Kites First Detailed Review

By Jack Rico (New York Critic)

The Bollywood film ‘Kites,’ directed by Anurag Basu, was a film unlike any I’ve seen before. It was spoken in three languages, had a diverse cast and it wasn’t from Hollywood. It was a completely original experience. It blithely leaps from romance, to musical, to action adventure, to western, referencing any number of Hollywood genres along with one of the more beautiful musical scores in recent memory. The romance, in particular, was as intense as Nicholas Sparks‘ ‘The Notebook,’ and the chemistry between the leads was off the charts. I have to say I was surprisingly entertained and am a better critic for having seen this film.

The plotline begins in the blistering heat of the Mexican desert, where a man has been left for dead. This is “J,” (Hrithik Roshan, the biggest movie star in India), a once- carefree Vegas huckster, now a wanted man, fighting for his life. As he makes his way back home, “J” relives the past, and we learn that the one thing keeping him alive is his burning desire to reunite with Linda (Bárbara Mori, best known in America for the 2005 hit “La Mujer De Mi Hermano”), the love of his life. When “J” first meets her he is working odd jobs, the oddest of which is to marry “illegals” for money. Linda, fresh from Mexico, has barely enough cash to pay for the phony marriage but, like “J,” she has dreams of striking it rich in America. They wed and, that very night, she departs, green card in hand. Though he barely knows her, and they don’t even speak each other’s language, “J” will never forget her. The next time he sees Linda, she is engaged to Tony (Nick Brown), the son of a fabulously wealthy casino owner. As fate would have it, “J” is dating Tony’s sister. Both of them are prepared to marry for money so they can finally make their dreams come true. There are just two problems: they are still legally married and they have fallen madly in love. Choosing one another over wealth, they flee, with a vengeful Tony in hot pursuit… This romance is described in the film as a love that “knows no language,” an apt description of KITES itself, which has more international appeal than the more traditional Bollywood fare.

Bollywood films are a rare breed of cinematic products here in the States and there are legitimate reasons why films from India aren’t successful with American audiences: they are always over 2 hours (we complain when it’s 1hr 45m), they’re like musicals that involve too much dancing (we left the musicals back in the 50’s and ‘NINE’ was a flop) and for the most part, they’re not spoken in English. The closest movie we’ve had to a successful Bollywood production has been Danny Boyle’s Academy Award effort ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and that wasn’t really ours, it was a collaboration we did with England.

Nevertheless, Kites has the potential to change the way we look at Bollywood films. Due to its Latin flavor, it has the ability to reach the largest movie going audience in America, the US Hispanic. Enter director Brett Ratner. Known for taking Asian action star Jackie Chan and crossing him over into American superstardom with his spectacularly successful “Rush Hour” series, Ratner carries a unique synergy – he’s a Hispanic of Cuban descent who understands the power of the Hispanic consumer and what it would take to attract them to the theaters. In a brilliant strategy move by Roshan Productions, Ratner was asked to rework an English language version, designed to extend the reach of the original to the largest possible audience, including the younger demographic for whom 2+ hours is a challenge. This led to “Kites: The Remix, A Brett Ratner Presentation”. Its title suggests, a true “remix,” in that it is the same film, played to a different rhythm, running a swift 90 minutes as opposed to the 130–minute original.

The remix caters to a mass audience but it begrudgingly also contains some elements from the original cut that hurt it. For my particular tastes, the acting by the secondary cast is not as strong as the leads. There are some over the top acting moments that are quite risible. We could have done without some of the excess torso bearing poses by Hrithik, but I imagine the ladies need a dose of carnal ecstasy once in a while. Despite these small imperfections, the film is very entertaining, even for audiences that don’t regularly consume Indian films.

The bulk of the entertainment comes from the extravagant, larger than life action sequences that involve 18 wheeler trucks, chases, explosions, bullet fights, crashes and jumps that stun the senses.

