With Chennai Express turning out to be one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian Cinema, Shahrukh Khan has further consolidated his strong hold on the Box Office. Shahrukh now has 10 consecutive hit movies to his credit and is second only to the legendary Rajesh Khanna who gave 15 consecutive hits in just 3 years. Due to SRK’s super success as a romantic hero, he had been criticised for over-using his immensely popular lover boy image. But if we take a closer look at the list of his last 10 movies, SRK has played a variety of character in almost every possible genre in Indian cinema; an arrogant bitter husband who cheats on his wife in ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’, Mafia King in ‘Don’ and ‘Don2’, Hockey coach in ‘Chak De India’, 70s struggling actor in ‘Om Shanti Om’, Introvert government servant in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, Autistic muslim in ‘My Name Is Khan’, a Superhero in ‘Ra.one’ and finally back to Rahul in ‘Chennai Express’. All characters are as different from each other as they can be.
After having complete monopoly over the Diwali release date, Shahrukh Khan has successfully managed to capitalise on the Eid Festival release date which was being dominated by his arch rival Salman Khan for the last 4 years. (Also read: Shahrukh Khan and the history of Diwali clashes)
Now, coming to the number of consecutive hit / successful movies, SRK is way ahead of his contemporaries – Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. While Aamir has 6 consecutive hits under his belt, Salman is placed third with 5 (all blockbusters). Not taking any credit away from any ‘Khan’ here, all three have been extremely successful over a long period of time. Just that, SRK has been a little more consistent than the other two. Some Interesting Facts:
- Aamir Khan has not given a flop since ‘Mela’ in 2000. That means ‘Lagaan’, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Mangal Pandey’ added to his list of 6 consecutive hits and makes it 9 movies in a row without a flop.
- All of Salman’s 5 movies in the list have been huge blockbusters with ‘Dabangg’ becoming All Time Blockbuster.
- Salman also has maximum number of ‘Biggest Hits Of The Year’ to his credit. (Also read: Biggest hits from 1989 – 2012)
- From December 2006 to December 2007, i.e. within one year only, Akshay Kumar delivered five consecutive hits in ‘Bhagam Bhaag’, ‘Namaste London’, ‘Heyy Babyy’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ and ‘Welcome’. The next release ‘Tashan’ broke the streak as it turned out to be a Below Average grosser. But that was followed by a huge blockbuster ‘Singh Is Kinng’.
- Last but in no way the least, Amitabh Bachchan is the only actor till now who gave at least one hit every year for 14 consecutive years from 1972 (Bombay To Goa) to 1985 (Mard). Staggering feat!

so the question of giving 10 hits does not arises honestly…………….now lets see the makers of these films………….. yash raj productions, dharma productions, yash chopra, karan johar, farhan akhtar, rohit shetty…………… these are huge names but still only hit status!!! (except for CE)…………. what else do u need mr. shahrukh khan??????………….. if not for these huge makers the film would not have been even a hit

Mangal Pandey was not a flop, it was a below average fare..in fact it was the 3rd biggest grosser of 2005 above the hit movies of that year like Garam Masala, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and Salaam Namaste…

All of them know that Ra.One’s budget was touted by the prodcers as 175 cr. It was even reported on box office india that it was 175 cr.
Even there were articles on other newspapers where the producers claimed it was 175 cr.
Also, if one remember Shirish Kunder, though i hate that guy, tweeted that 150 cr firework fizzled. He infact said lesser amount.
But, as soon as the movie collection saw big drop after first weekend, the prodcers were singing a different tune.
Even boxofficeindia got flak for declaring it a hit, after the collections, when their own article contracdicted their verdict.
It finally collected just 100 cr + and chillar in India, and hence should be only counted as a flop.
there were many articles written on how the producers manipulted the figures to hide the shame.
People working to always hide the truth doesn’t realise that this fake image will one day collapse.
It has already collapsed with the guy claiming not to do masala films, finallly doing it, and now planning to do more.

I think SRK is admin’s favorite. Admin always try to hide the fact that since a long long time Aamir Khan delivering super classic movies rather than others (Can CE matches the class of 3 Idiots, no & never). He is uniquely outstanding. Even Sallu Bhai and SRK as well praised him a lot. Ones SRK confesses that Aamir is more intelligent and better actor than him.
But the craze of Salman “Tiger” Khan is tremendous and any other actor can not match his feat.

I don’t think so Talaash can be termed as a hit film. Atmost it was a semi-hit film. Secondly, Mangal Pandey was also avg to semi-hit. Thirdly. DCH was also not termed as a hit film of that year although it was a cult classic. But BO performance is a different parameter altogether. Hence, AK’s track record needs to be revisited by the Indicine team.
That is another reason why is he the King of Bollywood a record after Rajesh Khanna 10hits in a row he will break Rajesh Khan as record in less than five years and by the way Talaash was an average movie and Amir must be behind Salman and Salman playing safe with copy or action movies because if he try something else he will be flop.

Consistency is the middle name of Shah Rukh Khan! He was not successful in spurts like others. This is quality of a true blue superstar. 10 hits is the total number of hits that Aamir Khan has in his entire career! LOL!
Rajesh Khanna’s record of 15 consecutive hits is amazing! He achieved that in 5 years flat! Super-duper stardom!
Amitabh Bachchan is something else. He is just eternal. No other Hindi film star has given hits after 60. Big B is timeless.
Salman’s record is also amazing – most number of ATBBs and most number of yearly biggest hits.
Aamir Khan’s career took off only in 2006. He can give 2 or 3 hits now but overall he will always be the third Khan. This is why his fans swing between excuses of quality and box office!

Rajesh khanna and amitabh bachan are the real stars and actors.They really gave their life for acting.SRK,Salman just remaking south commercial masala romantic time pass picture ,these picture these current actors are acting are no brainers you can see these from any time.The pictures rajesh khanna and amitabh bachan used to act is realistic original sellective and art pictures.

i am no srk hater but that wont mean i will become a dumb by not seeing obvious truth that is Billu barber (or billu). Even though srk was credited as special appearence in it but that doesnt mean it was not his movie. Seriously u think it was irfan khan as the leading guy in it? SRK has more than 1hr of role in it and plethora of item songs with actresses not part of the film at all.
Till date, I wonder why was he credited as spcl appearence for billu?
Films like bhootnath, Dhobi ghat, heroes, hello were not srk, aamir, salman or sunny deol’s movies. They had just 15-20min roles in these films but you cant ignore billu.
