Bajirao Mastani 2nd Day Box Office Collections

Bajirao Mastani has performed very well on its 2nd day at the box office, accumulating a good total of Rs 15.52 crore net. Ideally, this is where the starting point of the film should have been, but growth of 22% from Friday is a positive trend.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was excellent in Maharashtra, but even in the North – where it was not expected to do well – the film has shown excellent gains. Saturday was better than Friday in NCR and surrounding multiplex dominated areas, and Sunday is set to be higher than Saturday.

In just two days, there is a big lesson to be learnt from a clash between two big films. Fans of actors will watch their hero on the big screen, but the normal audience who want value for the money that they spend, are more than willing to give the smaller of the two films a chance.

Multiplex tickets are insanely expensive now, especially in metro cities where it can cost a family of 4 upwards of 2000 rupees per movie outing. So the film that carries better word-of-mouth (or in other words the film that gets recommended by friends) – irrespective of the star cast – will be given preference.

Bajirao Mastani is looking at first weekend business of around 46 crore and possibly 75 crore first week. Anything more than a 75 crore first week would set the film up for a long and successful run at the box office.