Actor Hrithik Roshan is extremely charismatic and possesses the handsomeness of a major movie star. His talents don’t just end there; in the only dancing sequence of the movie, he gyrated, twirled and whirled like a snake in Vegas. He needs to come to Hollywood and do movies here ASAP. Bárbara Mori, the Uruguayan actress, raised in Mexico, fit perfectly well with Roshan and her new environment. Even though her English accent is rough, it is endearing. She has a magnetic connection that has made her one of the top actresses in Spanish television in the US. We look forward to her evolution in cinema.

Despite the positives of the protagonists, to craft an affecting love story the stars need to be well-developed, evidence a degree of sexual chemistry, and their relationship needs to be allowed to unfold on screen. By falling somewhere in between – more serious than the average comedy and lighter than the typical drama – Kites feels just about right. This love story isn’t going to appeal to those who don’t appreciate romance. It is sweet and sentimental and embraces the fantasy of love all the way through its operatic finale.

Kites recalls such master movie mixologists as Sergio Leone, Quentin Tarantino, and Baz Luhrmann. Producer Rakesh Roshan and director Anurag Basu, have made Kites into an intoxicating cinematic cocktail with a flavor—and a kick—all its own.

Rating: ★★★½☆

  • HI MEGHA STOPPED IT FOR GOD S SAKE MY NAME IS KHAN IS A GOOD MOVIE AND BETTER THAN ALL THESE CRAP LIKE 3I AND SO FORTH
YOU SHOULD FIRST KNOW THE MEANING OF AUTIST AND ASPERGER BEFORE JUDGING THE MOVIE ALL THE CORNERES OF THE WORLD ARE TAZLKING ABOUT BEING THEADDED VALUE TO INDIAN CINEMA AND YOU STILL REJECT IT
ONE OF THE BEST SCENES IS THE CHURCH SCENE IN WHICH SRK DEPICTS THEROLE OF THE AUTIST IN SO MUCH THAT HEHAS BEATEN DUSTIN HOFFMAN AND TOM HANKS ALTOGETHERIFPRGET THAT HES SHAHRUKH OH MY GOD WHAT AN ACTING SO REAL
EGYPTIAN HAS RETURNED TO WATCH INDIAN MOVIES THANKS TO THIS MOVIE AFTER A DESECTION OF ZO YEARS EXCEPT KHABIE KHUSHI IN 2002

  • I CAN ASURE YOU THAT I REMEMBER THE MOVIE BY HEART SCEENE BY SCENE FRAME BY FRAME MEGHA AND THATY BECAUSE IT S THE BEST OF THE BEST IT S FULL OF MESSAGES

  • Yousif: Me too, surprised that Mega and some indian ppl didn’t like MNIK!!! if that’s their taste, would rather see some meaningless movies, shallow movies, or some serious like A Wednesday but which makes ?????????? question mark in yr head and would surprise you asking yourself: why this movie was a hit movie? A Wednesday was a bit slow.. the actress who played as an announcer in the movie was talking so horrible, her voice and the way she talked!!!!!!! she was good only in Kalyug but bad in A Wednesday! and they never noticed any of that in the movie!! they never questioned themselves: why those criminals, terrorists who were after Naseeruddin Shah, made his life measrable.. why did they bother him and what was the reason?!! Why? Really I still don’t hv the answer for this question.. what was their aim, purpose behind it ( was Naseerudiin a politician, a detective or a wealthy man?!! No he wasn’t?!) and then Naseeruddine Shah wanted to revenge and kill them (himself) to free them from the jail himself!! what made this movie a successful movie?! the audience didn’t use his brain at all liking this movie! never questioned themselves that why those terrorists were after this humble simple poor man who doesn’t hv any power, influense or involved even in anything concerns them.. if criminals would harm someone so there must be a reason.. we didn’t know the reason!!!!

And a movie like MNIK which was an excellent movie, for 2 big actors, for a brilliant producer who’s Karan Johar, which was also entertaining.. was almost rejected!!

  • Yousif: hahaha.. they loved (Wanted) for Salman Khan.. can u imagine that? They loved the poor direction movie JTYJN.. hahaha.. that’s also a funny thing!! they loved Golmaal, Golmaal Returns, Welcome.. some horrible terrible movies.

