There has always been a debate over the impact that banners like Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions have had on Shah Rukh Khan’s career.
While a lot of people believe it’s Shah Rukh who has single-handedly made YRF and Dharma the banners that they are today, others argue SRK wouldn’t have become a top actor and more importantly an iconic romantic hero without directors like Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar.
In an interview with Filmfare, Shah Rukh was asked if he owes his success to the Chopras and Karan.
Crediting the directors of films like Darr, Baazigar, DDLJ, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and many more, SRK said ”Adi and Karan know me better as an actor. I believe in them and they believe in me and that is 90 percent of the battle won. There’s a comfort zone. I work equally hard as an actor with every one else. I give every role my best shot”
“But yes, as far as commercial success is concerned, I’m a star because of them since they made me a huge star. It’s thanks to Karan, Adi, Yash Chopra, Abbas-Mustan and Rakesh Roshan that I’m called a superstar”

@Indicine – What was the need to quote from a 2002 article? Are you trying to spread negativity about SRK?
SRK is humble enough to give credit to his directors, & mind you he is crediting all the directors that he has worked with & not just Adi, KJo or Yash Chopra.
The simple fact that YRF/Dharma movies have always worked with SRK, they have a 100% track record, but the success track goes miserably down if we exclude SRK movies from YRF/Dharma’s kitty.
The man has made a name for himself, without a Godfather. Struggled & reached the top of the pinnacle on his own & he will continue to rule.
Shahrukh Khan has made Shahrukh Khan, the success he is today. God has made Shahrukh Khan & there would be no other Shahrukh Khan ever.

You dumb freak with an IQ of a child, & rest of the haters, where in the interview does he state that he is ‘nothing’ without YRF/Dharma. He has said that his directors have been influential in his career. Adi & Karan know him so well that he doesn’t even read the script when he signs a film for them. A director is the one who helms a movie, so not just SRK, directors are influential in the career of each & every actor & any actor who denies this can be only termed ‘ignorant’.
Still SRK being the Superstar he is, has been kind enough to credit his directors where it’s due.

Some heros give stardom to the director like Salman who gave stardom to Suraj, kabir khan etc. But some actors destroy stardom of directors eg. Pre dilwale rohit shetti was a top director, post dilwale rohit career is in danger he must be feeling guilty why I have chosen wrong khan.

Yes, you are right idiots. But who said Srk is star because of starpower of Yrf and Dharma.
It is because of the production values of their films, because of marketing of their films, because of blockbuster music of their films. They are the biggest production houses in India hence they hire the best people in every department whether it is music, locations, cinematography or anything.
Which star has the highest number of popular songs in 90’s. Offcourse Srk. But how many without Yrf and Dharma. Probably only those from Devdas.
Tell me a single Srk film in 90’s which has production values even close to KKHH, KKKG or DTPH, here also only Devdas.
Above all this, I have prooved earlier that except the number of hit films whether it is Superhit, Blockbuster or ATBBs Yrf and Dharma’s contribution is more than 50%. In case of hit films also their contribution is more than 25%.
Srk has done 9 films with Yrf and 4 or 5 with Dharma but not a single failure till date. This says it all. Those who want to see it can see clearly but those who don’t want to see(including Indicine), I can’t do anything.
There is a quote in Marathi. “You can wake up the sleeping person, but you can’t wake up the person who is doing acting of sleeping.”
Sarook knows only semi-hit/hit or superhits. He has no idea of blockbusters and ALL TIME Blockbusters!
