Bajirao Mastani, Dilwale 3rd Day Box Office Collections

Bajirao Mastani has shown phenomenal growth in business on Sunday, what with collections of the film set to come in the 18 crore range. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film picked up by around 20% on Saturday and then again by 20-25% on Sunday, giving the film a very good weekend of around 47 crore in India.

The historical is carrying excellent word-of-mouth and looking at the weekend trends, there are chances that the film could collect 10 crore plus on Monday. Usually, when there is 20% or more growth on Day 2 and Day 3, it’s also a sign that the film has been liked by the audience and will hold during weekdays.

The other release, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale wasn’t so lucky. As far as protests and cancellation of shows were concerned, it was a peaceful day. But there were a few stray incidents, like in Mangalore (Karnataka) where some shows of the film were cancelled on Sunday and advance booking has been put on hold for the weekdays due to protests.

The average growth for Dilwale at most centres that we tracked was around the 15% mark, some were a little lower, others were higher. The impact of shows getting cancelled or resuming after protests is currently not very clear. As per estimates, the film should collect around 23 crore on Sunday, taking the weekend total to around the 64 crore mark.

For the industry, it has been a big day at the box office. The combined collections of both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale is set to be around the 42 crore mark.

Monday and the remaining weekdays will be important for both films, as the better performing film will get more shows at multiplexes in Week 2. There is the much-hyped Hollywood film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ which releases in theatres on Christmas day, it will occupy a few screens too. The fact that big ticket Hollywood films are performing well in India (especially at Metro cities), has encouraged exhibitors to allocate plenty of shows in recent times.

The battle for screens and shows will continue in Week 2, so steady / good collections during the weekdays will be crucial for both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale.

  • Let’s get it straight for Dilwale. 64 crores weekend in India. $ 8.1M weekend opening in overseas which is second best to Dhoom 3(without any clash). Best in gulf. BM excellent in Mumbai and Mysore, fair in other parts, poor in east. Lol. Now Indicine team pls read BOI and let me know which film is trending well across the world…:). Publish my comment on the top.

  • indicine n srk fans r talking like 500-600 shows r getting cancel everyday
remember fannah was banned in gujrat by government itself still it was blockbuster.
accept the reality tht srk cannot make a gud film n nw expert in diasppoimtimg audience. STOP LAME EXCUSES..
N PLZ PLZ BE HONESTN GIVE CREDIT TO BAJIRAO.

  • There is extreme Intolerance in India they prooved it that is 100% true by doing this!! If they can stop then go and stop in abroad! Srk is respectful person globally he prooved again but very sad that now in India now secularism is weakening and strongly fanatics people r ruling now! Don’t let them success

  • Indicine I have always been a fan of your site and agreed with your analysis.’ But I have to ay i dislike the tone in which you are demeaning Dilwale. The film has been hit with negativity like a ton of bricks and yet it’s performing decently. When you send out tweets saying it’s underperforming, who is that helping, it’s only contributing to the negativity. I’m not saying praise it if it’s not doing well, but no need to over publicise any negativity. Please be positive

  • i am not either SALMAN or SARUK fan but mark my words if SULTAN and RAEES release on same day then SULTAN will crush RAEES and annihilate it

  • @Indicine, Why overseas collection article is not being mentioned when Dilwale is smashing all records left and right?

  • Formula to earn more then 200 crs : Release movie on big holiday attached to weekend. Max. No screen around 3800-4400. Huge hype. Big star Big controversy. No clash in week or 2 week. Good public review. And big one is content. Srk bhai yeh tum kaise bhul Gaye. Any way hope from FAN and RAES.

  • Dilwale had a strong Sunday growing around 15-20% to gross around 23 crore nett. the figure could be come out a little higher as some cities in Gujarat have shown big gains and if this is the case with all the states then the figure could go higher.

The disruptions that the film faced in various regions over the first two days due to political issues were less on Sunday. The weekend of the film will be around 64 crore nett which is good total as it was a non holiday weekend and the screenings were around 40% less than what a big film like this world normally get. Some circuits have under performed due to less screens especially Delhi /UP but generally most circuits are good with some having excellent weekend business.