Mega: u don’t attack us.. but attack your people in India, for loving these kachra movies and make them some successful at the box office!!!!!!!!

  • @fathya
i watched a wednesday and its asuperb movie outstanding by nasserddine shah
please watch pay i t forward and reply me as soon as possible

  • me too i didnt like wanted no

fathyia my name was not rejected but it was highly rifted plaguerized because it was broadcasted on the facebook thats y if otherwise people would have queued more for it

  • i agree withu megha in that if hrithik is killed so who did he narrate the story i totally agree with u

  • that mnik was universally disliked is a fact in history sheet .. nobody can dispute that.. only very hard core fans have admitted to the public that they ENJOYED the movie .. there is nothing in the film to enjoy.. which is why it has no repeat value and the sales of the dvd have been poor..

why do u always bring a wednesday /3 idiots to measure good from the bad .. these outstanding movies have no parallel while the ones you have been harping about have no parallel in below mediocrity.. if mnik has done a business of 73 crores isnt that a flop??? for the money it was supposed to make and didnt..??? if the masses of india rejected the movie its but obvious that some asses outside this beautiful country accepted it..!!!.no problems with that.. we make films for that nri audience who will buy tickets in dollars and make our country prosperous .. we are extremely grateful to the foreign audience who spend money for our sake . may we churn out more of wanted veer and de dana dan and paa and especially paa who our weepy foreign audience will love to see in a sequel…!!!
coming back to kites .. i think the verdict os out and as predicted by me before its release it has flopped … can we hav comment on the fate of the movie rather than discussing olf flops like mnik and veer…!!!!

  • Yousif: u saw A wednesday.. can u answer my question, my queries about this movie ( the question which I mentioned in my previous comments?)

Mega: Indicine team already explained to everyone ( under Ask Us) about the rating for movies, and any movie used to make above 70 crores was considered as blockbuster in India!! Dhoom2 did around 73crores ( I remember I read this on his blog) now I think everything has changed after the success of the Ghajini, which we can take it as a big big big big big example that how the indian audience accept some silly re-make of hollywood movies with some unreasonable scenes!!! and they just love it ( hit Aamir with a thick rod and he still walks and alive in the last scene of the movie..haha and with a heavy heavy one on his head and he didn’t die!!! his girl died but he didn’t!! wow.. a superman for sure!!!) so they accept it, they love it ( I don’t need to repeat also those silly comedy movies which were “accepted” by Indian audience and some poor direction!!!

So if the majority “accepted” some stupid movie just because was Aamir Khan’s movie, so it doesn’t mean that the movie was so good.. it’s (their taste!!) and another big example (Wanted) which was so funny in the action scenes.. Megha: don’t try to convince me.. I know which type the audeince love movies in India!!

  • anyone who wishes to accept mnik paa dedanaan as entertainers may choose to do so…if films are sold at exorbitant prices their profitability and shelf life is poor ,mnik sufferd from all accounts and dearie the indian audience still is the chunk of audience all iverseas market is nothing but a small icecube in frint of it no overseas market can ensure the success of any film the fate of the film is decided in india by indians

  • and yes dear i saw pay it forward and i cried buckets at the end.. wonderful wonderful movie.. ouclassed all movies by light years for sure ..mnik is nothing in front of this film

  • NO MEGHA IF YOU ARE A MUSLIM YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHY THE MUSLIMS LOVED THIS MOVIE BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY MOVIE WHICH DEFENDS ISLAM BRAVELY THE ONLY ONE AND MY NAME IS A MOVIE OF SUCH TYPE I LIKE AND SHOWS THE TRUE SPIRIT OF ISLAM AND NOT A TERRORIST RELIOGIN AS THE AMERICAN ALWAYS SHOW IN THEIR PROPAGANDA FILMS ABOVE ALL THIS MOVIE TALKS ABOUT MANY VALUES AND IT SUCCEEDS IN SHOWING THEM SO I DONT AGREE WITH YOU ITS SUPER OUTCLASSED

