Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has collected Rs 20 crore+ on it’s second day at the domestic box office, taking its 2 day total to around 39-40 crores. The film picked up at several key centres on Saturday, which is outstanding as films that release on 3000+ screens and run at 70% occupancy on it’s opening day, tend to drop by around 15-20% on it’s second day.
YJHD has also shattered all previous non-holiday records – Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 had collected Rs 35 crores in 2 days.
The first weekend business is likely to be around 62-65 crores and the film might cross the 100 crore mark by the end of Week 1.

just one film and people are calling ranbir kapoor no.1 that too ahead of srk salman aamir. its very good that YJHD has got a bumper opening but to call him no.1 is way too early. agreed that ranbir is one of the rising superstars and will eventually become no.1 one day no doubt but let him sustain the success for a period of time. the business dynamics have changed a lot today, so these type of bumper openings should not come as a surprise. make no mistake that this record will be broken in a few months time by any other superstar actor. but yes u cannot deny the fact that it is indeed an achievement by ranbir kapoor. n i say it again a lot of factors went in favour of the movie. ranbir deepika pairing, superhit music, UTV n dharma productions, talented director, huge n massive promotions, youth targeted fun n entertaining movie n last but not the least solo release after IPL is the bestest time to release a movie n dont forget summer vacations are on too. u can also say ranbir got lucky!
@greekgod. Hrithik overtook SRK I agree, that too with kaho na pyar hai, note: KHPH is not a ATBB, it’s just blockbuster, it’s hrithik talent which made him superstar. Gadar was a ATBB but it doent mean sunny deol overtook SRK. Before gadar sunny deol was going through low phase but yes sunny deol was next to SRK. After fanaa Aamir khan was in top 2 but akshay overtook Aamir khan with singh is king and attained second position. Just think, if aamir is no.1 after fanaa and RDB then how would anyone compare akshay with SRK in 2007?. R u mad or just acting like one?
@greekgod. Ur saying hrithik is no.1 in 2003 with koi mil gaya. Before KMG, hrithik was almost termed as 1 film wonder. Yes he made a comeback, BUT no.1 on what basis?. In 2006, hrithik gave 2 blockbsters but that doesnt made him no.1 bcuz SRK was far ahead. In 2000 with kaho na pyar hai, he made huge impact, that’s y Hrithik overtook SRK. Take the example of Kareena Kapoor, she came on top with Jab We Met, movie was just a hit but the impact she made with that film put her on top. Later she given lot of blockbusters like 3 idiots, bodyguard, ra one but none of the films given her the boost which got from Jab We Met. SRK is no.1 from 2001-2008 till Aamir came up with Gajini. Thereafter, he was no.2 and never slipped to 3rd position.
These numbers are decent, but it would be difficult for it to sustain over the weekdays. Still I feel it would not be a huge disappointment at the end of it’s run and lifetime collections would be 100 cr plus.
It is very early to say that ranbir rule the boxoffice, 10 years ago people say hritic rule the boxoffice but what happend everyone know. Shahid is also talented guy, good dancer and more good looking than ranbir, shahid has given 2 bb with out multistarer and ranbir havn’t done, and yjhd down fall start from monday as its very week content, just popular music, utv marketing concept and 3100screen release thats why it has done outstanding opening, ppnh may not get such a huge opening but i am sure it will col more than yjhd. Now we just wait and watch yjhd cross 100cr or not as its a average film but i am 100% sure it can’t cross 124cr like agneepath. 135cr rr col is impossible, till date aki film haven’t got the chance 3000plus screen release despite a superstar but utv get the chance for ranbir and ajay.

@romance express ans soroop, guys, don’t get mad but the huge difference between hrithik and ranbir is, kaho naa pyaar hai was hrithik’s debut , first ever film !! yjhd is ranbir’s 10th film , he had made debut in 2007. it took him so many years to enjoy clean box office success whereas hrithik had enjoyed it with his first film.
second major difference is hrithik’s kaho naa pyaar hai was that year’s biggest grosser beating yashraj films’ magnum opus starring both srk and amitabh, now what do you call such an achievement ?? its a phenomenon, a newcomer’s film being a year’s biggest grosser is not a joke, it wont be repeated again ever , 110% challenge !!! then hrithik had won all the awards that year, both for debut and for best actor , has any actor ever done that ?? in 2006, it was all the way hrithik with two huge blockbusters krrish and dhoom 2 being that year’s biggest grossers, he was way ahead of srk,aamir at that time but he then took 1 year break and then came with a period film, that was a major blow to his momentum whereas srk released two big films in 2007. first observe then say !!! whenever hrithik gained huge momentum, he would stay away from box office for months, example after stupendous success of koi mil gaya, he took a break and 1 and a half year krrish came then after ruling 2006, he again took 1 year break and came with a classic non-commercial period film in 2008, and again he took almost 2 years break and came with kites which was flop, so it was a major blow to his gained momentum, that doesn’t mean his stardom decreased, he just does very less movies but quality ones just like aamir khan. after the humongous success of 3 idiots, it was aamir all the way, but he took 2-3 years break and look everything has changed , salman khan took over the box office fully. this is bollywood, kismat har friday badalti hai. aaj yeh no. 1 hai toh kal koi aur, its not fixed.
