Happy New Year has opened very well in the overseas markets. The opening is the biggest of the year, ahead of Bang Bang, which is something that you expect from a film starring Shahrukh Khan.
From the number of screens that have been reported, Happy New Year has collected around Rs 7.5 crore in the United States of America and Canada, Rs 3.75 crore from United Kingdom, Rs 2.1 crore in Pakistan, Rs 1.7 crore from Australia and New Zealand, Rs 14 crore from UAE/GCC. The film has also fared fairly well in other overseas territories.
The worldwide gross of Happy New Year now stands at around Rs 133 crore till Saturday. The first weekend worldwide total should cross 190 crore and even touch 200 crore gross if the Sunday business from India and overseas exceed expectations.
Overall, a huge weekend all over. Not quite as good as Dhoom 3, which did outstanding business overseas even though it released during the dull pre-Christmas period overseas. But Dhoom was a brand and the second film in the series (starring Hrithik Roshan) also did very well. When the final overseas numbers come in, it will be the biggest overseas grosser for Shahrukh Khan bettering his previous release Chennai Express.

PK will defo break HNY’s overseas records as well as domestic.
Monday is crucial for HNY..it has to sustain around 15-16cr mark..or else it might crash.

though it wil not defeat the collections of d3 but still is xcellent considering hny is a farah khan film plus belongs to the masala genre. on the other hand dhoom was A Successful brand starring aamir who has developed quite a following in past few years bcoz of his track record. Also the production value was bigger n better.. n trailer too was recieved very well worldwide… anyways still hoping hny wil collect atleast 20$ million in sha Allah

lol HNY has taken biggest opening in india and oversees of 2014 even higher than kick, singham returns and bang 2 and released oversees in a dull period as there is no diwali holidays oversees and still has obtained excellent collection, the 2nd best after D3 brand which got best oversees release of christmas when most students and adults are on vacations. Still bhai fans called this failure even tho KICK and Jai Ho have been soundly beaten lol too much fun!
And one more thing…aamir khan starrer boi figure and producer figure are almost same…why???? think think thinkkk…..

@indicine I saw the movie today and I must say it was an entertaining watch… However for the record I think giving it 4 stars was too much- its entertaining in parts but other parts of it were too ridiculous- for instance if this was the third film of the Dhamaal series then I could have overlooked certain elements n said its all fun so forget logic but this was billed more as a heist film. I wont leave a review but will say we as a family enjoyed the movie- I liked Abhisheks character the most- I think 3 stars is just about right- if I can I may watch it during the week as its school holidays this coming week but its really a one time watch and buy the dvd to watch at your own leisure…!
PS out of principle I will still mock the film as its never gonna be a 200cr grosser- its too silly to be that successful of a movie…,!
Someone saying amir is the king of overseas (who was never in the race till 3 idiots)…& D3 is unarguably the biggest franchise of bollywood i must give credit to HR for what he did in D2…he is the guy who made Dhoom the biggest brand alongwith ABHI..Amir did great in D3…bt i think if yrf cast srk instead of amir, it could have been much much bigger worldwide than where it is right now.

I love films of srk aamir and salu, but I hate their fans coz all they talk is boxoffice numbers as if they will get share from the profit.what happened to good old cinema lovers, few years back all fans talk about was how the movie was.good or bad.
