Answer: Only films that are released during festive periods can cross the 283-crore lifetime business of Dhoom 3, as the contribution from India is much higher than overseas markets. Aamir Khan’s upcoming film PK probably has the best chance, as it will open well not just in the overseas markets but also back here in India. If PK is as good as any of Rajkumar Hirani’s last three films, every record will be history.
But if PK falls below expectations, then it could be Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Fan or Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Too early to predict anything on those films. Bajrangi Bhaijaan will be an out-an-out Salman Khan film, perfect Eid release. Not much is known about Fan, but Shahrukh Khan recently said that the film is “very intense yet commercial viable”. As for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, the family audience will come out in numbers to watch Sooraj Barjatya’s feel-good romance, family values and tradition, but the difference will be the youth – if they don’t take a liking to the film, it may not be a huge grosser.

Bollywood is losing its magic…there was where all kinds of movies were released horror comedy romance action drama but now a days only masala flims..collections are going high but content is going down…how can we challenge Hollywood.???
This is quite a partial comment, but for me its clearly PK. For multiple reasons. Christmas is the best season to release a movie in the overseas. Aamir’s unique marketing and star-power should ensure powerful weekend collections. Rajkumar Hirani would ensure a strong content which wont let the collections drop in first week.
The real trump card is Christmas and new year holidays. While Salman with Eid gets only 2 or 3 free days Srk with Diwali gets 3 or 4 free days but Aamir with Christmas gets 2 holidays in 2 successive weeks. Happy New Year could have crossed 230 mark comfortably had it got 2 more holidays this week.
Hands down. Pk has got almost every thing. A star director. A star actor. A strong ensemble cast and a holiday season. Word of mouth is still the most important factor. The teaser looks unique so i do feel WOM might be as good as 3 idiots. I don’t think any other film stands a chance at the moment.

Pk, Bajarangi Bhaijan or PRDP has a pottential to break dhoom 3 collection mainly depending upon content and word of mouth to sustain well in the long run to break such a huge collection.

I don’t trust on Ashutosh Gwarikar but if has created intense love story for his next movie Mohenjo Daro, then who knows there is a chance for this film to break records unless it’s to grumpy like Jodha Akbar and Swades. Grumpy movies don’t work well at Box office but if the film has a commercial test with awesome love story combined with heavey action scenes as it is going to be, then there is a good possibility to break records by Mohenjo Daro since Hrithik has taken such a huge amount of money from this movie only which no actor in recent time can ever imagine to take!!