  • Themes

In an August 2009 interview, Shahrukh Khan stated that My Name Is Khan is “not about terrorism, or 9/11. It’s about a relationship between two people, between an individual and the State, and between an individual and the country. In short, there the three important components: love story, Islam and a mild form of autism.”[13]

“I think it’s an exceptionally relevant time, as the unity of our nation is of paramount importance, and I am very happy to witness such a movement in front of my eyes. We are all coming together to fight for a common cause – called humanity. Everyone knows that terrorism has no religion and it will never have a religion. As a filmmaker, I believe that I have a social responsibility and I promise to fulfill that.”[14]
    – Karan Johar’s response to the increased unification between Hindus and Muslims in India, especially after 26/11. As said to Madhureeta Mukherjee.

In an earlier July 2009 interview, Khan also noted that the film focuses on themes concerning “the relationship between the Western world and Islam and how that has changed over the past few years.” He describes the film as about “the journey of one family and how it changes because of 9/11” and suggests “we touch upon that in a very unbiased and educated way.”[15] In another early interview, he also stated that, “it’s not about a disabled man’s fight against disability. It’s a disabled man’s fight against the disability that exists in the world — terrorism, hatred, fighting … My Name is Khan is also about Islam and the way the world looks at Islam but we are not taking any sides. We are only trying to say that there are only good people and bad people. There are no good Hindus, bad Hindus, good Christians, bad Christians. Either you are a good person or a bad person. Religion is not the criterion, humanity is.”[16]

  • High profile screenings

My Name Is Khan was screened as part of 60th Berlin International Film Festival’s Official Selection in February 2010, out of competition.[10] The website eBay auctioned the tickets for the film’s screening at the Berlin Film Festival for a record price of EUR 1,000 (INR 60,000) each. All the tickets were sold out in five seconds.[57]
    [edit] India

My Name Is Khan received generally positive review by top critics in India. It received 9/10 at ReviewGang[58]. The website AllBollywood.com has a consensus rating of 91%, which is graded as A+. Yahoo! Movies has a user consensus grade of A+ as well.[59]

Subhash K. Jha (film critic and author of The Essential Guide to Bollywood) gave My Name Is Khan a rave review arguing that Rizwan Khan “repairs almost anything, including irreparably damaged relationships. But this film about damaged lives needs no repairing. My Name Is Khan is a flawless work, as perfect in content, tone and treatment as any film can get […] My Name Is Khan is no ordinary film. Long after the wary-of-physical-touch Rizwan has finally shaken hands with President Obama, long after the heat and dust of racial and communal hatred has settled down the core of humanism that the film secretes stays with you. Yes, we finally know what they mean by a feelgood film.” [60] Nikhat Kazmi of the The Times of India also gave it five stars, describing My Name Is Khan as, “indubitably one of the most meaningful and moving films to be rolled out from the Bollywood mills in recent times.”[61] Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave My Name Is Khan four and a half out of five stars and argues, “When a film stars two of the finest talents of the country, you expect nothing but the best. SRK, well, how does one describe his performance? To state that this is his best work so far would be cutting short the praise he truly deserves […] Kajol is pure dynamite and casting her for this character was the most appropriate decision. No other actress could’ve matched SRK in histrionics the way Kajol has. In fact, SRK and Kajol complement each other wonderfully well and this film only proves it yet again. It’s a powerhouse performance from this supremely talented actress.” [62] Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN gave My Name Is Khan three and a half out of five stars, arguing that “the film shamelessly tugs at your heartstrings and on more than one occasion wallops you to weep. Aided by solid camerawork, tight editing and a layered story, Johar crafts an engaging, stirring saga that is earnest and noble. With this message movie in the mainstream format, the director takes a step in the right direction.”[63] Noyon Jyoti Parasara of AOL India too rated the film 3.5 out of possible 5 stars and stated, “‘MNIK’ is not the strongest screenplay to have been made into a film. But the message and the performances make it a movie you should really not miss” [64] NkS Reviews It rated My Name Is Khan 3.5 out of 5 stars and said, “My Name Is Khan is among the best journeys in Bollywood. All of its angles like love, Islam, humanity, relationships & drama are done likeably. It is unbiased and outspoken with a steadfast message.” [65] Omar Qureshi of Zoom gave five stars and the comment “zoombastic”.
    [edit] USA

