In today’s times, more than the investors and trade, movie-goers are curious to know about the business economics of big films. How much does Akshay Kumar’s Holiday need to collect to be a Hit? How much does it need to recover costs? For how much were the satellite rights sold for? What about the music rights? — We’ve been literally bombarded with these questions.

Total investment: Reliance invested around 75-80 crore on Holiday. (A reliable source has confirmed that the investment is 75 crore+ and not as high as 90 crore – a figure that has been quoted on various websites) Additionally, around 15 crore was spent on marketing.
Recovery
- Satellite Rights: 39 crore
- Music rights: 5.67 crore (Zee Music)
- Other rights (home video etc): 2 crore
- India Distributors share: 23 crore (4 days)
- Overseas share: 5 crore (4 days)
- Total recovery for Reliance: 74.67 crore
So in short, Reliance has already recovered a major chunk of its investment on Holiday in less than 4 days. The film could go on to be a much bigger grosser, both in the domestic and overseas markets.
Individual distributors have paid very high prices for Holiday. Tax exemptions would have given the film a huge boost, but given the positive word-of-mouth and Monday business (less than 50% drop), all its investors should recover their investment in the long run.
5 Day collections of holiday has become almost 54 cr as it collect 7.25 on tuesday.
@jc:what’s wrong in my comment? ?i called znmd was best superstar film of this decade. Having said dat there might be better film than ZNMD in 2011-14,but i am saying about superstar films. Do u expect me to call ur ready as best? Even u ask urself, which film of superstars best in those years?and i have mentioned 7 8 names already.

@nipun u need not to support ur fav star movie instead support our Amir movie. For us zmmd is boring and crap but dch is cult classics even it is average and bore. We Amir fans are more intelligent and know everything about acting. Bottom line

I don’t care weather holiday is an atbb or blockbuster or superhit, for me a hit is a hit end of the day and grossing respectable amount worldwide is big enough to perceive the success of the movie. Remember akshay’s strong point is comedy and action, and holiday is the opposite of that, its a more serious action thriller with terrorism at backdrop, and seeing his serious films can also work and gross over 100 crore is enough to silence his critics that only his action comedy mixed works. special chabbis is another film which fell little short of the hit verdict. for me if holiday released in a holiday it would of gross even bigger with better promotion. I’m sure indicine will also agree with this post. :)

That’s natural. .also i have seen many ppl(even non-hrfans) calling znmd as one of their all time favs. .bt i haven’t seen many ppl calling s26 as their all time fav.

@nipun Both JTHJ and Don2 were critically acclaimed and both earned more than ZNMD. And if you dont inclued these films in the best superstar movies, its because Srk is not a superstar but a megastar.

it’s a really n truly movie 4 d indian solgrs which has been presented by Akki. Actaully, Akki is a real hero who has given the suggestion 4 Indian solgrs. it will b mostly liked by the indian citizens/solgers bcz these kind of problem is being faced by the indian government or by the world. i would like 2 rate 5 out of 5.

Akshay Kumar is no1 in Bollywood, u can argue wht u wnt, specially the Srk nd Salman fans, but u jst can’t beat Akki in his game, he can deliver 4 films a year after all these years, just think about it, Seriousley doubt Srk , Salman can gve 4 hits on the trot in one calendar , he is in his own league, at least couple of steps ahead of Srk nd Salman. Release ur Srk nd Salmans film on non holidays, let’s c how dey reach 100 crore, or let them release 4 films a year.
