Ageepath broke the record for the highest opening day collections when the film releases in theatres on Republic Day. The film went on to collect Rs 121 crore at the India box office, which is the highest collections for a January release.
Jai Ho collected around 87 cr in its first week, which is lower than the first week business of Agneepath. The Hrithik Roshan starrer also held up pretty well in Week 2. So it remains to be seen if Jai Ho can eventually go past the total collections of Agneepath – at this stage, it doesn’t look like it will.

New Agneepath could go well over 150 cr but the blood and gore content prevent children and family audiences for repeat watch.
Did Agneepath underperformed? Agneepath is 2012 movie and Jai ho is 2014 movie. There is 2 years difference and business has changed in a big way. Jai ho is most promoted movie after Ra one. Salman was seen in each and every events, channels, functions everywhere even on twitter copying sharukh khan by doing digital autograph campaign.

And how it was possible jthj released on 2600 screen and SOS released on 2000 screen on same. Is it possible screen has increased to 2000 in that perticular 8 months. Actually it was released in 3000 screen. No agneepath trended better than jai ho.

watched Jai Ho today!!!! indeed an awesome movie!!!! better than Sarkar’s Crap.One, Jab Tak Hai Jhaant etc etc!!! Bhai rocked the show along with Tabu despite bad music and Daisy Shah’s over acting..agreed it had OTT fight scenes which were illogical at places(tanker scene especially), but the climax was different in Hindi compared to Stalin wherein a bullet is removed from Chiranjeevi’s chest inorder to save him!!!
Agneepath in terms of production values and quality was awesome..but it still had lots of violent scenes which weren’t meant for family viewing..wherein Jai Ho despite low prod values was a cleaner movie compared to Agneepath..thus for me both are winners and they both did deserve 150crs!!!!
and whoever says that quality doesnt matter for SK, then what were HAHK, HDDCS, Biwi No 1, ETT, Khamoshi and Jai Ho!!?? even Kick is a heist movie which i have already watched it in Telugu!!!!

Watch the video again. Not exaggerated and distorted reports by the media. Salman didn’t say “even the dogs didn’t watch Guzaarish.” When Salman visited some handicapped children at an event, a reporter asked “would you like to do a move on them (i.e. the handicapped children)?” To which Salman replied “Kiya Tha Do Film: Khamoshi aur Phir Milengi. Kutte Bhi Nahin Gaya Dekhne. Aab Guzaarish Release Howa Hai, Uski Haal Bhi Dekho.” This was blown out of the proportion by the media and people like Ghost and others alike fueled the fire. It’s really bad when someone takes refuge under LIES just to harm someone else’s image.
@DANISH, we also know Hrithik took every help from his father during his early stage but starting at late 2000s, he has become independent. It was like SRK who took every help Yash Chopra (who was like a father figure to him) during the initial stage of his career. By the way, Didn’t Asoka flop badly?
Neither Salman nor SRK was successful in that genre. Only Aamir, Hrithik, Sunny Deol and Ajay Devgn (maybe few more) were successful in that genre.

@sss. It’s bcuz sharukh remuneration had not included in the budget. Earlier it was declared superhit and changed in to hit. Even Salman’s remuneration is not included in Jai ho budget so if screens, expectation, national holiday, free runs has been taken in to consideration then Jai ho is a disaster bcuz almost all distributor in each territory will loose money
