Don 2 released today and while the reviews are mixed, Shahrukh Khan’s performance has received tremendous appreciation from both the critics and movie-goers.
Which brings us to the question; Will SRK win the Best Actor award for his performance in Don 2?
Before we pick our choice, let’s look at some of the best performances of the year (from commercially successful movies only, as others don’t stand a chance)
These are also most likely to be the Filmfare Best Actor nominations for 2011
- Hrithik Roshan for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – Has no chance this year as Farhan Akhtar’s performance received more appreciation. Is Farhan a contender for Best Actor? Unlikely, but these popular award nominations never fail to surprise!
- Salman Khan for Bodyguard – Well, both his roles in Bodyguard and Ready had no scope for acting histrionics. Salman fans won’t like it, but we doubt he’ll win the Best Actor award this year. If he does attend, a new award category is likely to be created!
- Shahrukh Khan for Don 2 – One of the best performances of the year and easily his personal best since Chak De India. Will he win this year too?
- Ajay Devgan for Singham – A box-office monster with good performances. But Ajay doesn’t attend award functions and has publicly said, he doesn’t believe in them anymore. He’ll be nominated, but they would rather give it to Salman than Ajay. Similar roles, but Salman being the more popular actor, chances of winning for Ajay are bleak.
- Ranbir Kapoor for Rockstar – Again, one of the very best of the year, but does he stand a chance against SRK?
- Amitabh Bachchan for Buddha Hoga Tera Baap / Aarakshan – Both films flopped at the box-office, no chance.
So, the two major contenders are Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Out of two, if we’d to pick one, it would be SRK for Don 2. Simply because we loved his character and his performance.

i just watched don 2 and all i got to say this is what happens when a best driector and best actor work together they create history. the old shahrukh is back. i never watched the old don of the great mr. bachan but still i would say after watching don 2 nobody can be a don as better as shahrukh with phenominal dialouge deiivery and acting. first i thought its b/w salman and shahrukh but now it srk for best actor and salman for popular actor. i dont know about the box office but don 2 just might do same as dabangg and bg.

@pritam the first Days figures of Don 2 r nt out yet so how can u say that it grossed 15 crores..
Doosri baat ra.one ka worldwide gross 240 crore tha aur bodyguard ka 227 to ra.one ne bodyguard ka record tab tod diya tha..
Aur rahi aamir ki baat wo apne baap ka saga nahi hai apne sage bhai faizal tak ko usne pagal karar de diya to salman ko kya poochega..
Aur rahi sallu ki baat Tum jaise auto rickshe walo ki wajah se bechare ka gujara chal raha hai kyunki tumhe uski sadakchhap type filmein pasand hai..
Par sallu ko tum Filmfare Best Actor Award kabhi nahi dila sakte..
& on 29 of January It will be Shahrukh Khan who will recive that Black Lady..

Indicine, why do u say responses are mixed.I have read only positive reviews about the movie.Who talk negative comments must not hav understood the movie because it’s a bit too complicated and twisted.
Definitely SRK is going to win the award this year too. No doubt about that. 100% sure.

Aur ek baat kisi RAAJIV MASAND naam ke chutiye ne critic ne DON 2 ko sirf 2 star diye hai, sale sallu k baap ki nazaaiz aulad lagta hai.
