The holiday for Republic Day on Thursday was the biggest ever day for the Hindi Film Industry, as the combined collections of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees is Rs 44.97 crore – which is exactly the same as the reported collections of SRK’s Happy New Year on the Diwali holiday in 2014.
Both Raees and Kaabil showed big growth at the box office, with the business of both films peaking on Republic Day. Raees collected Rs 26.30 crore, showing growth of 29% over Wednesday. The jump was good because, unlike Kaabil, Raees was recording very high occupancy on the first day.
Kaabil had started slow on Wednesday and there was ample scope for growth across all theatres in the country. Due to positive reports, the escalation in business was better than expected with the film collecting Rs 18.67 crore (79% growth) on Day 2.
The key will be the level at which both films hold on Friday. Both have shown drops compared to the occupancy level on Wednesday. Raees has shown bigger drops, which was again expected because of the excellent opening. Kaabil has managed to hold, with some centres recording better occupancy compared to shows on Wednesday morning.

Boxoffice india blindly favouring raees i mean yesterday they mentioned in their estimates that kaabil has collected 16 crs and also mentioned that its tamil and telugu version has witnessed jump with 50-60 lacs collection on day 2..but today they make the total collections 50-60 lacs and when i visited that page again they have removed that note from the end so we can clearly see the conspiracy against kaabil…#shame

@indicine, Why you don’t say collection from the trades? because they don’t manipulate and producers saying lie because they want to get positivity. Kabil Thursday collection is 15.5 crore by trade and you said 18.67, which is wrong and it can affect your site credibility.

Since kaabil and raees release we are closely following bo numbers but why there is variation in kaabil bo numbers compared to raees? i meant producer fig and trade fig. Also please give us clear view on which figure is more accurate .By the way, here in Nepal both have equal shows in single screens and both movies are being loved though to me i feel raees has little bit edge because of its genre so from Nepal raees will emerge as winner. Lastly, i wanna know how much a bollywood movie collects from Nepal i am sure its not much but figure will b higher than nepalese movies here. Please reply indicine team thank you
