When 3 Idiots swept box office records and Aamir Khan was hailed as the biggest superstar in the country, who would have thought a certain Salman Khan – back then, not going through the best phase of his career – would challenge Aamir for the No 1 spot?
Apart from the lifetime collections of 3 Idiots (200 crores), almost all other records held by Aamir have been broken. Not once, but twice. First by Dabangg and now by Bodyguard (collections are already around 70 crores in 4 days and Sunday should break the 80 crore first week record in less than 5 days!). In between, there was a non-festive release ‘Ready’ which collected 125 crores in India!
While Aamir has one release every year, Salman’s Bodyguard released just 3 months after Ready.
The other challenger for the top spot, Shahrukh Khan, has been missing from action lately. Ra One his next release will be his biggest test. To put Salman’s dominance over SRK into perspective, the first week of Dabangg (80 crores) was more than the entire lifetime collections of Shahrukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan (72 crores lifetime), which also released last year. And Bodyguard is expected to go past MNIK in 5 days flat!
Having said that, Shahrukh Khan has been the most consistent superstar in the last decade and his success ratio is unmatched. His last failure was Paheli and since then almost every film starring SRK in a lead role have been box office HIT’s or better.
If Ra One does anything in excess of 100 crores (and it has to because of high costs), SRK’s position in the industry and more importantly his 100% success ratio in the last 6 years, will remain intact.
Ajay Devgan deserves a mention too – Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Golmaal 3, Rajneeti and the very recent Singham – have all been super-successfull. He’s right there at the top too.
For now though, it’s Salman Khan, enjoying one of the best phases of his career. He was always a crowd-puller, but never recognized as the topmost star. Now he is!

Hi i am a big fan of Shahrukh khan. I watched bodyguard it’s a nice romantic film with little minus in screenplay but it deserve to be Blockbuster i like salman perfomance in bodyguard so wish him good luck for 2nd week :)
First half year is for salman khan and we have to wait for ra.one and don 2.

More Achievments than Salman..LMAO….
Lets see what he has achieved.
1) Earned a lot of money and named on of the most powerful indian. (Slaman would have beaten him in but Salman likes to share running Being Human almost by his own. Any idea how many prayers he earns everyday. That’s an achievement.)
2) Filmfare awards . Do you really want me go there? Salman gets his awards from his fans Some fans made his statue and prayed in front of it last year after watching Dabangg.. That’s an achievement.
3) SRK must do atleast one movie every year either for Dharma productions or Yashraj who no doubt make well scripted and directed movies which should have more credit for the writers and directors. Dharma and Yash make superhit movies even without SRK and with new actors like Band Baja Barat. How many hits has he given for other banners. Look at all the ATBB/BB movies of salman. other then Soraj Berjatiya never repeated the Banner most had new directors and actrsses and had poor script/story and only got ATBB/BB because of salman’s presence (Dabang, Ready, Bodyguard, Wanted). Thats an achievement.
4) Never heard anyone calling SRK with names like a person with golder heart. The whole industry call salman a prson with the golden heart.
5) How many new people have srk ever help in the film industry. Do you want me type a list of people salman helped.
6)SRK got the biggest house in the city. Well salman likes to give houses to other people and is happy in his parents house.
Salman had some mishaps as well like the accident and black buck case but aren’t we talking about a human being here. He made mistakes and learned from them which only made him stronger human being.
SRK gives BB overseas then he should move overseas. Aren’t we talking about INDIAN film industry here and in INDIAN film industry Salman Khan is no1.
