Dhoom 3 has emerged as the highest grosser of all time ahead of films like Krrish 3 and Chennai Express. The film has broken second week records with business of around 68.5 crore net (including all versions), which is about the same as the first week collections of 3 Idiots!
Dhoom 3 has also become the first film to cross the 250 crore mark (Hindi version has collected 245.25 cr so far) and has an outside chance of being the first ever film to net Rs 300 crore in India.
Two films have released in theatres today – Arshad Warsi’s Joe B Carvalho and Ramesh Sippy’s all-time classic Sholay 3D – both of which are unlikely to pose any threat to the record-breaking run of Dhoom 3.

@sem forget to mention Aamir movies like Dil hai ke manta nahi,mann also which i liked and watch no of times,similarly loved Akele hum akele tum but its lacks repeat watching,and for srk also liked movies like Paheli,mnik,mhn,karan arjun etc. And completely unhappy with his don series,ra1 and Jthj as i found him so average in these movies or can called bad acting because i know how much acting caliber and potential he has and he could do way better act on those movies as he did or had done in movies which i liked of Srk. And there is no doubt how much he had given to film industry Globally.
Well the success of Aamir recently shows there is still hope for his nephew Imran Khan. This is so as Aamir was languishing with flops/average movies in 90’s just as Imran is doing today. I feel Aamir just got a little lucky recently. 3Idiots did gr8 because it was an extraordinary movie (Aamir was good but movie succeeded as it was a gr8 movie). Aamir was no better than R Madavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena in that movie. Even Boman Irani was better than him………….so the truth is 3Idiots only did extremely well due to director and it being a gr8 movie……………..Ghanjini was cut and paste south Masala remake and copy of gr8 Nolan movie Memento which was directed well by AR Murgadoss so it did well (Aamir performace was so-so in that). Face it people, Ghajini only did extremely well due to Aamir marketing whizz and Murgadoss direction, not due to his acting(he hammed a lot in this). Even Asin acted better than him in this movie. Fannaa got big opening as it was the return of Kajol…..and Kajol acting was flawless in that movie(she outacted Aamir)………….RDB was a mulitstarrer…………………..TZP only did well due to Darshel and becuz Aamir knew kids (and parents) wud like the movie a lot and it wud be a certain superhit (so no risk taken there)…………..also there was no risk taken when Aamir did Lagaan as the whole nation of India is obsessed with cricket and getting even with the British…………….finally there was absolutely no risk with Dhoom 3 as any established star playing villan wud have caused the movie to do well as it is doing now(as Dhoom is the biggest brand movie of bollywood……in fact if it was Hrithik, Salman or SRK playing the villian the movie may have crossed 300 crores by now………………….so Aamir is good star and has good fan following but has been a little lucky to have as much success as he had in last decade…………………….he still is behing SRK and Salman IMO even Hrithik is in front of him and even Ranbir is ahead of him(just look at star power of Ranbir for YJHD success and the big opening of disaster movie Besharam).
Lol… now haters (chatur rama lingam) giving all credit to franchise if it is true then why ruk ruk failed to cross even 120 crores with don franchise , high ticket price , more screens , holiday period , open weeks , good review.
The fact is that whenever Aamir sir do any commercial entertainer movie then all previous records will be shattered and if you talk about quality then 3 idiots will be the best movie of indian cinema.
Dhoom 2 is a bakwaas movie but collected 80 crs in India and 8.6 million $ in 2006, miracle! Krish which was better movie collected just 4 million $ in 2006 and less in

Dhoom 3 is a bakwaas movie as well and on par with Dhoom 2 as content is concerned. Krrish 3 and Chennai express is 1000 times better. Again miracle, Dhoom 3 has collected 255 crs in India and 23 million $ till now.
Just wondering why audience is liking Dhoom franchise inspite of weak content is beyond my imagination!

@romance we all Aamir fans and Salman fans knows that is all three khan statistics,srk has overseas totally in his control but still Aamir creates milestones here.Aamir hit ratio is comparatively low when compared to Srk and Salman but there is also a fact that he delivered great movies more than both with different zoner. Sachin hits 49 centuries in odi, but Gambhir’s 97 & Dhoni’s 91 match winning runs in world cup 2011 finals are unmatchable and bigger than any century.

@triniman thanx bro finally i found the secret of success of d3 and ce,Aamir used Salman to promote d3 so can Salman fans rush to theatres and similarly Salman hugged Srk before CE release in a Roja get together as before Srk had not crossed even Ready collection. So despite being no release in 2013,Salman has two highest grosser d3 & ce, this itself shows how popular Salman is,as his promotion can make others movies blockbuster,jai ho. Now you happy. There is no doubt that Salman helps others so he also did for Aamir and srk,he wished srk before ce release that film do well,but the success of both movies is only due to them, d3 due Aamir and dhoom brand, Ce due to Srk and Rohit entertainer Brand, a popular heroine in both case are icing on the cake. So accept the fact man.

