Aamir Khan films: Gap between two movie releases

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist and it would be an understatement to say that he does very few films. In the same amount of time that he spends on finalising the script and cast of his films, Akshay Kumar would complete four films and two family vacations.

But on a more serious note, the combined collections of Aamir’s last three commercial films is equivalent to Akshay’s last 10 (from Special 26 to Airlift). And we are only talking about the domestic collections here, otherwise the overseas collections of PK alone is more than Akshay’s last 10 releases.

It has always been quality over quantity for Aamir and it has worked for him big time in the second and more successful half of his career. But with age no longer on his side, it remains to be seen if Aamir will do more films in the next few years.

The least gap between two Aamir films is when Rang De Basanti and Fanaa released 121 days or 4 months apart. The biggest difference was between Dil Chahta Hai and Mangal Pandey, when Aamir was going through a personal low. It could also be the biggest gap for an actor when he beginning to reach his peak, because it came right after the success of Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai – two films that came at a time when the multiplex era was about to begin and the urban middle-class was coming out in big numbers.

On an average, Aamir does one film every 19 months.

Check out the detailed analysis of the gap between two Aamir Khan films:

  • Dil Chahta Hai and Mangal Pandey - 1464 days (49 months)
  • Mangal Pandey and Rang De Basanti - 168 days (14 months)
  • Rang De Basanti and Fanaa - 121 days (4 months)
  • Fanaa and Taare Zameen Par - 575 days (19 months)
  • Taare Zameen Par and Ghajini - 371 days (12 months)
  • Ghajini and 3 Idiots - 366 days (12 months)
  • 3 Idiots and Talaash - 1072 days (36 months)
  • Talaash and Dhoom 3 - 386 days (13 months)
  • Dhoom 3 and PK - 365 days (12 months)
  • PK and Dangal - 736 days (24 months)
  • Average gap between two films – 562 days (one film every 19 months)

  • It’s funny how Aamir is suddenly on the brink of his career with Dangaal ? I always am of the opinion that Aamir had few good years post Ghajini (he was not even in top 5 before that). Even in the period post Ghajini, Aamir did have underperformers like Talaash and DG. I think post Dangaal he will again be out of top 5, and his career will always go down in the history as someone who gave 5 ATBB but overall just 10 clean hits in a career of 27 years (till date) and 40 films giving him one of the lowest success rate ever for a leading Bollywood actor !!!

  • @Flopbusywr lallu look who is talking? Fam of that star who was not even in top 10 before 2010. Salman only had fluke years from crap dabba tha ks to the popularity of south remakes and masala movies. Who are you blabbering rubbish against global megastar whose success ratio is best in Bollywood? Lallu is the one whose success ratio is lowest amongst all. His career will end after sultan will flop badly. He can’t give a hit despite republic holiday and 4000 screens. That’s his aukaat. You aukaatless idiot Salman may have 12 blockbusters but he has more than 50 flops in his crap, flop career and that’s the biggest shame. His success ratio is lowest and you are talking about his baap and biggest megastar aamir khan? Aamir is any days much bigger star than Salman and aamir’s success ratio is much much better than Salman. Go yo psychiatrist you psycho patient.

  • @Blockbuster ullu, lol. You trolled your self big time. Honestly Salman fans should not talk about box office before ghajini as their idol was competing with emraan hashmee before dabangg. We should rather say that Salman was nothing before 2010 and his career only took off temporarily post dabangg and his good phase was only for 5 years. Mark my words: Ullu’s career will go down and sultan will tank at the box office badly. He is nothing in front of aamir. Aamir’s box office pull is much bigger than Salman and Salman can never come close to aamir. Period. Salman will always be remembered as some one who gave some fluke 12 BB’s but overall most number of flops and disasters out of 80 films and after sultan his career will only go down further and further. Keep hating Aamir, as more you will hate him, he will rise above and above and kick your ass. I am sure aamir comes in your dreams every night and gives you nightmares. Buy burnol as that’s the only thing that can save you from mental depression.

  • As I repeat Aamir will be out cold finished post Dangal

Forget Salman indicine said a film like airkift should be compared to talaash !!! Haha talaash dud less than airkift

Your star whenever he has done something unconventional he gets defeated by akshay and Salman doesn’t even compete there !!

Bhai is untouchable and none of his films in next 5 years can do less than 200. Aamir I doubt will cross 100 with Dangal maybe another talaash or Mangal Pandey !!

  • @Flopbuster bhojpuri lallu, you repeat repeat repeat ………. Even 1 millions of times. But its not gonna happen. The fact is, you dont even know how many days are left for your life. Hope yiu dont get shocked if suddenly your life ends. :(

Anyways, dangal will kick you bhojpuri’s asa and lallu’s career will end after floptan’s mega disaster and it will be another veer/jai ho. Lallu is officially a flop tiny star and nothing in front of baap of Bollywood and biggest GLOBAL MEGASTAR AAMIR KHAN.
