After Ghajini, 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3 – every film ended up as the highest grosser of its time – get ready for the biggest film of 2014 this Christmas, as Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani films have finally announced the release date of P.K.
Like Dhoom 3, which released a week before Christmas and took advantage of the extended 2 weeks leading to New Year, P.K will release on 19th December 2014.
“Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, in association with Disney India, confirm that ‘P.K.’ shall release on Dec 19, 2014,” an official statement read.
Apart from Aamir Khan, P.K also stars Sanjay Dutt, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput.
Dhoom 3 got close to being the first film to cross the 300 crore mark, so P.K has every chance of doing so, unless films like Kick, Bang Bang or Happy New Year manage to do the same before the Aamir Khan starrer hits screens worldwide.

PK box office depends on its content/word of mouth compared to other commercial films like aamir’s dhoom 3/ghajini for example so you cant give a definite answer as to how much it will do…
PK to sail past 20O cr in one week…! If content is good after that then it will sustain through week two n earn another 100 cr in second week so 300 cr will be a formality. Question is can PK do what 3 idiots did after Ghajini and that is break the record by a huge margin like 80 cr as was the case back in 2009…? If so then Dhoom 3’s record will be shattered by a huge margin and it will remain to be seen if PK can touch 350 cr plus….?
With Raju directing again after 5 long yrs one can safely put their mortgage on Team Raju/ Aamir breaking and setting new records which will surely remain untouched for afew yrs like 3 idiots record was for several years until 2013.
so the first clash will be P.K vs Welcome back on 19th december and Bombay Velvet will join the battle on 25th,wooow what a clash.but if it is beleived the rumours about P.k on relegious basis it wont collect more than 150 cr.

PK will defintely benefit by releasing on 19Dec but will finally loose steam once Bombay Velvet arrives. I expect 175-200 Cr for PK. 100-150 Cr for Bombay velvet and aorund 40-100 Cr for Welcome back. Actually Welcome backs performance depends on PK’s WOM.
Top grosser of the year undoubtely will be HNY but to cross 250Cr HNY needs atleast 2 open weeks that means no Action jackson Clash after onbe week. HNY Prediction is 250Cr + if two open weeks 200-250Cr if Action Jackson relases 30Oct. Kick will fall in the range of 150-190Cr which is the range for Sallu Bhai if WOM is good.
@damnnnn – a r murgadass isn’t a big director at all in bollywood…..whatever credibility he has to day is on account of ghajini…..wat works in south doesnt necessarilly work in th rest of the country…..even the great rajnikanth’s popularity isn’t the same in other parts of india as in the south….
however, this is a very rare year as the three khans have the three best release periods in the year and all three have mass entertainers……..eid, diwali, christmas……this is just wow…..however, it shall be noted that christmas traditionally wasn’t considered a good period to release a film because of the server cold and fog in north……its only aamir who has been very successful during xmas…..
anyhow, currently HNY has now competition for two weeks and that too during diwali which is considered the best period of films……let’s see which khan wins……btw hritik too has an outside chance as he is going to back in his dhoom 2 avtar and 2nd october, dusheera is the biggest weekend this year……

Fact remain is Aamir repeat his director or banners rarely even he get huge success with them or not. He has produced classic films under his banner. Long live Aamir.
PK will surely flop as it is stars short dhobi in title role. Even Jadoo from Koi Mil Gaya would have been better choice.

CDI was too overrated for Oscars. Ever seen Eklavya? It was incredible. CDI was not even 10% good as Eklavya.
Swades was a great and thoughtful film. But Srks performance in Swades was nothing special. Srks voice, accent and mannerisms wete exactly what I have seen in his interviews. That performance did not need great effort.
Watch Aamir’s acting in Lagaan. His voice, accent, mannerisms were totally different from his other roles and the role demanded great effort and commitment.
And what free run are you talking about? Did all theaters ban CE from theaters after 6 days? LOL It was still running.
If 100 people want to watch Chennai Express and two 100 seat theaters are available,
and
100 people want to watch D3 and four 100 seat theaters are available,
still only 100 people will watch both films. Since D3 has double theaters doesnt mean it will have double audience.
You are talking about ‘Free Run’ as if all CE theaters were houseful after 6 days. CE CRSSHED in its second week hence theaters had to reduce shows.
D3 SUSTAINED in second week so theaters owners were compelled to let it run.
