The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is the biggest movie website on the planet, receiving millions of visitors every day. One of the best features on the website is the ‘IMDb Rating’, which is based on user votes and reviews.
Movies that are rated above 8 are considered to be classics and anything above 6.5 is a good rating.
In the first part of the series, we will be analysing the IMDb ratings of Bollywood films featuring the top actors in Bollywood. This article will be followed by analysis of actresses, directors and production houses. The ultimate goal is to find the actors, directors and banners that have been churning out good films consistently.

But Srk has the maximum number of 8+ ratings.Some of his movies are bordering on 7.9.Just because off late he hasn’t done too many good movies people are comparing him with Salman(who has only 1 movie rated more than 8)and Aamir is considered to be in a different league.But the fact is Srk has more number of classics than Aamir and more than any of his contemporaries.This is perhaps the reason why people adore him so much and have faith in his work.I am pretty sure Fan and Raees too will be cult classics.People are blaming him for doing too many masala movies in order to break records but he is the only actor who stayed away from this genre for a long period of time.And he did want to take a break from doing intense flicks.So he has every right to explore new genres.Unlike others who used the shortcut formula of remaking south flicks he always tried to do something new.Here are a list of Srk movie having a rating higher than 8

If you see the detailed rating of Bajrangi Bhaijaan on IMDB then you can find nearly 700-800 people rated 1*
whereas neutral people rated it from 8 to 10.
Some Srk fans rated 1* & written in user review section that film is bad.
But all these reviews are written on 16th July a day before release of the film.
I really feel sad for these frustated soles.

Of course Aamir Khan will be at the top because in the last 10 years he has done some excellent movies.Good to see Akshay Kumar at third spot but I hope he gets his due at the box office too..hopefully brothers should be his much needed monstrous hit..Hrithik roshans position is secured because he has a Mohenjadaro coming up which should be more of an experience rather than a film..and after Fan and Raees Shahrukh Khan has strong chances of breaking into top 3..Salman Khan’s films are blockbusters at the box office so who cares for IMDB ratings..the only disappointment is seeing Ajay Devgan at the last spot..he really deserves a place amongst the top 5-6..I hope drishyam and Shivaay gets him rid from that last spot

No offense to Akki but out of the 5 mentioned movies three of them have been remakes.So it would unfair to credit him for the success of Gabbar and Holiday when both these movies are cult classics in Kollywood
Yes IMDB ratings should not be considered as a yardstick to judge a films’ quality,only ratings of wannabe strict manipulative critics like Rajeev masand,Anupama Chopra and Nipun Kumar should be the only parameter.

Brilliant analysis by Indicine . I don’t write reviews on IMDB but i follow the ratings of movies . It is great to see Aamir and Hrithik on top 2 spots both are my favourites . It feels bad to see Ajay in the last spot but his choice of movies has been pathetic in the last 2 years to be honest . I hope with Drishyam his ranking improves . It is great to see Akshay on the 3rd spot . Baby, Holiday and GIB were good movies . I hope Brothers will have a good story . I am not having any expectations from SIB because of PrabhuDeva . But let’s hope that it is a good comedy movie .

Aamir is best Actor …. Even though he is a big superstar, where everyone follows him due his unique characters played in each movie . After each hit movies he will come back again and convince that he is not aamir khan but just a character is the movie(initially his name brings fans into the cinema houses)but at the end it’s the character that leaves the mark. Whats negative about being ‘lazy’ about picking a script…?
Afterall you have to think about your reputation, your precious time allocating dates, your trust in director/ producer being able to transform the idea from paper to the silver screen etc etc etc Thats not being lazy but very prudent after all a bad film that you have spent 2 yrs making will be remembered by everyone for the next 2 yrs until your next movie arrives so why rush into a bad film eh…? These guys take their time and history tells us that over the course of 100 yrs of bollywood we the audience can only really remember a dozen or so really true classics so trying your best in making a classic isnt a bad trait to have you moron…!
People can vote in spite of a movie to lower its rating as well. Allegedly, fans SRK began voting PK as a 1 (on a 10 scale) while voting HNY a 10.
Honestly, most people just use IMDB to find out “who was that actor/actress…” and that is a big problem with imdbs list personally I vote on a film depending on how much i enjoyed it and how much it entertained me, because i think thats what a film is meant to do, entertain you or make you think, i gave Bajrangi Bhaijan 9/10 because i thought the plot was amazing and i also gave 3 Idiot 10 because i enjoy, in my opinion that’s how a film should be voted, by how much you enjoyed. Not by a film critic who says its the best and most important film of all time, maybe you might think its the most important but not the best so by giving it a 10 your lying to yourself and not giving your review!
