During his ‘blockbuster’ run that started with Dabangg, Jai Ho will be the second Salman Khan film after Ready that will fall short of the 200 crore mark worldwide.
While the investors of 2011’s ‘Ready’ doubled / tripled their investment, Jai Ho would have had to collect around Rs 230-240 crore worldwide for Eros to break-even.
What that effectively means is, the worldwide gross of Jai Ho is about 35% of Dhoom 3, less than half of Chennai Express and about 50% of Krrish 3. All these films were holiday releases. Compared to non-holiday releases, Jai Ho is around the same level as Barfi and Talaash, but about 10% lower than Ram Leela.

The reasons:
1- We have watched enough of action films, romantic films, comedy films etc in the last 12-13 years. Except for Shahid Kapoor’s Vivah, I don’t remember when I last watched a family drama film.
2- Hardly any other film-maker is coming up with a film in this genre. Therefore, audience will have something refreshing to watch!!
3- Reunion of Historic Blockbuster Director-Actor Duo
4- Return of the eternal Prem Avatar
5- Quality of the Scripts, direction and songs of the film Rajshri Films and meant for all section of audience
Then, it will set a trend like Wanted did. Everybody will be after the films in that genre. I hope a telugu family drama film called “Seethamma Vakitlo Simralle Chettu” will be subsequently remade in Hindi as well. This telegu film, starring Ventakest Daggubati and Mahesh Babu Ghattamaneni, is absolutely mindblowing and if I were a film-maker, I would have already the remake rights.
CE, dhoom 3 and krrish 3 would still have been huge blockbusters and collected much more than jai ho if they were released on non-holiday. Even salman’s ett, bodyguard holiday releases are much short of CE and Dhoom 3 worldwide
When you compare jai ho with films like talaash and barfi that released in 2012, you also have to take note that those films released on much lower screens and lower ticket prices. Simply put, market has expanded and those films would collect more if released today.

Since Dabangg (2010) success srk fans n haters predicting every Salman movie as flop but he proved them wrong not once but 4 times. Now 1 below average (only in terms of business / content wise is way better) movie of Salman had made their wishes true, let them enjoy. Whereas since 3 Idiots they were predicting every srk movie to be ATBB but they are all struggling hits n during CE their wish came true. But sadly CE records stood only for 3 months (K3) or 4 months (Dhoom3). So they are feeling great respite in Salman’s Jai Ho failure. Srkians predictions comes true once in a Bluemoon so srk fans enjoy it. You never know what will be fate of HNY, atleast I am not a blind to call it disaster unlike you had been calling Salman 5 BB as disasters !!!!!

@sss if you required to see who is best worldwide than my advice please do some research and come with your list for 10 films or after 2000, i can make that list and no doubt Aamir career is come on top after 2000 or must say since his comeback after 3 years with Mangal Pandey, but Aamir had done 12 films since 2000, while srk has done 25-26, so if we count srk film list, it ranges from 2006-2013, but for Aamir it ranges from 2001-2013 as his last 10th film is DCH,so because there is so huge difference in no of movie of srk and Aamir than how can list will justify.you will find Akshay’s 10 movies in 3-4 years,Hr 10 movie in 10 years. Any one can see that while collecting 110cr Jai ho termed as underperformed while we seen first movie to reach 100 cr in 2008. Just see difference in 6 years.
if you talking while doing 1 movie per year or come after 3-4 years you get great collection, this is myth.
1. Aamir come back after 4 years Mangal Pandey took best opening of 2005 but movie not liked by audience and ended with below avg due to huge production cost.
2. Srk comeback after 1 year from RBNDJ to Mnik, movie under performed in domestic front, though movie zoner not universal but it was combo of Karan-SRK-Kajol. so it under performed and this is said by Trade.
3. Srk comeback after 1 & half year Ra1 with huge promotion since 1 year, movie under performed despite of holiday release collect 125cr considering budget more than 135cr.
4. Aamir comeback with Talaash after 3 years, movie collected well with zoner and non-holiday but still trade said it underperformed.
5. Salman Jai ho after 1 year gap and movie under performed, so audience only want good cinema and if they liked movie and appreciating than it will success whether its srk,salman,Aamir or Hr or any other actor.
so i can make the list but i can’t justify with those collection that who is bigger or better.
