In today’s times, more than the investors and trade, movie-goers are curious to know about the business economics of big films. How much does Akshay Kumar’s Holiday need to collect to be a Hit? Total investment: Reliance invested around 75-80 crore on Holiday. (A reliable source has confirmed that the investment is 75 crore+ and not as high as 90 crore – a figure that has been quoted on various websites) Additionally, around 15 crore was spent on marketing.
Recovery
- Satellite Rights: 39 crore
- Music rights: 5.67 crore (Zee Music)
- Other rights (home video etc): 2 crore
- India Distributors share: 23 crore (4 days)
- Overseas share: 5 crore (4 days)
- Total recovery for Reliance: 74.67 crore
So in short, Reliance has already recovered a major chunk of its investment on Holiday in less than 4 days. The film could go on to be a much bigger grosser, both in the domestic and overseas markets.
Individual distributors have paid very high prices for Holiday. Tax exemptions would have given the film a huge boost, but given the positive word-of-mouth and Monday business (less than 50% drop), all its investors should recover their investment in the long run.

we all know that znmd was great,one of the best movie in recent time and also my all time fav film of hrithik.

indicine now dont come up with things like satellite rights, music rights blah blah blah. if you include these things for every movie then no film is a failure. every film recovers its cost through these rights. we are talking boxoffice. budget 90 crores, it should do atleast 120 crores or more to be called a hit. plain and simple.
Holiday is trending well. Finaly Murugados wud get his due.. I think the film wud do 120 crs bussines in the end. Akshay is rising to be a serious threat to Ranveer and Arjun kapoor. Finally SRK, Aamir and Salman and Hrithik cud be challenged by future superstar in the form of Ranbhir, Ranveer, Arjun and Akshay.
2 states missed Jai ho Collection by a whisker. However, Holiday ill definitely surpass it. Then kick would cross Holday. Then Bang Bang wud cross Kick. Then HNY wud cross Bang bang. Then PK wud cross HNY. This is how every one wud think but Acc. to me HNY will do bussiness in excess of 250 crs followed by Kick, PK, Bang Bang and Singham Returns. I have 0 % success ration as prediction goes but I hope this time my prediction gets right. My top 10 wud be

@manas,znmd is good but not best.it’s a totally boring movie I had seen in my entire life.I slept for around 1 hour when the heroes were visiting in car.the climax was not so good.also hr also done little bit overrated act.I think if someone said that film meaningless then it’s totally true,I think poor Indians impressed a lot during DCH which showed holiday in goa now it’s bachelor party in spain also it couldn’t liked by overseas audiences,lol.

You have quoted the promotions cost of Holiday to 15 cr.
Now, with so much low promotions, if it can cost 15 Cr for Holiday, what was the actual promotions of CE, which was promoted like on every tv channels, radio, every city, most international events and cities etc., and Rohit Shetty himself telling that the promotions have gone over the head.
I don’t want to speculate, but it easily should have been around 30 to 40 cr.

Indicine it is theatrical run of the movie due to which got tag of hit, average or other, music rights, satellite rights etc are just bonus for producers but theatrical run is neccessary for a movie to become hit.
