Bajirao Mastani has performed very well on its 2nd day at the box office, accumulating a good total of Rs 15.52 crore net. Ideally, this is where the starting point of the film should have been, but growth of 22% from Friday is a positive trend.
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was excellent in Maharashtra, but even in the North – where it was not expected to do well – the film has shown excellent gains. Saturday was better than Friday in NCR and surrounding multiplex dominated areas, and Sunday is set to be higher than Saturday.
In just two days, there is a big lesson to be learnt from a clash between two big films. Fans of actors will watch their hero on the big screen, but the normal audience who want value for the money that they spend, are more than willing to give the smaller of the two films a chance.
Multiplex tickets are insanely expensive now, especially in metro cities where it can cost a family of 4 upwards of 2000 rupees per movie outing. So the film that carries better word-of-mouth (or in other words the film that gets recommended by friends) – irrespective of the star cast – will be given preference.
Bajirao Mastani is looking at first weekend business of around 46 crore and possibly 75 crore first week. Anything more than a 75 crore first week would set the film up for a long and successful run at the box office.

- Total collections – 28.32 crore
The way the buzz creating and critics thums-up people will move to watch BM content is the king star value can give decent start in box office but after two days content matters for long run.
And finally SLB got the revenge he so desperately needed after saawariya. Lets see where the two movies go from here!

Its almost end of the year and family audiences come out in numbers. Rightly said that they want value for money.
Because of that.. A huge chunk of business will come from weekdays when the ticket prices are comparitively lower and families are willing to spend their hard earned moolah on movies. And ofc, the movie with the better trending and better WOM will be given an edge..irrespective of the star cast. Sorry, Shah Rukh and Dilwale.. But Bhansali’s dream project might just do what you had never even thought about.. Not in ur dreams! ;)

Rohit shetty was trying to convert it in an intense twisted love story instead of an Action-Comedy maybe because of srk-kajol pairing . That’s where he failed . As I said, Maratha Warrior would beat the Wankhede Hooligan in the long run. It’s happening now. The stardom and popularity of Ram Lal is fizzling out quicker that it was thought to be.
