Akshay Kumar has announced his next film with his ‘Baby’ and ‘Special 26’ director Neeraj Pandey. The film, titled ‘Rustom’, will release in theatres during the Independence Day weekend next year.
Interestingly, the same weekend has been booked by Ashutosh Gowariker’s ambitious period film ‘Mohenjo Daro’ starring Hrithik Roshan in the lead.
Not only does it set up a massive clash between superstars like Akshay and Hrithik, but it’ll also be a clash between two of the most acclaimed directors in the industry, Neeraj Pandey and Ashutosh Gowariker.
Hours before his 48th birthday, Akshay made the announcement on Twitter.

What a joke! @indicine post something different. Everyone knows Hritik will give Akshay a lifetime lesson. Akshay should better postpon that movie. Hands down eyes closed ears shut Hritik will always smackdown Akshay.
No offense akki fans but we just have to call a spade a spade. Don’t even try releasing any movies with Ak Srk Sk Hr Ad. Am sure producers will already be reviewing this situation. Who wants to bankcrupt with Flopshay?
A good Combo.. have trust on Neeraj-Akki.. and on the other side it’s Hrithik-Ashutosh’s MD which is one of mine most awaited non- SRK’s films as well as it is a bigger film than Rustom.. but it is such a bad idea that they announced Rustom with MD bec a movie lover i don’t want two good movies from good directors & actors to do clash.. Hope Rustom will postpone as MD was announced 2 years before and 2nd clash has never been proven useful for any film .

Mourning period for Jokers fans. Kicked dumped when he dared clashing with Ajay 3 times. Challo dekte hai kisme hai dum. My Verdict already is Hritik gets his 4th 100 crs by then while Akshay is kicked out from Bollywood. Only Bhai Khan can save him by pleading with producers by then to still give him chance but this time not commercial mainstream movies but B grade movies or roles Govinda now is doing. So sad?

surely it will be averted since akki and have been neighbours and recently. i know heritik is bigger star now but mohendro is a meger budget film and any sort of disadvantage will not be good for it. for example if mohendro crosses 180cr and budget is 200cr it will be flop.and its not easy to get 250cr without eid diwali or crismas.It will be alose sitiution for both films, Rustom looks like it will be pandey’s first out and out commercial film.

Lol.. Akshay kumar should remember before clashing wid Hrithik Roshan that “Hrithik Roshan’s movies Weekend Collection =Akshay Kumar’s movies lyf tym collection. Surely Akki will give another disaster. Mohenjo Daro will collect near around 250-270cr and Rustom will Struggle to collect 50cr mark.
Rustam? ya chota rustam? whatever bring it on it has non other than 60 cr club star while MD has superstar hrithik so hrithik will easily beat small film like 60 cr club wala chupa rustam. and @indicine stop calling joker boy as superstar. for him words like “Jokerstar” or “Superjoker” suits more. :) :-P :-D

Rastom idea is good as i always am looking forward to akshay-neeraj combo so it is awesome. I do not like the release date as clash will benefit no one and also Akshay fan base is not stable nowadays. If they would release on some other date it would be best. So, i was wondering why Akshay had so few movies lined up for next year(Airlift, Housefull 3) and then suddenly both these announcements came(Rastom, Namaste England). LOL. But who cares as i will watch them all.
Akshay has 1 neeraj movie in 2016(Rastom) and 1 in 2017(Baby 2) which is good and all but people might get tired of this combo. Maybe that is why they are changing the genre to romantic thriller!!! Hope Akshay has a good year as his line up is promising!
@ smita, you suffer from amnesia, welcome was released with taare zameen pe and we all know what was the result, also OUATIMD released along with chennai express and for first 2 -3 days gave stiff competition, as the content was not good so was rejected, same thing happened when blue released with all is well, it had a record opening then was rejected as content was pathetic, also aitraaz was released with veer zaara and was a hit. So please do your research and then put your idiotic comments.
Rustom will be postponed…. mohenjo daro will have a solo release… so both films will do well at boxoffice… neeraj pandey & ashutosh gowarikar are the most under-rated directors of bollywood
