Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees has moved from Eid this year to the Republic Day weekend next year, a date that is occupied by two other big films – Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Ajay Devgn’s Baadshaho.
While pressure from fans (‘Raees on Eid’ has been trending almost every other day) has prevented Ritesh Sidhwani and Shah Rukh Khan to officially announce or even talk about the postponement of Raees on social media, director Rahul Dholakia has had to mince words to confirm that the film is no longer releasing during Eid.
“Film ke liye jo sahi woh sahi. Thank you for your continued support for Raees. Love you all” Dholakia tweeted earlier today.
Official statement from Shah Rukh Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar “t was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that this film is highly anticipated. However, a movie of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017.”

Now that the release date is confirmed, one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most promising films will be ‘too old’ when it releases in theatres. The film will hit screens nearly 19-20 months after the teaser, which was unveiled back in July last year.
Moreover, while the clash with Sultan has been averted, it sets up yet another clash with two other films. Hrithik might move, but Ajay Devgn is known to be stubborn with his release dates.
If yet another clash is what you want, why move from Eid? If your film is not ready, it would probably be a better decision to occupy the Diwali or Christmas weekend. Those two dates can accommodate two big films, but that won’t be the case with Republic Day weekend next year.
Why did they let go of the ‘Bakrid’ weekend, which falls in the second week of September? It was a 4-day weekend and a perfect time to release a film like ‘Raees’. It was their own film ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ (Excel and Dharma) which is scheduled to release during that weekend and ‘Raees’ being the bigger film could have arrived on September 9.
Thats not going to be a good decision..
It will fall short of expectation.

SRK lost his super stardom since the underperformance of Dilwale and flopped Fan, now it’s impossible for him to match stardom of both Salman and Aamir. The best thing for him is to think how to remain on spotlight as long as possible before his roles reduce to supporting in big movies and lead in small budget movies, this guy gets so much heat from general audience and now at his age it’s impossible for him to make a strong comeback. I told you people yesterday itself that raees will be releasing on 26th January and I will repeat it here again that it won’t cross 100 cr. At any cost whatever those bikau critics rate it. Srk list of flop films is going to increase and it is a suicidal decision to release it then. The important point to note here is the slope of downfall of srk is very steep which tells us his intolerance comment is somewhere to blame for all this bulshit

Shahrukh might have won clashes when he was at the top position but when he is at a career low why is he running away from Salman?
Look at Akshay, even after Brothers turned out to be a disaster, he dared to clash with an epic adventure saga like Mohenjodaro.
When u r at a peak stage u can do anything, but ur true aukaat comes out when ur at a career low.
So now SULTAN and DANGAL are only two movies in the competition for HGOTY So for me there is only 3 movies who can become HGOTY: Sultan ATBB Dangal ATBB Again this year 2016 there is No chance for Haklu khan Disaster khan to get the HGOTY too much fun

Raees should release on 4 days weekend of Bakra-Eid in September 2016 or other release date is 2nd October which is also a holiday
Not a very wise decision coz delaying for so many months and that too when SRK is on loosing streak will hamper the already hampered prospects of the film. THe audience would loose all the interest in the film by then and for srk fans….this is embarrassing for his fans to see his film postponed by whatever reason but the general conception will be that the makers could not take risk of releasing it with sultan….last decade…this would not have been the case

after thinking about the release date i realized its extremly stupid to clash with two other big movies, so raees will not release on that day. its just stupid
just go to a non holiday release with no competition and if it has good content or entertainment value it will have good collections like bhaagi this weekend which is just entertainment
But the maker of raees have ZERO confidence in this movie.
Already there is huge negativity going around SRK, first due to intolerance remark and then ,due to poor performance of FAN.
And after this move, I am sure even few of his die-hard fans will be upset.

I’ve seen you rising for the last 25yrs and I was so happy to saw your success & you were climbing up higher & higher each passing day. I celebrated more on Diwali than any festivals because your movies were used to came on this festival. I rarely comment on this site but i am coming here everyday all the day. I couldn’t eat properly and you make me suffering Insomnia during the time of Dilwale. But, i fought all that bad time and came out with the hope of new beginning with FAN. Then, i suffered Insomnia again after the failure of FAN at BO. But, the fantastic performance has bringing smile on my face & hoping to woo the critics and won several awards next year.
After disappointed again & again, I was looking for Raees as this is the only movie of him that has potential to appreciate universal by both critics & audiences. To be honest, i had little fear about Raees- Sultan clash as if raees do not get any favor & failed, that will be the end of his career. But, this negativity doesn’t stole my faith & confidence from what i had in his movies and him. Yes, I am really sad to learned that Raees has postponed. At the same time, i am happy that if Rees released in non-holiday period and do 200+cr then his losing stardom will back & rise again, so in the next movie everyone will think twice before clashing with him like used to be before.

Even if they would have preponed it, that would have been worked.
If content is strong, single week is enough to fetch huge money on B.O. and then , Eid is such a lucrative weekend that it can easily accommodate two movies at a time.
BB and Bahubali are the best examples for the same.

Has Srk also lost his business sense ? What benefit will Raees get if it clashes with two other big films instead of not clashing with Sultan on Eid ? If Mohenjodro and Shivaay became successful big time then Hrithik and Ajay are also not going to move . Success of magnum opus like Baahubali , Bajirao Mastani and The Jungle Book prove that Indian audience is liking this genre .
I think Raees team has no confidence in there project,i thought Raees was supposed to be a rich content film? i guess not or are afraid that Raees will have the same fate as FAN which was promoted as a content rich film.
A clash with Baadshaho and Kaabil is also not a good idea,Christmas weekend would have been great.
The only reason which can justify this decision is, “Makers are not very much confident about the content and they might re-shoot few parts”.
As I posted on one of the articles, Raees Team had arranged a screening where SRK and Ritesh discussed the various aspects of the movie, and it seems SRK was not very much happy with the way Raees has been shaped.
I know it’s a rumor , but as of now, I can see only this as a reason for such a long delay.
