Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist and it would be an understatement to say that he does very few films. In the same amount of time that he spends on finalising the script and cast of his films, Akshay Kumar would complete four films and two family vacations.
But on a more serious note, the combined collections of Aamir’s last three commercial films is equivalent to Akshay’s last 10 (from Special 26 to Airlift). And we are only talking about the domestic collections here, otherwise the overseas collections of PK alone is more than Akshay’s last 10 releases.
It has always been quality over quantity for Aamir and it has worked for him big time in the second and more successful half of his career. But with age no longer on his side, it remains to be seen if Aamir will do more films in the next few years.
The least gap between two Aamir films is when Rang De Basanti and Fanaa released 121 days or 4 months apart. The biggest difference was between Dil Chahta Hai and Mangal Pandey, when Aamir was going through a personal low. It could also be the biggest gap for an actor when he beginning to reach his peak, because it came right after the success of Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai – two films that came at a time when the multiplex era was about to begin and the urban middle-class was coming out in big numbers.
On an average, Aamir does one film every 19 months.

Indicine u really trolled Akshay by saying that 3 Amir movies is equal to 10 Akshay movies :) But that is the truth and so it shows how big a star he is and more importantly a great actor.
He has broken records after records with his apparently ‘small fan following’. And I thank God that Amir doesnt have large fan following otherwise we would have been talking about 500 cr plus. The only movie which I feel can take a shot at 400 cr domestic will be if he comes up with the 3I sequel and releases solo at 2018 Xmas. What a hype that movie will have!!
More than the box office returns I adore him for his acting skills and for giving us top quality movies barring a one or two like Dhoom 3.

Every fan dream is to see his idol realising movies yearly. Depends with the fans to see their idol doing 1 movie a year with extraordinary collection or 5 movies with probably 1 semi hit? You think Aamir Hrithik lacks movies to do? They are wise and want to give their fans the best. Shahrukh does not release more than 2 films a year. Salman the same. Ajay the same. Surprisingly it was Akshay I thought will have the nod for lucrative release date was so surprised Ajay of all people is even colonizing deewali in advance Is he to be blamed looking at his track record along with Shahrukh in every diwali release? That’s why their buzz is always very high. on the other hands you have ranbir kapoor following footsteps of Chakki. In last 15 years, its been 3rd time when Aamir took break after two important films of his career who success the way they deserved during those time.
After Lagaan & DCH(both were national award winner) he took 4 year break
After Ghajini & 3I record breaking success he had almost 3 year gap and now again after D3 & PK he had 2 year gap with Dangal.
People may have different perception with gap a certain actor has around his films but at the end The movie should ensure the worth of ticket price. Regarding comparison with Akki, its highly baseless.
Akki is doing more films but its not that his every films makes money or become profitable for distributer or exhibitors.
From SPL 26 to Airlift. He had 10 releases. In which only Holiday,GIB and Airlift were who made money for everyone involved.
Earning 700cr is good but when 500cr on stake than its not that much great.
For me Aamir 1 release in a particular year is sufficient but a gap of average of 19 months is not good. He should have 1 release each year.
Nevertheless the year belong to Dangal.

Akshays almost all movies from 2012 has done very well in 1st week . Good occupancies they get despite 3 or 4 months gap only in his movies. He needs to choose good films with good directors that’s it.
Ticket price also affects collection his movies a bit.

They have to prove that they can earn massive collections like 200 Cr, 300 Cr or above 348 Cr or 1st 400 Cr too without EDX holidays.
Fan is 1st challenge for SRK (one of Khans) to prove that his can earn above 227 Cr as well without EDX but after its trailer & Teaser & 1st song , I am 100 % sure that Fan will not cross even 100 Cr because Non EDX releases are not in fever of Khans since decade.

Aamir may not have crazy fans like other superstars but everybody waits for an Aamir Khan film. Also bulk of the audience isnt even social media etc. There is this huge multiplex audience which is silent and does not indulge in fan wars, online polls etc.
It is this audience along with the other usual audiences as well who have just one complaint from aamir – Why such few films? Surely you can maintain the same quality by bringing the gap betweel 2 films to 1 year!
