The first day collections of Tezz has shocked the trade. The film has opened to disastrous numbers collecting Rs 3.5 crore all over India, a figure that is lower than the opening of Abhishek Bachchan’s Players.
The big question then – Is Ajay Devgan a bankable star at the box-office? Let’s take a look at some of his films from 2010.
- Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge – Opened poorly, worked because the film was liked.
- Raajneeti – A multistarrer with popular stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
- Once Upon a Time in Mumbai – Hit music, a production house known for marketing films well, Emraan Hashmi who has a huge fan-following of his own.
- Aakrosh – Non-starter at the box-office.
- Golmaal 3 – A successful comedy franchisee, Rohit Shetty as the director.
- Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji – Was a reasonably good success, but again a multi-starrer with Emraan Hashmi.
- Singham – Masala action film directed by Rohit Shetty
- Rascals – Opened poorly, disaster.
- Tezz – Shockingly poor opening numbers.
Apart from films directed by Rohit Shetty and a few multi-starrers, none of Ajay Devgan’s films – where he was the sole crowd puller – has worked at the box-office.
A bankable star is someone who guarantees a good initial, irrespective of the films content. Currently in Bollywood, there are only 6 such ‘superstars’ – Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan belong to the top league, followed by Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor.
Imran Khan and Emraan Hashmi have been consistent, but not quite in the same league as the Top 6.

Bankable star is actors who can at least give good initials, movie’s like TMK, desi boyz, thank you, Khatta Meetha, Blue were at least taken to average status thnx to akshay kumar’s starpower to get a good 1st collection, i wouldn’t call ranbir a superstar, he has still long time left, ajay a great actor but his movies don’t open very well.
I think Salman is no. 1 superstar at the moment and is closely followed by SRK, Hritik and Amir in that order. Others are stars. BTW you missed Shahid Kapoor who is at least as big a star as Imraan Khan, if not bigger.

4-SRK. just because of his popularity .i don’t like him as an actor, he is doing same kind of since 1993

The film became due to lack of emotions, movie may b action but it required some emotions at the time smeera caught in accident, ajay had to reverse forcebly to give the respect of his well wisher and co worker
she and her brother done a lot for him but he were faar away from the battlefield and operating them behind the curtain he had to take the rvenge of sameera’s death instead of crying for
the way he remained away from his responsibility in the movie were disapointing else movie had sustained well even had done like singham
i think producer were in rush to complete the movie. Otherwise they would have considered people’s mindset and putting some emotional and shingham type scene movie could be made high grosser of 2012

Only hrithik can give hit and blockbuster movie according to his need . Remember after making some best commercial movie he make the classiscal movie like guzarish and others. So he is superstar. if he only go for hit then who made the best acting movies . Abhi Sallu ke bas ki toh baat nahin hai Aur ranveer toh abhi chalna suru kar raha hai. WAISE srk BHI KAM NAHIN HAI Acting ke mamle mein.
If there is Hrithik roshan in Prince and Shahrukh khan in Ajab Prem ki Ghajab Kahani then Both movies are have to be ATBB. and recordable.

ajay devgan is a star, so is imran khan n shahid kapoor. is ajay devgan a bankable star? NOT AT ALL. If one’s success comes with only rohit shetty, then he’s not a complete package.
rascals flopped, the blame went to sanjay dutt. tezz became a disaster, the blame went to pyiyadarshan. The same priyadarshan that has directed series of hit films with akshay kumar. Truth be told, ajay needs a break to make a comeback with a hit. He shld also realize that he is lost in his old glories and improve with his script choice n acting. ACTION FILMS he shld not attempt again and no solo lead movies without rohit shetty pls else he’ll be kicked out of bollywood.
for the record, saif ali khan, ajay devgan, ranbir kapoor, shahid kapoor, imran khan, emraan hashmi, irfan khan, are stars. AAMIR, SRK, SALMAN, HRITHIK, new AKSHAY KUMAR are superstars. the likes of john abraham, abhay deol, farhan aktar are side attractions and ranveer singh n arjun kapoor are the next best things.
even when srk’s, akki’s n hrithik’s movies flopped, they ensured good BO openings. fOR EVERY HRITHIK’S MOVIE that flopped, he got best actor nominations for each. that is called superstardom with awesome perfomances. tezz left everyone speechless, it accompanied the movie avengers into the theatres as it’s bestman. got confused then joined the bridal train. it did not even catch the bouquet. ha ha ha. whenever i miss a complete superstar, i watch hrithik. i await the already pronounced ATBB krrish 3. hrithik rockks