@aks- 4 ur kind information ghajini was a remake and that 2 of a very big movie which was a blockbuster in South…so…expectedly it got a gr8 opening and a great overall run….don 2 did release in more screens but there was no hike in ticket prices…and also….remakes do very well…..as u see the case in most salman’s movies..his non remake films like ETT and dabangg 2 did well only in 1st week and dropped heavily from den on!!!! Also…chennai express collected more than 40 crores in its 2nd week and that 2 from less than 1500 screens whereas dhoom 3 collected 68 crores in 2nd week and that 2 with more than 4000 screens…there is no big release until jan 24th…so…it has a very open run….if CE had such open week…it wud have easily crossed 275-280 crore…and also ticket pice of dhoom 3 was not same as that of CE…even CE had hike…but D3 had very big hike..the hike was. Atleast 500-1000 at most places across the country especially metros…….so that was a big advantage…also the dhoom brand is very popular…ok??

@asgwin Don was also a remake of cult Amitabh movie in 1978,and every one knows its struggle to get to called a hit, i know basically this kind of questions line up from my comments because Dusre ki thali ka ghee jyada hi lagta h,there are more remakes also but every one not got that status what Ghajini has got, and what does a remake can contribute because Srk fan never count Aamir as popular star or crowd pullar, that’s why i just give comparison of opening of Aamir vs srk irrespective of their final collection of movies because at the end a star can provide a healthy weekend after that only content works, @sem great you included Billu to add Dhobi ghat for comparison but forget to mention Tzp who clashed with Biggie welcome who was 2nd highest grosser of 2007 and tzp was 04th.

@aks- even i am a big fan of aamir..but bigger of srk..both r brilliant….but it was the 2nd part…don of 2006 was the official remake..and also such movies dont go down well wid d audience.. also don 2 lacked promotion..and frankly speaking…don 2 action was much betr dan dhoom 3…chasing scenes,robbery scenes etc…and don 2 got affected by dat uzeless “Ra One!!” all the hype was on ra one!!…also ghajini was a remake of a south…so no 1 from north wud not have even no dat…nd it was a blockbuster in south….but respect 2 aamir as well..even he has been a legend in b’wood!!!!:):)
@aks- ya..opening shud be seen….in dat sense…….don 2 collected 45cr+ and 48cr+ according to boi nd taran adarsh…nd dat 2 in 2800-3000 screens…official number not known..sum say 2800….and also the movie lacked publicity nd promotions….den even ra one opened terrifically…bcoz of the useless story it had..it slipped at the BO!! But it opened well….even Jthj opened well…..bcoz of over the top publicity 4 ra one….don 2 was hardly promoted bug still it opened amazingly….not fighting…just telling d facts…..in the end both dese guys r legendary:)
@aswin i used lifetime collection of both ghajini and don2, and for opening weekend compared year by year wise so in 2010 and 2011 there were no Aamir movie how can i compare opening of them with Aamir,its obvious.And used Mnik as it was released less than 2 month after 3i, so opening of Ghajini and Don2 can’t be comparable and use don 2 with Ghajini as Ghajini were remake and don is a sequal of remake,@sem please check gross of Partner and Tzp, i clearly mentioned Tzp was 4th highest grosser while 5th big hit,for ghulam it was 6th which you mention and For Sarfarosh as you mentioned i am wrong as i got these info from wiki and they updated wrong and i can’t found these collection in boi.
How dare you comare CHENNAI EXPRESS with DHOOM3. See there was no heroine almost. The second half carried out by Amir only. Whereas CE had the great Deepika and Rohit Shetty. Dhoom3 was an awsome movie. Whereas CE was a very very bad film. Srk purchased all the tickets by his dalals and so the success. And never mention about the overseas market. There is no value of Indian films by foreigners. It is being watched by the NRIs only. Oveases success does not mean anything special. Pahele apne desh me achcha lago uske baad ho sake to bidesh ke bare mein socho. Having a bad face, tupical mannerisms, average acting ability, SRk came to this position only by luck.
Lol sarfarosh has less collection than badashah and here some Amir fans want movie to be declared as a hit because they liked it.

@Aks. Boi opening note is absolutely rubbish and biased toward Amir. Kank had highest opener with 27.88 cr in week one beat krish 26 cr. while fanaa 24 cr and rdb 21 don 24 cr despite clashing with janeman. Dhoom2 broke all record with 34 cr week. Mhn broke k3g log standing record still in Boi book it was excellent opening instead if bumper. Veerzara opening was 16 cr despite clashing with 3 other movies mangal pandey 18 cr broke it after 10 month with large no of print and high ticket. (Note that multiplex growth was at its peak) rbdj 6.75 cr on non holiday. While gajini national holiday collection was 9.25. But according to Boi later is poor and former is aerage only. Don2 open with 15 cr non holiday records. Still it is only good for Boi not excellent. First research, analyse and then comment just don’t follow Boi blindly.
