Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have publicly expressed their ‘life long dream’ of adapting arguably the greatest and most layered story ever told, the Mahabharatha.
Shah Rukh has spoken about making ‘Mahabharat’ on multiple occasions, the most recent public quote was just a couple of weeks ago when the superstar said “It’s my dream to make the Mahabharat for the screen. It’s been for years now. But I don’t think I have the budget to do that. I would love to do it, but I don’t think I could afford to”
In the pre-Baahubali 2 era, Shah Rukh had probably underestimated the potential of the Indian market.
“Unless I collaborate… But not with Indian producers. There have to be international producers on board for this one because Indian producers and Indian films have a limited market. This one has to go out into the international markets. So you have to collaborate with someone who’s international”
The ‘Raees’ star had also said the scale has to be no less than a ‘Baahubali’ or bigger.
“You don’t take up a subject like the Mahabharat and make it any less. It should be on the scale of a Baahubali or an even larger one” Shah Rukh had said.
Aamir Khan too has said he wants to make the epic into a film and his dream would be to play the role of Karna. The actor had recently said he wants to divide the film and story into several parts.
Meanwhile, there have also been reports that a UAE businessman has signed Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for a 1000-crore bi-lingual film based on the story of Mahabharat. The makers are said to be keen on casting Hrithik Roshan as Lord Krishna. An excited Mohanlal also made the announcement through blogposts that he would be playing the role of ‘Bhima’ – the second Pandava son.
The scope of the story of the Mahabharat is immense, but it also requires a director of the calibre of a S.S. Rajamouli or maybe even a Sanjay Leela Bhansali to translate what’s on paper into a magnum opus. A less gusty director like a Ashutosh Gowariker, could so easily end up ruining the entire project.
Will the humongous success of ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ give the likes of Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan the confidence to make a film that will not only bring the All-India audience to theatres, but even help Indian Cinema go truly global for the very first time?
With age no longer on their side, the time to realise their dream and make the Mahabharat into a big screen experience is now. Baahubali 2 has set an example, it’s time for the Indian Film Industry to up the ante and give the audience what they are looking for – bigger and better films!

If both srk and aamir comes along or salman then no matter how much the movie cost it will earn twice the budget they need to use their stardom together then we will see bigger movie than bahubali

SRK has Guts to play with money he had invested 125cr in 2011 .means he can invest 250cr easily today . Aamir plays safe always .Problem is visionary director SS Rajamouli is successful but Tollywood also witnessed Disaster like Puli , Rudhramadevi ,(even after Bahubali 1 hit ).
At present Stage is Sad but True that in Bollywood no director can pull such film .Raju hirani has limited only one formula and he fix masala in that formula no new thing he ads in his film .Kabir khan is good director but he has also same formula of Cross border syndrome ,
It will be only Sanjay leela bhansali can pull all efforts for such film but he lacks Massy hysteria with entertainment content will be less …..

Please stop insulting ashutosh gowarikar, what he did in swades n lagaan was just amazing, in fact it is who is Sanjay Leela is a below par director and frankly he will end up ruining the most if gets a Mahabharata, it is not massive set n decorations thats important, most important is heart n soul which his films always lack. At least gowarikar had the guts to try a mohenjodaro, unlike slb who is only interested in love story of all raja-ranis. U can recall jodhaa Akbar how it touched upon all the issue in akbar’s life and not just his love story, n that too in non melodramatic way.
2.o have the best chance to beat bahubali2 collections as it will made in much bigger budget 450cr while bahubali1&2 both made in 250cr successful director know how to handle big budget films and bigger star cast rajnikant in south & akshay in north and definitely wide release probably more than 10000 screen worldwide the only edge of bahubali on 2.o is sequel factor for film finished with question that every body wants to know after watched the first part but still 2.o is sequel for big blockbuster robot but with different story so let see where it is goes
For me there is No need of Bollywood Mahabharat,south indian film industry have the caliber to make this one. bollywood heroes are egotic and they ruin the film if they intend to make mahabharata. south industry is well in unity, so they can easyly make the epic mahabharata in celluloid. and also couple of national award winning complete actor MOHANLAL is perfect for bhima for this project. If hrithik play krishna then it will be huge. Also Amir is not perfect for legendry rolemodel Karna, bcos his phisique is not perfect for karna, on the otherhand it is Akshay kumar who is perfect for playing Karna in celluloid, i hope directer Sreekumar and Mohenlal will hire Akki in for this epic #MAHABHARATHA to play karna.
Only aamir will succeed. Srk make but film will be disaster.
I don’t think Aamir Khan should play Karna role as it will better if hrithik plays Karna role. He will be better in Krishna role.
No they won’t realise anything . Aamir is too busy in making strategies about hiding his real side and promoting his a perfectionist and what not and srk doesn’t know his time would be over before he’d realise it . India hasn’t seen a star like srk so he himself doesn’t know how such stardom vanishes and I guess probably by making one non sense movie after another and giving so much of appearance everyone and doing unethical and racist ads such as fair and handsome exactly like srks choice .
Consistency in content movie makes a actor a star and when the faith is stored that’s when that actors movies gets a good initial .A content movie like pink challenged fan collections , if you take out the initial of fan due the faith in srk . He made chennai express which wasn’t very special but people still watched it and gave thumps up as they understand change . Then came happy new year and Dilwale which were totally unnecessary movies . And then fan and raees . He should see people are backing out . To me srk does a movie by seeing himself as a star the movie as a business project and marketing to make profits in short he has forgot he is actor first and movies are good business till the content is there and those 3 larger than life 3 hours should touch audience in more ways than one . His story is over . And the trend setting these days of clashes is already backfiring on industry . Mahabharata won’t happen as it needs good actors and not some people who think they’re such a big stars and Aamir can’t bare srk because he is a jealous person
Mahabharata Should have a different cast for South and North
For example in the North the role of Krishna can be played by Amir Khan while in south it should be played by Jr NTR.

Arjuna-SRK (north)-Vikram(south)
Bheema-Salman n Rana daggubati
SRK and Aamir can make it better then Prabas that’s 100% sure

It has potential to do business more than 2500cr worldwide if Khans + one telugu star + one tamil star + one malayalam star are cast in the movie. Reasons:-
1. Recently, Furious 8 collected more than $350 (approx INR 2500cr) millions in china alone. Aamir is quite popular there from the Indian film industry side. So, Aamir’s trust plus scale along with good story can help to gross 500cr atleast from china alone.
2. Agree or not, SRK is the most recognize Indian actor outside India or non-Indian diaspora. If the quality of the movie is equal to the level of hollywood then not only Indian diaspora but can attract others too.
3. To bringing the regional movie stars can change huge, If the top regional stars are cast with meaty role in the biggest movie ever made in India, the concern state will be more mad than never ever like situation.
4. Mahabarata is an epic story & it is connected to all Indians despite language barriers. Therefore, If it is well made then the 200cr net is a big task. Every household like even old aged will love to watch at theater as it is mythological story based on Hinduism.

Nobody wants to see Muslim stars in Hindu epic. This is a disgusting article. Do Muslims allow Hindu actors to play mythological or religious roles? Not only that, Bollywood’s corrupt stars also lack humility and screen presence to be in epics, this is why they can only act in a handful of rural films and mostly urbanized films. They don’t have the necessary aura for epic.
