Go Movie Review

Go Introduction: This year Ram Gopal Varma has had quite a few releases and most have disappointed. Is RGV trying to break a record of having the most releases in the year even if the movie is the worst of all that Bollywood has ever seen, is something questionable? His last few flicks have been major disappointments. So is ‘Go’ starring a non-actress Nisha Kothari and newcomer Gautam, engrossing? Read further… Go Story: Go is about a love pair Abhay Narula (Gautam) and Vasundhara Dave (Nisha Kothari). They elope from their homes when their parents oppose their relationship. Just like every other journey this too had its share of good and bad experiences. On their romantic journey they come across a shady Chief Minister Arjun Patil (Ravi Kale) who kills his own Deputy, a goon Ranga (Sherveer Vakil), a rogue cop Nagesh Rao (Kay Kay Menon) and a conman Jagtap Tiwari (Rajpal Yadav). All these characters get involved into a complex situation turning this romantic journey into an action packed entertainer. Go Movie Review: Go is a deteriorated version of RGV’s 2002 flick Road. The plotline is similar; one villain is replaced by three and is packed with some extra action, chases with two people on the run. A hero and heroine fall in love. They elope and come across villains, get challenged by many obstacles which is followed by lots of action and finally come out unscathed. A short plot line is stretched too long and jarringly to such an extent that even burying your face deep into the popcorn tub and further digging it deep into the darkness under your seats is just not sufficient to run away from this all crap movie. I think RGV has developed a strong liking for bad cinema. Manish Srivastava is no doubt one of the worst directors of the RGV camp. What was he thinking when he approved the script? Right from the beginning of the movie to the end, nothing works in the movie and it’s just a tedious and horrendous watch. Direction, script, music, background score all below average. Cinematography is good. Go Performances: Debutant Gautam is just OK as he hams in most parts of the movie. The director has given him all scope to flaunt his muscles and he carries it off well. Nisha Kothari just tries to look hot and sexy in almost non-exsistent clothes through out the movie. I wonder if she even knows the A of acting. Kay Kay Menon must have agreed to play this role in state of unconsciousness. Rajpal Yadav, Ravi Kale and Sherveer Vakil are bad. Indicine Go Verdict: Overall, Go is nothing but a crappy movie. No entertainment value, bad direction and bad performances. This is yet another piece-of-trash from the RGV camp! Stay far away! Rating: 1/2 Star

Rajeev Masand: Ranbir, welcome to CNN-IBN. Were you always destined to be an actor? Ranbir Kapoor: Yes, I think so. I don’t really remember the time when I sat down and thought what I would do in my life. I lived around films, so it was always about something to do with films. But I didn’t really say as a child that I would grow up to be an actor. Rajeev Masand: Were the signs there like looking at the mirror and mimicking your father? Ranbir Kapoor: Not mimicking but you see a trailer of a song and you suddenly start dancing to it or imitate what’s happening onscreen. So, I have done all of that and I guess those are the signs, which showed my passion for acting. It was slow and steady but it was always there.

Johnny Gaddar Movie Review

Introducing Johnny Gaddar Director Sriram Raghavan’s debut film Ek Haseena Thi, starring Saif Ali Khan and Urmila Matondkar was average at the box-office but won rave reviews from the critics. After three years of hiatus, the director is back with yet another suspense thriller titled ‘Johnny Gaddar’. Many films that released this year are inspirations of Hollywood movies or Bollywood classics. Johnny Gaddar is no exception. The title of the film is Raghavan’s way of paying homage to veteran director Vijay Anand. Some of the script is borrowed from James Hadley Chase novels and the Big B starrer Parwana, which is clearly revealed in the movie as Johnny is show watching the movie and takes inspiration to double cross his business associates. Johnny Gaddar Story: Seshadri (Dharmendra), Prakash (Vinay Patak), Shardul (Zakir Hussain), Shiva (Daya Shetty) and Vikram (Neil Mukesh) are five business associates, who plan a conspiracy. All have one common interest and that is making fast money. The eldest of the group is Seshadri and he gets an offer to make a fortune in four days and the rest of the gang agree to pitch in their share as this would put them in the big league. The youngest of the group Vikram decides to double-cross and elope with his love Mini. What ensues is an accident that they all try to figure out. Johnny Gaddar Movie Review: Director Sriram has chosen to make it different. Unlike other thrillers where the identity of the culprit is kept a secret till the climax nears, in Johnny Gaddar there is absolutely no beating around the bush. The audience knows right from the outset what transpires and who the culprit is. Johnny Gaddar takes the audience on a journey full of suspenses. With just three short songs, no cry and drama, the movie follows things a caper thriller should. But the movie slackens in pace and hence suffers to do complete justice as a suspense thriller. The script is interesting, with twists and turns, one accident leading to many crimes but the sequence could have been better scripted by making the suspense even more intricate. Johnny Gaddar Performance: Dharmendra as Seshadri does justice to his character. But his role could have been improved to match his magnetism. The one scene that looked quite artificial is his death scene. Neil Mukesh, the debutant is commendable in a role that doesn’t demand histrionics. We can expect to see more of him in the future. Having seen Vinay Pathak in comic roles, this new avatar of his comes as a surprise. He is brilliant. Zakir Hussain is excellent. He executes the role with ease and comfort. Daya Shetty’s (Daya in TV Thriller CID) role is limited. His performance is average. Indicine Johnny Gaddar Verdict Overall, Johnny Gaddar is half planned suspense thriller but manges to entertain. The movie will be reveived with mixed reviews. It’s business at the multiplex will be good. Rating:
