Akshay Kumar’s Holiday has done very well on Tuesday, with less than 10% drop in business from Monday. The film is heading towards a 67-68 crore first week and looking at the trends, it could cross the 100 crore mark in its second week or in its third weekend.
The first Tuesday of Holiday is about 25% better than 2 States, even though the latter took a better start on its opening day.
If Holiday holds up well this weekend, it should cross the lifetime business of Jai Ho (112 cr) to emerge as the highest grosser of the year.

Jai Ho and Holiday are somewhat comparable because they released in same time period.

I was about to say expectations play a big role as well, but Ra One was declared hit despite having huge expectations and huge budget, despite bringing losses to some distributors and despite collecting low.

This film is absolutely brilliant. A.R. Murgadoss has got it right all through and congratulated for directing this taut, engaging, patriotic, and entertaining film .The film is patriotic but it does not pull down or name any country specifically. And that is very good. Superstar Akshay Kumar is in his element whether he is emoting, laughing, joking, fighting or dancing he is just brilliant in this intelligent, slick, action packed thriller of a film. Sonakshi Sinha has played her part well. The music is good. The action sequences by Hollywood Action director Greg Powell are superb. And Akki has
executed them in an exemplary way. This what they call BLOCKBUSTER cinema. Classes and masses, young and old are all going to love it. A lot of critics: Komal Nahata, Taran Adarsh, Subash K. Jha, Omar Qureshi, Oneindia, etc have all loved it and the audience is going gaga over the movie as well. Fantastic movie making after a long time.
Holiday should get a tax exemption certificate form the Government of India as it truly deserves it.
The cost of production of Holiday is 30 crore without P & A and Akki’s remuneration . And that of Jai Hi is 45 crores without P & A and Sallu’s remuneration. But all said and done I feel it is stupid to compare one genre or film with the other. In that case Aashiqui 2 was the biggest hit of last year because of the low budget and return to investment. But again to compare one film to the other and one star to the other is plain stupid. As a film runs because of various factors. And it is not fair to give credit to the main lead only for a film’s success, and run him down if it flops. Success depends on the changing tastes of audiences, genre of the movie, the way the story is handled by the writers, the direction , the music, action, ambiance, the promos, trailers, release dates and periods etc. So let us enjoy the movies and not waste time running each other down.

Oh BHAI…AKSHAY is better star than salman……112 crore is below average for salman and 90 crore is hit fo akshay..it depend on movie budget…salman movie has high budget than akshay..thats why..other wise akshay is best star than salaman and srk..his comedy timing are good…..and he achieve this place from waiter postion by his luck and hard work..i repect him alot

@ali khan. In 2009 tees maar khan which collectd 62 cr domestic & 20+ cr was declared as below average. Then wanted which colectd 56 + 10 was declared super hit. that tym salman was a too smaller actor than akshay who was delivering hits aftr hits lik a machine. Plz consider d past b4 comenting about a current case. It all depends on tym. It all can turn around wit no tym. Anyway akshay is a more genuine star than salman in terms of action & comedy. He goes for quantity rather than quality . That is his only draw back

Also Bekaar.One deserved 2.5 stars where for the 2 stars( for the villain and the kid Lucifer), as in the Paglapur world, we see the villain of a game coming out in the real world to kill the kid who is playing it!!! That kid Lucifer was trying to save himself using our King(0.5 stars) a.k.a Ghee.One from the virtual world..lol..Our King wouldn’t have been there in the movie itself had Lucifer didn’t get the idea of getting him out from the virtual world!!! :P
