The last time a festive Salman Khan release was NOT a blockbuster was when ‘Wanted’ released during Eid 2009! Since then, the superstar has released 6 films during one of the three major festivals (Eid, Diwali, Christmas) and all 6 films have gone on to be blockbusters or better.
5 of those films (Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan) released during Eid and one film (Dabangg 2, arguably his ‘smallest’ blockbuster) released during the Christmas weekend.
Interestingly, no Salman Khan film in the last 6 years has released during Diwali. The last film that released for Diwali was ‘London Dreams’ in 2009.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Why are we talking about this now? Well, the kind of response that ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has received both in India and Overseas, has taken the pre-release expectations from ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ to an altogether different level. The film is by far the hottest in trade circles and there are realistic expectations that the Sooraj Barjatya directed film will take a much bigger opening than the Kabir Khan classic.
Also, the Rajshri directed film reunites Khan with Barjatya, the director-actor duo of all-time grossers like ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ and ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’. What sort of response will ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ get?

Open day collections of Prem Ratan will be 50 crore + if its release will be similar to Happy New Year.

If PRDP is a huge success, and Sultan’s shooting etc., gets completed on time, it won’t be a surprise to see Raees getting shifted.
No way the makers of Raees going to clash with Salman at such a high popularity phase of his.
The only hiccup i see is the court cases, if at all.
1989,1994 and 1999 magic will return, come this Diwali.. The original Prem is back..

@indicine Dabangg 2 smallest blockbuster? really? dabangg 2 made 157 crores lifetime and took bumper weekend opening, so how can you say on which basis that it was his smallest blockbuster? I think his smallest blockbuster was ready.

I dont understand why many people including Indicine has predicted very less figures for PRDP.. If u look at the history only films with Sentimental values and pure love has created magic…Best examples wud b Sholay, MPK, HAHK, DDLJ, 3 idiots, PK,, BB, Gadar (with Action) and even Ghajini to some extent. If PRDP has a strong message and music, then Sky will be the limit. 400crores would be easily reached. Mark my words.. Lets wish Sooraj Barjatya has not lost his midas touch over script and direction. Salman will be rocking as usual.

@ saksham mpk was all time highest grosser if you add its telugu version collection. its hindi version was just few lacs less from sholay.
Sonam Kapoor is the biggest letdown/drawback of prdp….
I wish Salman would have taken any good/popular actress…

I would like to ask all Indicine users not only Srk fans if wom is decide lifetime collection (which is true in a way) then movies like Swades (which is one of the best performance of Srk) did not work? If Srk fans saying DDLJ, KKHH n Chak De India solely worked due to Srk then isn’t hypocrisy to give all credit of BB success is due to content not Salman ??? A superstar helps to bring audience n increases repeat value due to loyal fan base. Had TWMR had any big stars it wud have done more than 200 crs but it stopped at 150+ crs which was remarkable !!!!!! Someone plz put this in Srk fans (javed, sss & I am dhakkan) head !!!!!!!!!
@Javed Don’t worry shahrukh has either rohit shetty or deepika. so he juggles between both rohit and deepika’s hands and that’s why he still exists. otherwise after disasters like ra.one, don 2 and my name is khan he would have been playing supporting roles like ritesh deshmukh till now. if dilwale becomes even a hit than the credit will go to rohit shetty for saving his career again like how he did in 2013.
