The holiday for Republic Day on Thursday was the biggest ever day for the Hindi Film Industry, as the combined collections of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees is Rs 44.97 crore – which is exactly the same as the reported collections of SRK’s Happy New Year on the Diwali holiday in 2014.
Both Raees and Kaabil showed big growth at the box office, with the business of both films peaking on Republic Day. Raees collected Rs 26.30 crore, showing growth of 29% over Wednesday. The jump was good because, unlike Kaabil, Raees was recording very high occupancy on the first day.
Kaabil had started slow on Wednesday and there was ample scope for growth across all theatres in the country. Due to positive reports, the escalation in business was better than expected with the film collecting Rs 18.67 crore (79% growth) on Day 2.
The key will be the level at which both films hold on Friday. Both have shown drops compared to the occupancy level on Wednesday. Raees has shown bigger drops, which was again expected because of the excellent opening. Kaabil has managed to hold, with some centres recording better occupancy compared to shows on Wednesday morning.
Yay!! 26.30 CR = excellent.
Now Today it should put 15cr+.
100cr extended weekend is still on!!!
Kabil is long term player…nothing against SRK,but he is cutting his leg with his own hand.
Mark my words, both the movies are going to emerge as winners.

Its Life time would have been Around 140-150cr

This clash reminds me of diilwale vs bm clash to some extent both dilwale and raees are masala movies though the later is a bit intense though kaabil is almost 4 times lesser expensive than bm it’s a huge plus point for team kaabil so at the end of the run of two films I think collection wise
Raees > Kaabil
And profit wise
Kaabil > Raees
Raees will most probably collect more than Kaabil in its lifetime because its wom is better than dilwale
So Kaabil and Raees given the industry the biggest Single day close to 43cr as per trade figures we take. This is great.
Both film collection should be 250cr minimum making the highest non-holiday collection of all time. As expected both will be clean hits.
Today combine collection should be 25cr.

On Wednesday I have seen Kaabil it was wonderful film . Chemistry between Hrithik & Yami is superb . Climax toh kafi badiya tha . Hrithik performance was extraordinary . Film will definetly collect 100 crore . Will watch Raees tomorrow . Both films word of mouth is also excellent .
So Raees got a bigger drop than Kaabil today. Shahrukh Khan is at risk now as his movie is a big budget movie so recovering cost will be more difficult for Shahruk than Hrithik for Kaabil.
Raees has shown fall from today and it will continue to do so…from now…kaabil as I had mentioned in one of my earlier posts will definitely pick up and eventually challenge raess going forward…
Raees lifetime : 140 cr (+- 5cr)
Kaabil lifetime : 125 cr (+- 5 cr)
Eventually with more screens n bigger budget its raees who will loose. It has had its golden run in 2 days.
I saw both movies.
Raees is an average action entertainer with no laughs at all.
Kabil is also an average revenge drama which is slightly unconvincing with no goose bumps
I hope the combined collection of both the films would be 275 to 300 crs in the end.I hope.

Eventhough both movies will emerge clean hit Raees will be more profitable because apart from domestic business, in overseas Raees is doing excecellent business while Kaabil is very poor. While many website says Raaes budget is 85+ Cr only because SRK doesn’t charge his fee as it was produce by red chillies, I dont understand why Indicine is saying 120+ Cr?? Moreover with the music rights, sattelite right etc are sold at a whopping amount Raees will definitely be a more profitable venture.
As a HR fan, I watched Kaabil first and absolutely loved it..
Then saw Raees as well, got thoroughly entertained by Shah n Nawaz..
Happy times for hindi cinema..

Everybody comes 2 Watch Big movies on national holiday..So I would not call kaabil a successful film until it collects more than 110 by looking at 5 Day weekend & positive WOM.!
