love and respect from audience: Salman Khan

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is currently at the very peak of his glorious career, has said that the fear of losing stardom bothers him. The actor also said the fear is not just about losing stardom, but the love and respect that fans have for him.

“Everyone is scared of losing stardom. I would be lying if I say no. It’s not just the stardom… It’s that love, it’s that respect… Suddenly, it all gets over… That is one quality you are working so hard for and suddenly something happens and you are not the liked person any more… That bothers everyone.”

The ‘Sultan’ star was quick to point out that he has gone through a low phase in his career, when most of his films failed at the box office in the first decade of the century.. but said life is more than just being a hero in movies.

“You need to be that man who could take that. I have seen my father (writer Salim Khan) go through it… He has gone through it twice in his life. I myself have gone through that… I think life is more just than being a hero and star in movies. I think it’s a lot more than that” Salman said.

Salman also said, most actors (seniors who were major stars) had left the industry by the age of 50.

“One has to work hard at this point of time only because all our seniors left at this time only. By this age, almost everyone left (the industry). I saw a close-up of mine in one film, and I was like, ‘What is this? When I am only not liking it how others are going to like it’.”

To regain the love and support from the audience, the actor said he has had to put himself through a lot of pain, torture and hardwork.

Sultan releases in theatres during Eid this year.

  • Wow sir..but talking about respect nobody respects you or your films except your fans.I will narrate an incident of mine.I was travelling in a train and was interacting with a lady sitting next to me about my college and placement. And while reading the newspaper she came across your famous hit-and-run article and the lady who looked so sophisticated so far for the first time seemed annoyed and had said celebrities like Salman have made a mockery of judiciary and it’s a pity that this shameless guy has such fan following.

  • Yeh tu Hai Salman Bahi but Plz mustly u hav to say thank God without God blessing u r nothing ,And rest every has to see up and downs as we all know inshallah India always will remember u ,and story going to tell kids there was a Khan who never think about his Life and about his Wedding and just Make movies for gaining love and respect from peoples ,Don’t u worry Salman bahi we know every rising sun has to setting down LOVE U SALMAN BAHI GOD BLESS U , REALLY EMOTIONAL INTERVIEW

  • I don’t think it would that much difficult to live without stardom because he was somewhat used to it for more than a decade before remakes happend

  • Don’t worry you will lose the so called respect, love and your Eid made stardom after mahacrap sultan ?

  • Be proud that you’ve achieved so much without any acting or dancing skill !!! Enjoy Sultan’s success cause your time will soon be over…

  • Honest words by Salman. It is a natural fear which any person at the top lives with. No one wants to let go of its top position and wishes it can continue for eternity but obviously that is not to be.

And not just in film industry it is also applicable to sports and other areas. In cricket also when many cricketers are no longer the players they were but they still wanted to continue to remain in the team. Even a legend like Steve Waugh (and many other players too) had to face the pressure of either retiring himself or else he would be dropped from team. Many cricketers were forced to choose a dignified exit. But if given them an opportunity naturally many would want to continue to play forever.

So every rise has a fall and no one can continue for eternity. Many greats have come and gone like Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Big B (he is hanging on still though), Rajesh Khanna, etc. Naturally the Khans will have to leave the space for others too.

In this regard what Big B has achieved is really amazing as he is still contributing at the age of 73. Also Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth who are 60 plus are still there. Khans (and also Akshay and Ajay) should go that way too.

  • Serioulsy can’t tolerate these old people more than two years. Bring new tilent else stop Hindi industry. Hollywood movies do business just bsce of of content not actors.

  • #wolverine Sylvester is liked for action but you know in bollywood there is nothing except love story. Tell me how many want salman 70 year actor love story?

  • Yes, The Eid Made Non Actor Salman Said True…

That is why You are not releasing any of your crap films other than Eid Festival…

We all bet, You shall lose everything…!!!

  • What Salman said is true. He is the biggest Bollywood star currently, and obviously, when the God himself (Sachin Tendulkar) feared, that he would lose his form permanently, then what can we say about others.

Every professional who have achieved huge success have said they all live with such fear, and there is nothing bad to reveal it. It shows that finally, no matter who we are or what we acheived, we all are still humans.

  • @1:28pm Chullu

Well atleast we respect bhai n watch his films which clearly isnt the case with you paglapurians…!

Tell us again what percentage of Kings global 3.6 billion pankha factory workforce out of respect watched his last tribute film to his fans- The Broken Pankha…?

Dont talk nonsense about respect coz neither your star has any respect for his fans coz if he did then he wouldnt have depicted his biggest fan as a complete deranged psychopathic murderous lunatic n you guys would have tortured yourself by watching that mahacrap in your billions…!

  • @Saksham,I agree with you till a certain extent. But I’d also like to add that Salman’s statement is brutally honest, and it shows that if he,currently the biggest star of the country, is insecure about his Stardom, then anyone can be.And admitting such a thing in public takes courage .My respect for you just increased Salman sir.Proud to be a Salman fan!

  • @Challa
ok let’s suppose only his fans respect him which is not a truth but suppose it U know the number of his fans-> more than Srk.
In India it is aproven fact & if u say overseas than u should know that Salman don’t go to other countries like Srk for promotions ,when he goes to other countries thn their are rallies of fans. GLOBAL MEGASTAR IS NOT THE ONE PRONOUNCED BY 2-3 TV CHANNELS OR FEW THOUSAND FANS. THERE ARE ONLY TWO GLOBAL MEGASTARS, SALMAN & RAJNI. Their movies are seen just to have their glimpses & don’t tell me that why not before 2009 bcoz their is a certain years of hardwork after which U achieve Super Stardom & he is having it for a Decade & with due respect Srk has not achieved that yet.
Salman had a bad phase but still the Opeinging of his movies from 2000-2008 but most of his movies has excellent openings infact better than Srk movies mostly.
If someone say that at that he was successful in Comedy which was flavour of that time So what is Srk doing in this decade the genre which is going good with audience and giving strictly hit or controvercial hits excpt CE.
Giving Flop at this time is much more than a Disaster Bcoz at this time Khan’s are not what they were b4 2009.
Salman may have a low phase but Box Office was he was way ahead might be 1 or 2 years.
Those who say that he is Bcoz of remakes then what Srk is without Yrf or Dhrama? & Srk also had remakes official or unofficial but he was not that much successfull.
Its media who has supported Srk vastly & people was always with Sallu, If had realy that much bad phase than till 2005-6 he would have disappeared.
I have given the due respect to Srk and will agree that the 3 Khan’s are the best ever and they are equal but Salman is a peoples man and special.
If u say only his fans love him then Ur wrong they Worship him and others Respect him,if a few people like U don’t respect him then it’s ok everyone can’t Ur admirrer in the same way their will be Salman fans who will not respect Srk. So continue hate?
Whatever there was no one , their is no and it will be near to impossible If someone can match up the Super Stardom of Salman Khan forget Crossing it.

  • @Indicine plz post this comment Onstead of previous one