The film received mixed to positive reviews from U.S. critics and media outlets. As of 21 February 2010, the film has a score of 50 out of a scale of 100 on the review aggregate website Metacritic, based on seven reviews. According to user ratings, the film has 87% positive response.[66] The IMDb website has given the film a user rating of 70%.[67] Rotten Tomatoes lists an approval rating of 83%, with 5 positive and 1 negative review.[68]

Rachel Saltz of The New York Times states, “Khan is one of a handful of Hindi films (New York, Kurbaan) about Indians living in a paranoid, post-9/11 America, and there’s something fascinating about looking at this country through a Bollywood lens, even when the story is a kind of fairy tale. (Most interesting here is the link made between black Americans and Indians, especially Muslims.) Skillfully directed by Karan Johar and with an evocative score by Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, Khan jerks tears with ease, while teaching lessons about Islam and tolerance.” [69] According to Kirk Honeycutt of the Hollywood Reporter, My Name Is Khan is, “a film that delves compellingly into Americans’ anti-Muslim hysteria” as it tackles “a subject American movies have mostly avoided — that of racial profiling and the plight of Muslim-Americans. It also allows Shah Rukh Khan to display his talent to an even wider audience. It’s well worth the 162-minute journey.”[70] Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times argues that My Name Is Khan is “a potent, energetic heart-tugger and Khan and Kajol, major Bollywood stars, are highly appealing and equal to the demand of their emotion-charged roles.”[71] Jay Wesissberg of Variety describes My Name Is Khan as a “riotously overstuffed and enormously enjoyable drama” with “confident camerawork [which] is matched by exceptional production design” He also states that Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol are a “delight together and her natural warmth makes the relationship even more believable.” [3]

  • Yousif: why are you wasting your time trying to convince Megha about a movie which is good and no one can say anything bad about it!! even if MNIK failed at the box office in India still the indian audience could never say that MNIK was a bad movie!

MNIK is still showing in our cinemas, how many months since the release date now?! If it was a bad movie it’d never worked for more than a week or 2 weeks at maximum, so far, I didn’t hear any negative comments from ppl in our country.. everyone liked the movie and enjoyed watching it.

  • to fathya
nasserdine shah plays the role of a Common Man/The Anonymous Caller at the end
he reveals that he is just a “stupid common man”, not belonging to any terrorist outfit, and his plan was not to free the terrorists but to kill them, avenging all the terrorist attacks they had helped carry out in Mumbai and other major cities of India, specifically for the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, thus “cleansing the roach-infested house”. Rathod tries to reason with him but then the caller threatens to blow up the remaining bombs across the city unless Arif and Jai kill Ibrahim Khan

  • no fathya i m not wasting my time but iam trying my best to convince megha that she is totally wrong about my name is khan that s all and concerning the² revenues it snot the revenues which make amovie goood or not but t²he content acting and messsage if so avatar would have eclipsed hurt locker in the oscars and take it from me lesson
immanuel kant says once art for art if art seeks materialism it wiil succumb that’s my motto in art

  • Yousif: that’s the question! a common man would involve himself in such a thing.. why?! that was my query which didn’t convince me in the movie.. I know that N. Shah was a common man.. and no common man would ever do such a thing!!
    It happens in movies only!

About MNIK, I already, in the past, gave some examples about many good movies which didn’t work at the box office and they deserved the attention and were some excellent movies but some crapy kachra won at the box office.. it always happens, not only at the box office, even while selecting any best movie of the year, in oscars for example.. I read last year that Mat Demon said these awards r all fabricated and he said: when Shaksbeer in Love won the academy award it didn’t deserve that honour but the movie Saving Private Ryan which was released in the same year, and he said: when a movie wins at the box office so there’re many reasons for it, the promotions, ads in a huge way, the stardom power, etc.. but the accolade is not a prove that such a movie was the best in that year!

