Don 2 opened to a good response on Friday, picked up at high-end multiplexes on Saturday and ended it’s first weekend with a spectacular Sunday.
On Sunday, most multiplexes were sold-out for the entire day, including the morning shows. Even single-screens, where collections fell on Saturday, showed a slight jump in business on Sunday.
Weekend collections including non-hindi versions are below
- Friday – 14.5 crores
- Saturday – 15 crores
- Sunday – 18 crores
- Weekend total – 47.5 crores
It’s the third biggest weekend after Bodyguard and Ra One in 2011. The weekend business is comparable to last year’s Dabangg, but when the final collections come in, Don 2 could fall just short of Dabangg by a few lakhs. Don 2 benefited from higher ticket prices, 3D and regional versions. While Dabangg as a film had tremendous appeal at smaller centers.

This film is not targeted at masses aand low end multiplex so the Target audience are loving the movie…. Word of mouth is excellent that means it succeded in wht it targeted.
If we criticize by saying Don2 didnt break the records, srk is finished, blah blah. , the big actors will not make this kind of good movie, they ll hesitate to take risk by doing movie which don’t have universal appeal. Because even if u make gr8 movie like Don 2 u end up listening bad things….. This kind of comparison is not good for our film industry.

Loved the film :) and this is cming frm a diehard aamir khan fan :D
The weekend figures are excellent,the word of mouth is very good,the film is steady on monday,so don2 will surely go over 100 crores in the long run and that is a huge total.
According BOI monday looking nearly 8 crs & if film remain stady in weekdays its lifetime will 115-125 crs & if the drops continues then it will be end with 92-95 crs.

It’s difficult to give these estimates, who know how the turn out will be for the evening / night shows. Also, for a film like Don 2, it’s even harder to predict. On call with a few multiplexes, most are reporting good turn out and good advance for the night shows.
@Mahesh, both Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Ra One were not flops! A couple of distributors losing money, doesn’t mean a film is a flop.. 95% of those who invested in Ra One, made money.

Admin i have a point to make- u wrote that don 2 released in 3d and regional languages. Did anybody stoped salman frm converting into 3d?? N why are you nt including tamil telgu colection to total collection, this shows that tamil and telugu people are not indian??
Wat happen now?..all were saying dat don 2 will easily cross 180 crores in india..now even 130 crores looks difficult..i doubt if it can even cross 125 crores in india..!!
And one more thing- stop coparing don2 to dabang and bodyguard, its an insult to a movie like don2. The whole world is praising don2 and comparing it wid bourn series and mi4 . But you people just kp on sticking to low standard movie. Rajeev masand, amol mehra star news are group of idiots who dont have brain to understand technology. Exceptions r everywhere.

Also they placed Ra.One at 7th place.I think its due to some distributors had loss in it.

@Aadi, box-office and the quality of films are two different things. Dabangg was one of the biggest hits of last year. Hence the comparison. :)
@Pritam, yes.. did read that it was a mid-day list. And we still don’t agree with it. A couple of distributors in small centers lose money doesn’t mean the film is a flop :) What about those who made crores out of it? At worst semi-hit, not flop!

@Sanal, you can’t expect films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Don 2 to match upto Ra One or Bodyguard. So far, it’s doing very well. But yes.. less than 100 crores would be disappointing after a 47 crore weekend.
