Talaash was the most-awaited movie of 2012 and it failed to cross 100. He is the most over-rated Khan in the ‘Khan trio’. Indicine: Akash, you are talking about a man who delivered the first 100 crore, 200 crore and 250 crore grosser! Four major Aamir Khan films have released since the first 100 cr grosser and only one of his films have released during a non-holiday weekend.
Its not just Aamir, the other two Khans have also tried their best to avoid releasing their film during a non-holiday weekend. Shahrukh Khan’s last normal release was My Name Is Khan (2010) and it didn’t collect 100 cr. Salman too has released all his films either during the holiday weekend or Post-IPL.
Coming to Talaash, it appealed only to a certain section of the audience and for its genre it did reasonably well at the box office. If 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 or the upcoming P.K release this week, it would still easily collect more than 150 cr.
And finally, Dhobi Ghat was an art film made on a budget of around 12 cr. It would be foolish to expect huge box office returns from the film.

Next major Aamir film released on 30th Nov 2012 – Talaash whch did 92-94 cr…..would have definitely crossed 100 cr had the suspense not leaked out and went viral on social media…….for its genre even 92 cr was good
Then D3 – Again all records broken…..yes it was on christmas but as rightly pointed out big stars want a holiday release due to bi costs etc…..not to forget Don 2 and Dabang 2 too release during christmas and we all know both didnt make any new records…..
If Chennai Express didnt release on Eid last year it probably wouldnt have crossed 200 cr…..a holiday release matters but if the content is good, then holiday factor is not more than 10% in lifetime collections….
For those saying D3 was crap and illogical, just remember no film breaks all circuit records if its a bad film……yes it’d do 100 cr……but not break every possible record (excluding mumbai circuit)

Career is counted for entire time period since an actor debuted. Not just best 5 years that he had. Aamir is not consistent. SRK did not just work with established people. DDLJ was Aditya Chopra’s first film, KKHH was Karan Johar’s first film and Farah Khan was only a choreographer, whose first film was OSO. SRK gave mega hits with newbies.
A criticised film of Aamir fails to go past 92 crore whereas a much bashed film of SRK – Ra One, crossed 112 crore.
SRK has also done quality films – CDI, Swades, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dil Se.
At a time when other actors were scared for their image, only SRK had guts to do negative roles like Darr and Anjaam.

Aamir’s so called different films before Lagaan were also flop be it Raakh or Earth.
SRK’s the one for whom Deewana is remembered and he won awards for it. Pairing of SRK-Divya Bharti was more appreciated than Rishi-Divya.
If Karan Arjun is hit due to Salman (after HAHK) then why Aamir’s AAA flopped and could not benefit from Salman’s presence?
Darr was superhit due to music, concept and SRK. It is his famous “Kkkiran” that is still remembered. He won accolades for it. Sunny Deol still keeps crying foul for getting overshadowed. Had SRK not overshadowed him in Darr, he wouldn’t have been ripping his pants in frustration back then!
SRK won Best Villain award for Anjaam. It was critically acclaimed. It never went unnoticed like junk of Aamir’s early 90s flop shows.
Now you will claim SRK was buying awards! Was he so influential that even as a newcomer with no filmy connections he bought awards? If so, he was already bigger than Aamir! LOL!
Aamir with Juhi (except QSQT), only Ishq is semi hit, rest all – Love Love Love, Tum Mere Ho, Aatank Hi Aatank, Daulat ki Jung etc. disasters!
Atleast SRK gave two clean hits Devdas and DTPH with Madhuri! Aamir only had Dil! Deewana Mujhsa Nahi was epic flop. Madhuri didn’t bother to work with him later. He had to make do with Juhi and other starlets like Urmila, Sonali, Manisha in 90s. He should thank his luck that Karishma Kapoor agreed to work with him in Raja Hindustani (1996 was her year with hits like Jeet, Coolie no. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural. In fact she had more hits in 90s than Aamir!).
Kajol gives BB to SRK? Why couldn’t she give clean hit to Aamir with Ishq? Why Fanaa was only superhit and no ATBB or BB?
Deepika? LOL! She owes her very launch to SRK. It’s only desperate to claim SRK succeeded due to her.
By that logic, people came to see D3 for Katrina’s skin show in songs and Aamir was redeemed after disappointment of Talaash and Dhobi Ghat!
SRK did not just give hits in romance. Baazigar, Darr, CDI, MNIK are not romantic films! Aamir in fact has only romantic films as hits before Lagaan. Atleast SRK gave hits in other genres early in his career unlike Aamir who failed royally when he did different stuff in Aatank Hi Aatank, Isi ka naam zindagi, Jawani Zindabad, Earth, Raakh, Holi etc.!
He is so scared and risk averse that he didn’t even work for years after Lagaan and even took break after 3 Idiots!
At least SRK had guts to keep on working and never sat at home like Aamir!

Aamir’s DCH is average, his Mangal Pandey failed after opening. Dhobighat failed. Talaash barely reached 92. So much for giving hits in all genres!
Half of his movies have him playing college boy. Earlier college boy in love. Now college boy giving social message.
He had no other niche so he started doing social films. Good way for a star with no charisma to save his career.
Oscar nomination of Lagaan is the only thing that changed his fortunes. Otherwise Lagaan was whipped by Gadar and K3G despite hype.
SRK’s Dil Se might be flop but it is first Indian film to reach UK top 10. At least his flop has a record to its credit unlike no show of Aamir’s flops.
Aamir’s reputation as a star and actor before Lagaan was so poor that even his own brother Mansoor Khan chose SRK for Josh over him! What else to say?!
