Like we mentioned in the update at 7PM in the evening (read), Dilwale has shown a drop of around 50% from Friday. Estimates suggest, the Shah Rukh Khan film has collected around Rs 10 – 11 crore on Monday.
While the drop is a little higher than expected, more so when compared to the other film that has held very strong, most big films show similar drops. Salman Khan’s Kick last year collected Rs 26.52 crore on Friday and Rs 14.41 crore on Monday – the percentage of drop was 46%. Happy New Year also had a similar 52% drop on Monday from its first non-holiday (Saturday).
In short, neither has Dilwale held strongly on its first weekday, nor has it crashed at the box office. The film now has a challenging task of not only remaining steady over the weekdays, but also fighting off competition from Bajirao Mastani.
Which bring us to the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The hold is phenomenal, Bajirao Mastani has passed the Monday test with flying colours. Two things are certain now; one, Bajirao Mastani will cross the 100 crore mark in the domestic market and two, the film will recover its costs as the overseas business is very good too.
This, in itself, is a big win for the Bajirao Mastani team, because not many in the trade gave the film a chance prior to release.
Early estimates suggest, Bajirao Mastani has also collected somewhere in the 10 crore region. The film has crossed the 50 crore mark in 4 days, taking the total to somewhere around the 56 crore mark.
Check out the table below, it’s a day wise comparison between the two films. The fourth column is the day-wise difference, if Dilwale is ahead it will be highlighted in red and if Bajirao Mastani is leading, it will be highlighted in blue.
The story so far – the weekend belonged to Dilwale, it remains to be seen which film will hold better during the weekdays. Currently, it’s advantage Bajirao Mastani. The trend is outstanding and an excellent trend is always better than an excellent opening.

Plus point for dilwale is that it is collecting mainly in single screens now which tend to hold better. I don’t know if it will get the highly unused single screens by BM next week. If i does, that would just boost the collections. So basically, can’t just write Dilwale down. There is still enough scope for both films to come out as winners. PEACE :)

excellent hold of BM, the hold of Dilwale is alarming to say the least. Let’s hope it will remain consotent otherwise you never know that in lifetime BM come very close to it or even surpass it. The performance of BM clearly show that there is no bigger star than a well made film. Slb and Eros Set an example to everybody that khans are not unbeatable, any big film can clash it and even give them run for money if you have a great product. Take a bow Team BM.
actually I must say Eros has taken the revenge of jthj vs sos clash with srk, that time sos didn’t got much needed better single screens and now the same tactics they applied to BM and kept dilwale away from major SS. A very well made strategy though one may argue that its cheap but in rivalry everything is fair. Even srk played the same bad tricks with balaji during CE & ouatimd time.
I was always against the film dilwale, because from first time when I heard that it stars Kajol, I came to know that srk want to cash DDlj legacy as last year it completed 20 years and were in news for long. The title itself indicates the same. The product is prepared and made in hurry and with Rohit SRK just want to cash CE success again. initially even srk perhaps thought that SLB won’t move from Christmas, specially the way OSO defeated saawariya. But SLB and eros was unmoved. Second thing was huge success of Bahubali, Eros was producer of BB and they were well aware that how strong bahubali remain at boxoffice despite huge success of Bajrangi. so it give confidence to them for BM.
overall a great 2015 ended where we actually seen that audience right now looking for better film not only entertaining masala, that could be a reason that all superstars are coming with content driven film in 2016.

Yes, they did get it wrong then. More so with TWMR when they predicted 87 crores even after having seen it grow by 5 crores on day 2. But here I guess things look more settled and clear after 4 days of release. Plus, predictions are always exciting.
So now it seems the screen difference is no more a factor, also srk factor will be less than half but will remain till the end coz most ppl do pay heed to the lead actor b4 watching a movie no matter which day of the year and also now genre and wom will take centre stage!! ..
So frm now on in favour of dilwale is genre + srk movie factor

Dear indicine so far i havent seen any of ur article praising BM by heart knowing the fact that despite being clashed wid biggest film starring srk n kajol how wid no star value starlet ranveer has overcome all the trade expectations. You can’t compare Dilwale’s drop with Kick one. Because there was a pre Eid factor for Kick & also many more people (compared to Dilwale) had already watched it on weekend.
