The Tsunami named 3 Idiots that has swept the nation off its feet has claimed one more victim after last Friday’s 3 releases which went unnoticed, in the form of Yashraj Films latest release Pyaar Impossible.
The romcom date film starring Priyanka Chopra and Uday Chopra has failed to open to decent numbers at the box office. In India, the film has managed to nett less than 4 crores during its first weekend and witnessed further drops during the weekdays.
To put things into perspective, the Week 3 Friday business of 3 Idiots is more than the combined business of Pyaar Impossible during its entire 3 day weekend.
Dulha Mil Gaya the other release this week with Shahrukh Khan in a special appearance has been rejected outright, the film hasn’t even managed a face saving opening.

1. I don’t know on what basis you all are expecting MNIK to be a huge hit in India or overseas. The last film directed by Karan with SRK and big female stars was just about a hit. The last film written by Karan ( Kurbaan) was a resounding flop,. The last film with SRK-Adi combo was 1 80-cr hit bested by a mile by Ghajini. So what’s the big deal. Weren’t all of you expecting CCTC to be big overseas? What happened? and what’s this with Muslim viewpoint and Muslim audience. Tel me one film that has scored on that platform! Why didn’t Kurbaan did even decent business anywhere?
The problem with MNIK in my opinion is its script. Karan says it’s not baouta terrorism, it’s a human-interest love story. That’s a huge problem. Now # Idiots did not say, ‘ It’s not about education system, it’s a love story.”. RDB did not say, ” It’s not about political corruption, it’s a love story.” Ghajini did not sauy, ” It’s not an explosive revenge story, it’s a love story.” Karan and his love stories! And then your tagline says, ” My Name is Kahn, and I am not a terrorist’. Total confusion. Recipe for sure disaster, this Forrest Gump meets Kurbaan. Who among the desi audience cares for a Muslim in USA? 3 Idiots, Ghajni, RDBDJ, Chak De, TZP, RDB..are all rooted in India. The last whiffs of foreign soil craze among Indians is long evaporated, with the economic melt down and scepters of recession.
I will put my money HOUSEFULL n KITES any day. Something unpredictable can come out of that film. But not MNIK.

MNIK is sure shot winner,what do you think of fox,fox doesn`t cash on indian market,its huge plans can give never before numbers.
you cant even expect the magnitude of business MNIK can do ,3i success is purely based on marketing,and higher prices exam-150 rs ticket is raised to400 rs you know better which is best.
RBDJ is the highest grosser with 84 crore net ,it had started all the momentum,you should remember rab ne has very normal publicity unllike ghajini,aamir khan wants media only to promote his films.

COMEDY-srk is better(OSO,RAB NE,MOST OF HIS FILMS)AAMIR OVERACTS IN COMEDY SCENES.
ACTION-you know better,srk does his action scenes in the best way.
ROMANCE-girls know it better,srk rock in this.

if it is love story then aik aur love story and if it is abt terrorism then already audience has been sucked by this kind of movies and Kurbaan is latest example.
Sudeep, films do well based on there content, you mention Kurbaan,the reason it did not fire at the box office was due to its content, name one positive review? Films like sing is kinng and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna had bumper openings but faded into nothing when the critical acclaim was next to nothing, the basis of a film doing well is as Aamir Khan puts it “on content alone”,a film can only do as well as its content, you can promote it all you can, but if it has poor content it will not fire, that is why i think you are completely wrong, on what basis are you writing off My Name Is Khan? It content seems very good but of course you will have to wait until release to see if its content is really good. The films you mentioned above: Ghajini, RNBDJ,TZP, Chak de India, RDB and 3 idiots, yes they are rooted to India, but they all also have very good reviews, i remeber a few negative ones for Ghajini and RNBDJ but they paled in comparison to the positive ones. Its all about content mate.
I reckon My Name is Khan, if its content is good, has the potential to beat Ghajini at BO, postive reaction to both trailers and the 2 songs: Sajda and Noor-E-Khuda, expect a bumper opening but wether it sustains will be based solely on content. 3 idiots had a historic opening, it sustained because every review citied it was a near perfect film, critic reviews count for alot. I made the point before, all these “high flying films” like Singh Is Kinng, Chandi Chowk to China, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Kambhakt Ishq, they where all supposed to “break records”, they did not and every film had poor reviews.
IMO Housefull will take a bumper opening like every Akshay Kumar masala film, but just like his past films it will trail away into nothingned
due to poor content, name one film that Aksay Kumar has made that has been critically well received, his flops at the box office are now starting to show and IMO Kambhakkt Ishq was the worst film of his career, on par with Tasveer.
I agree with you on kites though, it looks very good and with it being a Hritik Roshan film, it is likely to please critics aswell. But is isnt KItes too set in America, and based on a form of dance that is Alien to Indians, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Dont understand how you can write off My Name is Khan, perhaps becuase the protaganist is Muslim? Will not say anymore.

Sudeep, i supoose apart from Indicine, 3.5 and 3/5 is good isnt’t, head to imdb, kurbaan got 5.4/10, by comparison singh is kinng (5/10), kambakkht ishq (3/10), and see how negative the user reviews are due to glaring plot holes in the film (watch the film you will understand), the film also got bad press because of the back baring in the poster, which put many muslims (inluding myself) off from seeing it in the cinema. I see how you have conveniantely missed out everything else in my argument.
Zakir, im a Hritik Roshan fan, but i thought the promos where very good, Sajda is a mind blowing song, as a muslim though i will support this film naturally.
Trailer has received more positive thoughts than negative ones, how else do you explain a facebook group that is close to 10 thousand, when at the same time nearing its release 3 idiots had a group wih only a size of a mere 2 thousand?

Im thankful that someone had to courage to make this sort of film where muslims are not the ones on the receiving end like Kurbaan and New York, whats even more amazing in my eyes is that the director is a hindu.
I also think that 3Idiots thunder storm will continue until Veer releases. Salman is lucky this time that his movie has got the release date exactly after 1 month of 3 Idiots otherwise 3 Idiots would have ruined Veer’s business as well. Anyway Chance pay Dance has no chance at the box office as It seems like one more Shahid’s stupid movie. I dunno why this guy does these kinda movies a lot when all of his movies of the same kind haven’t been able to make a mark at the box office…… Like Fool N Final, China Town, DBH, KK. I think He should do some different roles like Vivah, Jab We Met and Kaminey….
