Welcome Back is showing excellent trends in its first weekend at the box office. The film opened well on Friday, picked up on Saturday and shows on Sunday are running to packed houses at most places.
The Anees Bazmee directed film has already collected Rs 31.4 crore in its first two days and the first weekend business could cross the 50 crore mark if the film manages to sustain through the rest of the day.
Occupancy for the night / late night shows at multiplexes does tend to be on the lower side on Sunday, but the advance booking for ‘Welcome Back’ is excellent.
The film is certain to cross the 100 crore mark at the domestic box office, but what remains to be seen is if ‘Welcome Back’ can go on to be a much bigger grosser. Only three films have crossed the 100 crore mark this year – Bajrangi Bhaijaan (320 cr), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (151 crore) and ABCD 2 (105 crore). Unless ‘Welcome Back’ has a surprisingly huge drop on Monday (unlikely because of positive word-of-mouth), the film should cross the 100 crore mark in its second weekend.
‘Hero’ releases in theatres next weekend, but that film belongs to a different genre altogether and if ‘Welcome Back’ holds well on Monday, business of ‘Hero’ could be affected to a certain extent next week.
The release of ‘Welcome Back’ was postponed several times and the makers didn’t go all out to promote the film either. But the popularity of the first film has resulted in a surprisingly good opening at the box office.

@babaji , I don’t know about the fake IDs but some of the regular salman fans started bashing akki & his fans only after guys like u & sunny chachi poked us , how can u say so certainly that guys like ‘floppy’ & ‘gobbar is back’ are salman fans?? They could most probably be srk fans or the sambuddha himself , I don’t see any reason for salman fans using fake IDs to bash akki as most of salman fans like him & even if they want to bash him they do it directly using their regular ids without resorting to any chameleonism, I too strongly doubt sambuddha and if not him then some srk fans must have done it to create rift and animosity between salman & akki fans , except challa & 1 or 2 srk fans all the other srk fans on indicine don’t like akki & u also know it very well.
I will try my best to persuade few regular salman fans like tiger, navin, akki, yuvraj etc not to bash akki unnecessarily as long as ur partner in crime sunny chichi doesn’t provoke them by speaking bad about salman or aamir, remember akki’s SIB will be releasing after few weeks and the last thing akki wants at this moment is any kind of pre-negative atmosphere surrounding his release and u very well know what salman fans are capable off, akki is going through a tough phase and he needs some strong support and we salman, aamir & ajay fans are more than willing to support his movies provided his fans don’t provoke us without any reason, srk fans will never ever support akki and even if they are showing that they are doing it they are actually just faking & pretending it for their own selfish uses , remember this thing : never ever trust srk & his fans.
I request all salman, aamir & ajay fans not to bash akki unnecessarily until & unless we get offended by his fans.
