In an interview with Hindustan Times, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has said that the preference given to ‘festive releases’ is stupid and uninteresting.
While his last non-festive release was ‘My Name Is Khan’ way back in 2010, Khan says “when I release a film, that should be a festival”.
Some excerpts from his interview:
No, it’s (Diwali) not my slot. As a matter of fact, I’ve stopped releasing films on festivals. I always tell everyone, ‘When I release a film, that should be a festival’.
Eid mein namaz padthe hai, Diwali mein puja karte hai (we read Namaz during Eid and do puja during Diwali). Now, it’s become all about releasing a film on a date. It’s stupid and uninteresting.
(I would) release a film the day it’s completed. Whoever wants to come, come, whoever doesn’t want to come, don’t come.

Yes,agneepath got an extra holiday(which is a single holiday). But it cann’t be called as a festive release or post ipl release.it was a non-festive release just like jai ho.that’s y i compared their collection. agneepath had also way better content that average to below average jai ho.

@hrithik. U havent got my point. All I am saying is Salman was lucky to be a part of such films. I gave u the reason to prove tht his star power has not increased after MNK, HAHK or Sajan. He was just a star who was part of a blockbuster movie like Amisha Patel was in KNPH and Gadar. In MPK, Bhagyashree stole the show and later she was flooded with offer which she rejected. If he was such a craze then why he didt get a role after MPK? SRK became craze after DDLJ, Hrithik became craze after KNPH, Aamir became craze after Gajini, Salman became craze after Dabangg. Salman may have become popular star like Imran khan had become after his first film but that’s not craze. on to ur second point, ofcos Karan Johar and SRK may have said Salman made an impact in KKHH and I totally agree with them. Salman made an impact so does SRK’s onscreen daughter in the film, the kid who always looks at the sky and counts the stars and many other may have made an impact in the film but SRK is the hero.