And that’s what I always tried to convince ppl on this website.

It’s exactly like any item you buy from a grocery or electronic shops.. u read or hear about a specific item so u would go for it, and while trying sometimes u find it’s not worth it!, but when u try some other items which u didn’t hear about, u find them good and better ( a big example is the movie Zubeida.. which was so good movie, in the story, direction, performance, and didn’t do well at the box office specially that it was based on a true story)
If u didn’t see it, so I’d recommend it for you.

  • fathiya ,
this common man has lost some of his kins a son wife lover friend you name it in the blasts of mumbai that s why so he choooses the plan the plot he intrigued to taste the revenge himself

  • by the way hav u seen pay it forward go ahead watch it my friend its worth watching in fact this film deserve more than any film the oscars oh the little child trvor acting kevin spacy s also the mother the direction the story dialoues everything the denoument
concerning the merit of the oscar i admit that not all the oscar awardees are meritful because some or most films are forgotten

  • “I read last year that Mat Demon said these awards r all fabricated and he said: when Shaksbeer in Love won the academy award it didn’t deserve that honour but the movie Saving Private Ryan which was released in the same year, and he said: when a movie wins at the box office so there’re many reasons for it, the promotions, ads in a huge way, the stardom power, etc.. but the accolade is not a prove that such a movie was the best in that year!”
    me too read it

  • the common man in the film has been shown to lose patience dear fathiya as he says we are resilient by force not by choice .. the movie shows a hy pothetical situation wherin the common man is now so scared to venture out of the house that decides to finsih it off for his familys safety so that he doesnt have to worry about the safety of his kith and kin when they venture out

coming back to mnik ..you all have missed the point.. if the film propagates that all muslims are not evil then are u happy with that??? it does show that some are..!!!!
kajols screeming vs helen hunts acceptance of his sons death at the end are two contrasting scenes ..the film failed in india because it was a bad film .. and indian audience is more than rest of the world put together.. the nri audience is starved for indian cinema so laps up all types of curries.. but clearly this movie lacked the entertainment required… i donno what message u all are talking about… if you want o read the true stuff. please read the review at www. passionforcinema.com for a true reality check

  • Yousif: I saw Pay it forward but can’t remember the story, some movies never stick in my mind and I forget about them after a while, I remember the American beauty was the same! as I said.. we all hv different tastes for movies.. now u all would say that Pay it Forward was probably one of the best hollywood movies, but with me.. no.. because if this movie touched me in a way or another, loved it, so I’d never forget about and will stick in my mind for ever, another example for some movies which aren’t some box office hits, drama, which I loved and found them best hollywood drama e.g. Sally Field’s movies.. I love Sally Field and loved 3 of her movies: Eye for an Eye, Not without my Daughter, & last years’s movie called: 2 weeks.. I saw 2 weeks 3 times, a touching story and funny in the same time.. if u love stories then this is the one for you yousif.. see all the 3, very good movies.

Megha: no point in discussing with u about MNIK.. I don’t care about reviews and what other audiences would say or think about MNIK.. if u say that the movie wasn’t entertaining but for me it was.. if it wasn’t then why would I go and see it twice at cinema! do u think to see Shahrukh’s face only!! No.. I’m a big fan but if I didn’t like any of his movies I don’t go for it for second time.. I didn’t like OSO and found it boring, so I saw it one time only, Paheli, Billu.. all I saw just one time but saw them again on a dvd.

We all disagree about movies, food, clothes, games, even visiting countries, everyone has diferent opinion and a big example is (food) you or anyone may like something and find it tastly delicious and others probably would spet on it or can’t even see it! that’s how we’re in fact.. can we say that you’re wrong or u don’t hv a good taste for food if a specifc food was delicious in yr mouth but not in my mouth! no for sure, I can’t say also that I’ve a better taste because I didn’t like that food.. so neither you’re wrong nor we’re.. we just have different tastes for everything.

