In an interview with Hindustan Times, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has said that the preference given to ‘festive releases’ is stupid and uninteresting.
While his last non-festive release was ‘My Name Is Khan’ way back in 2010, Khan says “when I release a film, that should be a festival”.
Some excerpts from his interview:
No, it’s (Diwali) not my slot. As a matter of fact, I’ve stopped releasing films on festivals. I always tell everyone, ‘When I release a film, that should be a festival’.
Eid mein namaz padthe hai, Diwali mein puja karte hai (we read Namaz during Eid and do puja during Diwali). Now, it’s become all about releasing a film on a date. It’s stupid and uninteresting.
(I would) release a film the day it’s completed. Whoever wants to come, come, whoever doesn’t want to come, don’t come.
Khan’s upcoming release ‘Happy New Year’ releases on October 24 2014, a day after Diwali.

Good line from him, but his statement about festival releases is confusing and contradicting to what he’s doing, his HNY is releasing on Diwali, his last non festival release was MNIK way back in 2010. He must have been drunk while giving this statement. If not, then lets see if he sticks to his words in future.

Honest srk fans should agree with me,bcoz srk has said the same…
The main reason why SRK is not interested in festival dates is he is not getting those dates bcoz SALMAN doesn’t leave EID and AAMIR doesn’t leave CHRISTMAS both r biggest festival timings. And he cant clash with them bcoz he knws he cant beat SALMAN on EID and AAMIR on CHRISTMAS. So he has no choice but releasing in non festival timings.

@dev who r u to call aamir coward. You are drnk or what. He has best success rate. Lagaan clashed with gaddar and still it was superhit. While we all know what happened when jab tak jai jaan clashed with sos and jaaneman clashed with shehen shah BIG B’s remake movie.