Bajirao Mastaani also showed 15-20% growth on Sunday as its business will be in the range of 17.50 crore nett. The weekend will be around 45 crore nett which is actually a good number if looked at it from the face value point of view but low for the costs involved. It really needed a higher start or the growth on Saturday and Sunday to be higher.

Bajirao Mastani fared very well in Maharashtra and Mysore, fair in other parts with West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Orissa being poor. The film also had a Telugu and Tamil version which fared very poorly and grossed around 75 lakhs nett over the weekend.

  • Indian government and people is silent and see what is happening with muslims in india.
What is happening with 3 Khans. They stop peoples to see these 3 khans films
It is very sad what is happening in india because PM modi said ‘India is secular nation’ and also the 42nd Amendment of the Constitution of India enacted in 1976, the Preamble to the Constitution asserted that India is a secular nation.
Now where is secular nation and what is happening with muslims and other religion.

  • PRDP and Dilwale should be an eye opener to film makers and the stars. It shows that having a top superstar and grand sets / cars / locales and high end budgets are not going to make the public flock into the theaters for continuous days. Obviously these films will have a huge first weekend due to the hype created and the buzz surrounding the release. But once the content is rejected the writing is on the wall for the film from first Monday onwards.

PRDP had a HUGE first weekend (4 days) where it collected more than 125 cr nett and when a film which collects that much in the first 4 days then struggle to touch the 200 cr mark in its final run you know something is not right there. Big stars book the festive periods to create the maximum initial which make them and their movies safe and it has been going on for a while now. But public are now giving the right message that they can’t be fooled like before and they are looking more at the content than the stars. SRK has been disappointing with his releases of late dishing out brainless films such as Chennai Express, HNY and now Dilwale. Same with Salman for a few years now except for Bajrangi Bhaijan.

However 2016 gives me hope seeing the films lined up and I am also happy that the A Listers’ films are not brainless masala flicks and hope the films like Fan, Raees, Sultan, Mohenjo Daro, Airlift and Dangal make us and our industry proud. :)

  • no one else can compete with numero uno megastar aamir khan in india, overseas. he is in his own league. no one is as big as him. only he rules box office and bollywood. waiting for dangal.

  • Nothing makes me feel happy than watching these pathetic srk fan boys crying…….ha ha

Stop making excuses crying “Protest” “Protest”….idiots . The movie itself is pathetic..and you should have been saying thanks to the nationalist people who have been protesting because of them dilwale is getting free publicity …if not for them the movie is already dead and finished.

From now on people like srk and aamir will think 100 times before opening their mouth .Aamir must have been trembling with fear watching what happened to srk. But I can tell you that even worse than this is gonna happen to Aamir….

It’s really satisfying to see Bajirao destroying dilwale….can’t express in words…

    Har Har Mahadev!!!!!

  • Really feeling sad for sarook but not for his dumb & lunatic fans…

They r getting their payback and I think they deserve this…

Ae le le, ae le, ae le…
Ae le le, le le rey…
Chel bete burnol le le rey…

  • Srk’s Dilwale collection is good but Ranveer’s bajirao mastani collection is outstanding .
Depends on Monday collection which movie are successful run at box office.

  • Indicine is being way too pessimistic. Dilwale has got less capacity due to less screens. Even with 100% occupancy, it cannot cross 27-28 Cr. Dilwale is performing low not due to demand crunch but it is due to supply crunch. BM is showing growth with almost same number of screens, bcoz its opening was low. Worldwide gross of Dilwale is 145-150Cr, third highest of 2015 behind BB 187 cr and PRDP 185 cr. BM worldwide gross 85-90 cr.

  • @SRK fans plz note that overseas collection jo hai sirf Friday ka nahi hai, wo Thursday ka bhi hai.

  • LOl everyone is crying on SRK and Dilwale Y??
To one stupid eho uses Aamir khan the mega star
Talassh dint do 100 cr in 2012
    where were u brother??
Clash and protests and ANtiSRK fans especially salman khan fans are the worst i have evr seen
They call themselves being human ..disgrace to this world
joke…idiots Don2 released 2 months after ra.one still wa sthe highest non holiday opener!!
Thats the reason SRK broke 3 idiots 4 year record!!
Salman fans have short memory and are half minded
    LOl 2000-2009 most flops-Salmam Khan
SRK and probably Aamir the most consistent since 25 years