But yeah.. if a movie like Wanted, Ghajini would break all the records and we found lots of silly things in the movie.. for sure there will be a discussion.. you didn’t like MNIK and it didn’t win at the box office of India, so u shouldn’t be surprised if some ppl outside your country loved the movie and still showing in their cinemas!!

  • if mnik running in your theATRES IS COS OF STAR POWER AND NOT THAT FILM IS GOOD.. pay it forward is a brilliant film and the performances are topnotch especially by neil osmond… kites has turned out to be phati patang ..im sure this onre will not be running so well in your country?? fathiyA ?? OR WONDERS OF ALL IS THIS TOO RUNNING SUCCESSFULLY IN YOUR COUNTRY??? my god ..jeeper creepers..!!!!

  • Wrong dear Megha: Billu, Paheli didn’t sustain in our cinemas, can’t remember how many weeks worked but less than 3 weeks ( if it was the star power so it’d hv worked for 3 months at minimum!) and if u would say this then why not 3 Idiots? 3 Idiots worked for almost 3 months.. that’s if I told u the same! .. that it worked because of Aamir Khan.. so I’d be wrong for sure.. and you would reply n say: No Fathiya.. because the movie is so good!! example: everyone was waiting for Kites.. for Hrithik’s movie.. me too, but were dissapointed as we expected to be a great movie!! Do u think we’d go and watch it again because of Hrithik?!! No, any star would attract the audience to go for his movie but if the movie is not good so they’d stop and would spread their opinion everywhere about the movie and the movie wl bomb at the box office.. that’s how we’re in fact.. it’s not the starpower.. it’s the star power at the beggining only, before everyone watch it.

Eveyone just admired MNIK, the content, Shahrukh’s acting, the story, there4 everyone want to see it again and again.. I saw it twice but I may decide to see it this month again, my family want to see it again too..so.. do u keep on asking yourself: what the hell!! why these ppl would go for this movie to watch it again if they didn’t like it?!!!

And fyi.. we’re not like some ppl in yr country.. who would go for a movie or stop watching it to make a specific movie a flop or a hit!!! haha.. that’s sooo stupid which some ppl do!! they think that paying few more tickets, more or less, would affect the box office collection!!

Why don’t u believe that everyone loved MNIK?!!! Is it just because the indian audience didn’t like it so it would prove that it’s not a good movie!!! grow up Megha!!

I didn’t like hollywood movie The Dark Night.. and found it the most pathetic boring movie which I saw in my life!! but can I say to everyone: it was a bad movie?! people loved it so it worked, they enjoyed watching it but I fell asleep!!

  • hi fathya pay it forward isnt like american beauty at alll
it is about changing the life of other people through the idea of deduction division derived from biology and applying it on human go watch it again and pay attention while you watch fathya because this story has the same standards of srk movies namely the supreme art
may be you didnt pay attention to it when you watched it or may be you were too young to understand such complicated movies but i recommmend u to watch the oscar functionists has understimated it which show that they are very bias and dont appreciate art

  • to megha
my name is khan is good because
first it defends islam and it show the truth of it because there are hundreds of films which show the muslim as they are terrorist they know nothing but bloodshed thees movies are
    true lies
    from paris with love
    body of lies
    laurence of arabia
    the nights and many more

they deform the image of true islam which make people fear islam islamphobia due to th zionist propganda while its the otherwise so shahrukh khan and karan johar have broken their lies<on muslims and some forigners become to think difrently of islam
also the whole arab world 'media conference 700000 HOUR 24 ROUND 7 failed to make their voice reach to the west that islam is innocent of what they tend to describe it with (terror) so here comes another voice of srk as amuslim to show them that people are good or bad
religion has nothing to do with it thus my name has succceed in waht we the arab fail and that s a triumph
also it s full of messages peacemaking love tolerance altruism patience stiking to identity in hard times hi megah are blind or waht wake up darling
