Don 2 released today and while the reviews are mixed, Shahrukh Khan’s performance has received tremendous appreciation from both the critics and movie-goers.
Which brings us to the question; Will SRK win the Best Actor award for his performance in Don 2?
Before we pick our choice, let’s look at some of the best performances of the year (from commercially successful movies only, as others don’t stand a chance)
These are also most likely to be the Filmfare Best Actor nominations for 2011
- Hrithik Roshan for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – Has no chance this year as Farhan Akhtar’s performance received more appreciation. Is Farhan a contender for Best Actor? Unlikely, but these popular award nominations never fail to surprise!
- Salman Khan for Bodyguard – Well, both his roles in Bodyguard and Ready had no scope for acting histrionics. Salman fans won’t like it, but we doubt he’ll win the Best Actor award this year. If he does attend, a new award category is likely to be created!
- Shahrukh Khan for Don 2 – One of the best performances of the year and easily his personal best since Chak De India. Will he win this year too?
- Ajay Devgan for Singham – A box-office monster with good performances. But Ajay doesn’t attend award functions and has publicly said, he doesn’t believe in them anymore. He’ll be nominated, but they would rather give it to Salman than Ajay. Similar roles, but Salman being the more popular actor, chances of winning for Ajay are bleak.
- Ranbir Kapoor for Rockstar – Again, one of the very best of the year, but does he stand a chance against SRK?
- Amitabh Bachchan for Buddha Hoga Tera Baap / Aarakshan – Both films flopped at the box-office, no chance.
So, the two major contenders are Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Out of two, if we’d to pick one, it would be SRK for Don 2. Simply because we loved his character and his performance.

Indicine team u always praise srk but why?isn’t salman’s acting in bodyguard or ready is praised by audiences?he is also a very good actor n hope he wins every award coz he is the people’s hero of this year.
Joya, both SRK and Salman were good.. If it was between Ra One and Bodyguard, we’d pick Salman.. But SRK was brilliant in Don 2 :)
Indicine you are right we call everything which is true like Diamond is Diamond Stone is Stone Gold is Gold and copy is copy, I like Ajay devgans acting in Singham but its second best because Shahrukh Khans acts are fabulous in both Ra.one and Don 2 and really in Don 2 its awesome no.1.
