After Shahid Kapoor (read article), Aamir Khan has hit out at actors in the industry who give out inflated box office numbers.
During a promotional campaign of his upcoming film PK, Aamir said “Its childish. I think that for some reason various people in the film industry feel that by inflating their figures they would convince people.”
“Nowadays you get to buy editorial in number of newspapers which is extremely unfortunate. So what happens is that I can buy editorial and say ,’Mera itna dhanda hua ya utna hua’ (Say my film has earned this much). But its meaningless because when you go home you know how much business the film has done. Even the industry knows exactly how much each film has done. So the market knows, you can’t fool the market. You can try and fool people but how many times will you fool people also. Ultimately you are just fooling yourself.”
Aamir went on to add that he is one of those actors who is strictly against the idea of giving out inflated figures, something that he claims he hasn’t done for any of his films so far “I am one of the people who strictly doesn’t give out figures which are inflated” the actor added.
Aamir holds the record for the highest grosser in the industry. His last release Dhoom 3 went on to collect Rs 283 crore in India and more than Rs 500 crore (gross) overseas. He was also the ‘founder’ of the 100 crore and 200 crore clubs. The trade expects his upcoming film ‘PK’ to be the first to cross Rs 300 crore in India.

For all of those who are confused between inflated and BOI figure.
Friends BOI doesn’t show official collection & with the screen size of 3500-5000 difference of 15-30 crore is pretty much normal & this is not inflated figure but above that means there would be a problem…..so figures of Dhoom 3, Kick, Happy new year, Chennai Express, YJHD & ETT is not inflated figure as all above movies have a difference of less than 25 crores in huge screen ranging in between 3300- 5000 screen, I am not sure of Krrish 3 & Bang Bang…both movies released in between 4000- 4500 screens which is the same as other big movies discussed above but there difference in BOI & Producer figure was 66 crore & 40 crores respectively which is huge & raises a question…Unfortunetly both stars Hrithik Roshan.

TOI even published an article titled “Kick crossed 200 crores on 11th day” . So even they are following the figures given by producers as Kick crossed 200 crores on 11th day “in the producer figures “. In BOI, kick took more days for that.

For those losers who are saying both K3 and BangBang are manipulated as they have more differences between boi and producers’ figures and Both stars Hrithik as lead actor, let me tell you it depends upon producers to manipulate,not the actors. Hrithik wasn’t the producer of BangBang ,still it has higher difference compared to other films. It shows that there is something wrong with BOI. May be that’s an anti-hrithik site!

@khajur kapur Imran hasmi sir did about 10 b grade films at start of career like dil diya hai,jawani diwani, train etc … Thatzwhy ratio might be bad. But rk doing big banner film right from start… U can’t compare rk n imran sir with hit-flop ratio.. But with doing quality film.. Imran sir doing more quality film than rk.. Still he having 11 big hits.. Rk is zillion behind that mark……

Totally agree with Amir Khan because you can’t fool people by inflating collections as people will get to know one day and on that day, you eventually will be the biggest fool. Same thing happened with the Roshans for inflating K3’s collections as they couldn’t even face the media and they had to clarify several times by giving individual speeches to the media that they hadn’t inflated the collections. But while those speeches, their faces told everything as their words and faces didn’t go together at that time. So, they fooled themselves and everyone knows the truth now. I don’t think that in the future, they will ever try to repeat the same mistake.

for all those saying that D3 numbers were inflated:
Dhoom 3 Trade Figure – 262 cr Hindi + 12 Cr Regional = 274 cr
Dhoom 3 Producer Fig – 272 cr Hindi + 12 cr Regional = 284 Cr
i.e. difference of 10 cr on a base of 274 cr which comes to around 4% difference in collections…..this is very marginal…..its only when the difference is above 10% when eyebrows are raised…..
Talassh did 95 cr…..just by making a 6% variation it would have been 100 cr……remember again with Talaash producer & trade fig were similar….
same for 3 idiots……thus can be safely concluded that whatever aamir is saying is not in the air and is infact true!!
