Hrithik Roshan completes 15 glorious years in Bollywood

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has completed 15 glorious years in the film industry. A career that began with Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Kaho Naa.. Pyaar Hai’ way back in 2000 has been filled with ups and downs, but Hrithik continues to be one of the most popular superstars in India.

When Hrithik made his debut 15 years ago, on this very day, expectations were low as Rakesh Roshan’s previous film Koyla starring Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit was a box office disaster. Hrithik’s first film wasn’t even the most awaited debut of the year, as Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek and Raj Kapoor’s granddaughter Kareena were also set to make their debuts in the same year.

But what followed on January 14 will be etched in the memory of not just movie buffs, but an entire generation of teenagers.. Hrithik Roshan took the nation by storm. Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was running to packed houses all over India and Hrithik was hailed as a complete package; someone with charisma, screen presence, great looks, unbelievable dancing skills and to top it all a fantastic actor.

15 Years of Hrithik Roshan

15 Years of Hrithik Roshan

He was on the cover of every magazine, every brand in India wanted him to endorse their product. Roshan was also compared to senior and experienced actors like Shahrukh and Salman Khan.

And the Hrithik phenomena didn’t end there. During the awards season in January 2001, Hrithik’s performance was the highlight of all award shows. Kaho Naa.. Pyaar Hai bagged more than 100 awards and Hrithik was one of the first actors in history to win both the Filmfare Best Debut and Best Actor award in the same year.

Unfortunately for him, the fall was almost as sudden as his rise. Fiza, Mission Kashmir, Yaadein and a few forgettable films flopped at the box office. Most of these films were signed before he turned ‘superstar’ with KNPH. With directors trying to cash-in on his stardom, scripts were rewritten at the last minute to extend his role.

He hit the lowest phase of his career when Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon flopped at the box office. In Hrithik’s own words, the lowest point of his career was when “a magazine which had my face on the cover read ‘Finished’”.

Having seen it all at the age of 29.. Hrithik proved his detractors wrong when his second home-production, Koi Mil Gaya went on to be the biggest blockbuster of 2003. The film also won him the Filmfare Best Actor Popular and Critics.

Today, as Hrithik celebrates 15 years of his career, he has delivered outstanding performances in films like Lakshya, Jodha Akbar, Krrish, Dhoom 2, Guzaarish, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Agneepath and Krrish 3. He has hardly put a foot wrong in the last 10 odd years with two rare failures in Kites, an experimental film and Guzaarish, which is widely considered to be one of his best performances.

  • Hrithik Roshan’s 14 year journey has been a very fantastic . Hrithik is the complete package in Bollywood in terms of : great Greek God looks , A ‘Greek God like’ physique , the Greatest Bollywood male dancer , One of the versatile actors in Bollywood currently (only after Aamir Khan), Hollywood style action sequences , the ‘Sexy/Hot’ factor . Infact , Hrithik Roshan is the Most Good Looking / the Most Handsome and definitely the Hottest Bollywood actor of all time over the 100 Years of Indian Cinema , i mean what physical features Hrithik lack of being known as a ”Greek God” : A strong Jawline , A ‘Greek God like’ Physique , Green eyes , Brown curly hair , height . Hrithik has all the perfect physical features of being known as the Most Good Looking Actor of Indian Cinema . People often rank Salman Khan as the Most Good Looking Actor of Indian Cinema lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ???????????????????????????????????????????? I mean Salman , was definitely a natural good looking man in 90’s until the mid 2000’s post Wanted film release where Salman looked so much weird and too beefy and eventually lost his innocent yet good looking face but he gained muscles and looked old in the film . Salman Khan in Kick , was not even comparable what Hrithik Roshan looked like in Bang Bang last year . Salman in Kick , looked too old for Jacqueline to romance whereas Randeep Hooda was looking handsome in the film instead of Salman Khan . Even the Salman Khan of 90’s , was good looking due to it’s innocent good looking face and smile only while the Hrithik Roshan of 2000 and onwards was good looking due to his perfect International physical features .I am shocked how that 5 ft 7.5 inch and currently an old less handsome looking Salman Khan is considered the Most Good Looking Man of Indian Cinema , Salman though in 90’s due to his innocenct looking face and a smile was handsome but after starting the ”shirtless” scenario from the film Wanted , Salman’s beefy muscles started to overcome his own good looks plus Salman don’t even have great features like either Hrithik Roshan , or Brad Pitt . And then came a point in the film Ek Tha Tiger where Salman was looking a 50 year old man to a 27 year old Katrina in the film . Just because Salman Khan is more popular , Salman Khan gave Hrithik Roshan bodybuilding tips for his film Kaho Na Pyar Hai , or either because of Salman’s craze in north India doesn’t mean that Salman has great features than Hrithik Roshan . Check even the Most Stylish 2014 Hindi Actor poll , Hrithik topped the list , followed by Fawad Khan on 2nd position whereas Salman was 3rd and evn in the 2014’s Hottest Jodi onscreen in Bollywood award went to Hrithik-Kat pair but not to Salman-Jacqueline . Salman looked good in his films like Lucky , Salaam e Ishq , No Entry , Baabul , God Tussi Great Ho , but until the film Wanted Salman’s beefy muscles made him look weird and old in the film . Salman is not a Brad Pitt (Hollywood Actor) or a Tom Cruise (Hollywood Actor) with some great physical features but Salman is more like George Clooney , whose kindness , personality , and even hairstyles makes them handsome or attractive . Anyways wishing Hrithik Roshan a happy 15th journey in Bollywood .

  • Great actor with great physique.
I will never forget his debut…KHNPH is one of my fav movies. I was crazy about ek pal ka jeena song and I used to listen everyday.
Here is my fav movie of HR:
    KHNPH
    Fiza
    Lakshya
    Koi mil gaya
    Krish 2
    ZNMD
    Kites
    Dhoom2

  • @Nipun

Their best review are Prem Aggan and Jaani Dushman. Really funny! MPKDH was actually a misfired attempt. Hrithik was still a newbie and the director looked over-confident after 4 blockbusters. Every actor has that movie which is full of unintentional humor and this was HR’s rare really bad film.

  • Congrats Hritik,……hats off !! Splendid career!!!
No doubts among d TOP GUNS of BOLLYWOOD!
4 me d most complete actor Hindi cinema has had….has all d qualities of an actor…I don’t have to name them cos I ain’t a girl(lol)…but his versatility really stuttered me esp from Lakysha!!

HRITHIK IS GOING TO BE ROCK WHOLE WORLD IN FUTURE BY HIS OUTSTANDING LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE.
LET’S CELEBRATE BEGINS OF SUPERSTARDUM ON 14JAN

  • I never liked KNPH neither that time nor now. Hrithik first movie which I liked was KMG apart from k3g.After than Dhoom 2 and krissh though that was nothing great but good too.Things changed with Agneepath which I liked most specially his performance after than I watched his two classic ZNMD and Lakshya both were brilliant films.
I have seen JA in parts not completely, while never seen kites and gujaarish.K3 was a very good film for 1 time watch specially if you seen it in theatre. But one thing is sure hrithik has worked hard,a brilliant actor with great looks and dancing skills though still not versatile as he need to prove himself in out and out comedy.
A great 15 year journey and wish it will continue next 15 years too.
Congrats Hrithik and his fans for this superstardom and his great career so far.
Last but not least waiting for Mohenjodaro.

  • Hrithik is undoubtedly the most humble star who has inspired all of us through his movies and personal struggles I don’t know why people criticize Krrish 3.I loved the film and I still remember most of the guys in the theatres were wondering how such a movie could be made in India

  • @zain : LOL you comparing 50 yrs old salman with hrithik ??? obviously trend and fashion in 90’s was dffrnt…u cant compare 90’s salman with hrithik’s debut..further to that hrithik used to look lik abhsihek before doing hairdo..get ur facts….have u seen salman in jab pyra kisi se hota hai ?? yuvraj ?? janeman ?? phir milenge ?? babul ? pyar kiya toh darna kya ?? LUCKY ?? salam-e-ishq ?? have u seen his looks….in YUVRAJ he had a very classy look… obviously he has lost interest on looks now..focusing more on BH and in kick he was looking more fit and younger than he was in few prior releases….
PS have you seen one pic of hrithik with srk and salman during akran arjun ?? so dont talk rubbish here.

