Like we mentioned in the update at 7PM in the evening (read), Dilwale has shown a drop of around 50% from Friday. Estimates suggest, the Shah Rukh Khan film has collected around Rs 10 – 11 crore on Monday.
While the drop is a little higher than expected, more so when compared to the other film that has held very strong, most big films show similar drops. Salman Khan’s Kick last year collected Rs 26.52 crore on Friday and Rs 14.41 crore on Monday – the percentage of drop was 46%. Happy New Year also had a similar 52% drop on Monday from its first non-holiday (Saturday).
In short, neither has Dilwale held strongly on its first weekday, nor has it crashed at the box office. The film now has a challenging task of not only remaining steady over the weekdays, but also fighting off competition from Bajirao Mastani.
Which bring us to the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The hold is phenomenal, Bajirao Mastani has passed the Monday test with flying colours. Two things are certain now; one, Bajirao Mastani will cross the 100 crore mark in the domestic market and two, the film will recover its costs as the overseas business is very good too.
This, in itself, is a big win for the Bajirao Mastani team, because not many in the trade gave the film a chance prior to release.
Early estimates suggest, Bajirao Mastani has also collected somewhere in the 10 crore region. The film has crossed the 50 crore mark in 4 days, taking the total to somewhere around the 56 crore mark.
Check out the table below, it’s a day wise comparison between the two films. The fourth column is the day-wise difference, if Dilwale is ahead it will be highlighted in red and if Bajirao Mastani is leading, it will be highlighted in blue.
The story so far – the weekend belonged to Dilwale, it remains to be seen which film will hold better during the weekdays. Currently, it’s advantage Bajirao Mastani. The trend is outstanding and an excellent trend is always better than an excellent opening.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected more than 27cr on Monday. But combined collections of Bajirao mastani & Dilwale are around 20cr only. Still #indicine shamelessly defending Dilwale….LOL.

I also remember very clearly what happened when Sawariya clashed with OSO.. the kind of statements SRK gave saying he will destroy Bhansali and Ranbir..
This is Karma. He made unnecessary intolerance statement at wrong time.. he hurried to make and release Dilwale.. he didn’t get good screens which is exactly what he did to many others and Ekta Kapoor also when Chennai Express was to clash..

Average occupancy of Sunday around 85-90%.
Ticket prices are higher than HNY.
Total collections on Sunday (both movies)- 41-42cr.
The question is how did HNY collect 45cr on opening day with lower ticket price, same kind of occupancy and 1000 lesser screens???

Going forward with your logic, Combined collection of Dilwale and BM with 5000 screens and 85-90% occupancy was in the range of 41-42 r.
So how you justify the above collections ?
I look at this drop as a normal trend for dilwale and BM. While Dilwale started high on Friday so the drop on Monday whereas BM started low so drop was lesser. If Dilwale hold for next couple of days then from 24th it will see an upward trend. Now the only question would be how much of a jump? Only time will tell. And just to add on, I agree with Indicine, big crossers like Kick, prdp, hny and in fact even chennai express have gone through this. Very importantly Dilwale movie missed on some big single screens as well. And lastly I have seen BM personally and makes me feel is it getting the right attention or a forced one? Let’s wait till 25th

it seems, Dilwale was his last masala movie at least for next 2 years. He has Fan, Raees and he is in talks with Anand L Rai and Imtiyaz Ali. So, let’s hope for the best.

Now every SRK fan came up with overseas collection to compare with BM. but every1 knows that SRK is bigger star than ranveer in Overseas despite that BM collects 4.5 million where Dilwale collects 8.5 million. i don’t think dilwale will collect more then 16 million in overseas because WOM is not gret like Bajrangi bhaijaan or PK. but for SRK fans logic it will still collect 250 crore in domestic and 30 million in overseas, pathetic!!! just accept the fact SRK fans dilwale BO collection is not upto the mark while general public liked BM more than dilwale.