  • when others do masala movie then people say masala movie will not be hit but when our faburite star srk salman did masala we say it will broke another records , what the point guys??? my point is any genre comedy triller biopic nobel horrer romantic can be superhit with good content

  • srrk fans.read 1st line carefully.koyla was a box office disaster n u srk fans were saying srk has not a single disaster in his account.

  • A comple actor hritik is truly deserving for top spot of bollywood like amitji once ruled.@nipun,i fully agree with u about kites.it is one of the best romantic films i have yet seen.it touched core of my heart.

  • Very well written indicine, outstanding actor, fantastic dancer, hansome hunk, bollywood is indeed blessed to have him here…
very well written article as i was in 9th std when knph released and still remember the craze of hrithik roshan and the movie songs….

  • 15 years of Hrithik Roshan ! What a brilliant achievement . Congrats Hrithik, Rakesh Ji, Amisha, Rajesh Roshan and the entire crew of KNPH who all made KNPH a memorable movie . This movie is unforgettable . It had a superb love story, heart touching performances, Awesome Music and Incredible Dance . Hrithik became a Superstar right from his first movie . For 1 year nobody enjoyed mass hysteria as compared to Hrithik . But there is a golden rule of life – When something goes up it also comes down . Since 2002 his 4 back to back movies were Box Office flops . Critics started calling him One Film Wonder . Later he teamed with his father to give a memorable movie like KMG . It touched the hearts of the people, people fell in love with Rohit . KMG was the turning point in Hrithik’s career . During the shooting of KMG Hrithik decided that he will do only those movies which he will feel like doing . He said that why his movies flopped because all the producers only wanted to cash in on the pretty face and dance steps . Hrithik Yeh Toh Sirf Shuruat Hai Abhi Toh Bahut Kucch Karna Baaki Hai . Continue to inspire us as you are doing for 15 years . I am damn sure Mohenjo Daro will be a landmark movie in your career . Expecting a classic performance and brilliant content . Waiting for Ashutosh and Hrithik to take us back to our roots – Indus Valley Civilization . Hats of to you HR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Legend and will become Epic in Next 15Yrs !!!

This is Nothing In Comparison of What HRITHIK ROSHAN’S Potential is.

Glad to see no hate comments & bhai fans praising HR.

  • Just would like to Thank HR for these glorious 15 years he has given to bollywood lovers. The most complete actor industry has ever produced.
I honestly believe biggest legend of Hindi Cinema is Amitabh Bachchan and will always remain one. His personality, style, following and above all his un-matchable acting abilities even at this age when most people retire he still is working.
But after him, the one person I look up to in bollywood is HR. The man has proved his acting and dancing talent many a times. Has success, fame, 4 Filmfare best actor (Would have been 6 if lakshya and guzaarish had done well commercially).
But as a fan now I want him to do fresh roles and movies which are performance oriented. I firmly beleive if he chooses good films and roles with the amount of hard work he puts in his projects he can get best actor awards every year. Last 3 films he has done haven’t impressed me much. Agneepath and bang bang remakes of flop films both could have been avoided. Also Krrish 3 did earn moolas at box office but again doing same old roles he has done in past does not suits him. He is a very versatile actor and needs to justify that with almost every film. Having said that i am very happy he is doing Mohenjo-Daro. A fresh role from History and am sure will live the role to fullest as he always does with his characters. Hoping that his next 15 years turn out even better than the first 15.
All the best Hrithik, just keep doing the good work your fans are always with you.

  • @hrithik my hero, generally i don’t bash hrithik untill @nipun or someone talk nonesense about bhai…..afterall m not a hrithik hater.

  • for me HR’s best films
    1. Kaho Na Pyar Hai
    2. Lakshya
    3. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
    4. Jodha Akbar
    5. K3G

    his best performances
    1. Kaho Na Pyar Hai
    2. Jodha Akbar
    3. Koi Mil Gaya
    4. Lakshya
    5. Guzaarish.

  • I wish Hrithik made more movies – love watching all his movies – he is poetry in action – he is only 41 and has accomplished so much – lets wish for many more years in his company…..

  • @indicine…so u deliberately forgot Akshay kumar who’s celebratring SILVER JUBILEE in 2015!! ???
why always this partiality??? its been 25 years..and that too he’s in top 4!! very bad.
